Simple, relatively inexpensive, has output on-off which is helpful
I understand from other reviews that the output on off doesn’t really turn it off completely (looks like a capacitor is across the output after the on-off or something, couple 20-40mV with no load). In practice though it works very well and it’s been really nice having a simple adjustable bench power supply in the typical form factor. Has been reliable so far and seems relatively accurate when measured with my HP 34401A

One of the few power supplies that works the way it should!
There are endless cheap power supplies on Amazon, but this is the only one Iâve found that actually works the right way. Most of the cheap switchers have a knob to set voltage and a knob to set current limit, but no markings to be able to see what they are set to. This means that flipping on the power supply will result in it outputting whatever the last voltage was set to. If you donât remember, that might result in your device blowing up! Also, the current limit is set by shorting the leads, which means that they must be disconnected from the load to configure it.This power supply shows the set voltage and current – before the power is enabled. When the power supply is turned on, the set voltage and current is displayed, but the output is not enabled. This means that the risk of destroying whatever itâs connected to is minimized, because there is a visual confirmation of the values (just like my 60-year-old Q-Nobatron, which has voltage and current set pots – with scales).Once you are sure that the settings are correct, you simply push the output button, and watch the lights. The power supply has some bells and whistles (like settings memory), but Iâve never really seen them as being very useful.I like this power supply so much that I bought two of them.

We got this DC power supply for a friend who repairs electronics. The price was right and so far he really likes it. It’s light, small, and easy to carry. It’s also pretty quiet. The stated max voltage and current are 50V and 6A, but the max power output is 150W so be aware that you can’t max out voltage and current at the same time. But the available range covers the DC requirements of the home electronics that he works on so it’s been working out well. He appreciates how this unit clearly displays all three parameters, which is very convenient. It’s also convenient that the voltage and current can be adjusted in small increments of 0.1. And this unit also has a standard 5V/2A USB port that you can use to charge a cell phone or tablet. Overall, this is a good buy for people who like to open up and fiddle with electronic devices.

The power switch is on the back of the supply?
I like the accuracy of being able to precisely set voltages and currents, although it is a little weird spinning the BCD dials to get to your desired target settings.And I really liked the front pannel switched output contactor (now i won’t be arcing and sparking during hookup to the DUT).I only have one complaint about the power supply so far. And my complaint is about the main AC power switch. It is on the back of the supply! Why would they do that??? WHY????My bench has kind of a ‘rack mounted’ look to it, and because there are shelves directly above the shelf the powersupply sits on, now I can not reach behind the power supply to shut it off.So now I either have to leave it on all the time, or I’ll have to disconnect it from the AC some other way (unplug it, or use a wireless remote power switch.)Or I guess I can rebuild my workbench from scratch.
