it’s a perfectly cromulent laptop.
tl;dr: It fulfills my needs, it runs linux better than any surface device I’ve owned so I intend on removing Windows. If you want to know more/read me rambling on then please continue.Additionally; a forewarning: This is not an Android tablet or an iPad. It has a full x86_64 processor in it and runs the desktop/laptop versions (aka non-ARM) version of Windows. Its a good device but it has a lot of beef behind it so she’s a little thick and her battery lasts 5-6 hours but you trade those things for something midrange-y enough to play most modern games on medium to medium-high.Peformance is great. Battery life is similiar to an older surface and can last 4-6 hours. I’m sure you could push that either direction depending on how much you care about performance but I got this for drawing and don’t intend on using it as an android/apple tablet so its going to be close enough to an outlit at any point (and that’s still better battery than a steamdeck and/or rog ally tbh and yes i am aware those are an entirely different devices).I hate chatgpt/copilot-heavy nonsense. The copilot button isn’t easily rebindable which is just salt in the wound. It even came with what I can only describe as a love letter of which you are not the recipient. It just couldn’t help but babble on about a certain AI service which starts with “chat” which was… uncomfortable. Not too keen about the AI branding in general if I’m brutally honest. Feels vaguely advert-y.The kickstand cover is bad. Its not the worst kickstand I’ve ever used on a tablet (here’s looking at you, nintendo switch…) but its awkward. The magnets aren’t strong enough and I suspect that it may be intentional as the little fans (which â and if you looked up reviews for this device you would see others mention this â are just /barely/ audible when its very quiet. Its mildly disconcerting but as far as I can tell from reviews online not really worth being concerned about but if it ever does become an issue then I will update this review. Keyboard’s decent â I covered the copilot button up with a sticker â and I like its home/page up/page down/end buttons. My only complaint about it is that it can’t do the surface keyboard thing where magnets can prop it up on a slight angle. Touchpad is weirdly nice. Display looks nice and crisp and delightfully smooth. I question its strange half-size SD card slot instead of microSD but the “awesme-minisforum-v3” guide on github has one that it mentions at the bottom that works for it but any adapter that is 24.5mm in its dimensions would probably work.Linux works great on it and isn’t a huge pain to get working. GNOME is probably the only DE (desktop enviroment, so stuff like start menus) for Linux that takes touch-based input seriously. I am reasonably (-ish?) certain I get more battery in Linux but that could just be Windows downloading and installing stuff in the background without any regard for what the situation calls for. Also Ubuntu obviously would be the path of least resistance in this instance but I use kubuntu because… i dunno but compared to gnome its a little less solid in the touch department so just be aware. So yeah. It’s fine. Pretty good, even? Also my knock-off surface pen.

Amazing value if you can $1000 but the keyboard and back cover need work or another option!
This thing is amazing for minisforum’s first all in one device. This thing can game, work, and draw ( it is just okay at drawing ). all for an incredible price! and if you are willing to take a hit on some first gen quirks then this may be a device for you!The problems…The tablet by it’s self is almost perfect, and only has a few complaints. The number one issue on this thing is the kickstand/back cover it is frustrating, flimsy, and downright unusable. The magnets are weak, the lip on the edge means I am constantly pushing it off when I grab the tablet and the folding mechanism is ok but in no world should the back vents be covered on a device like this! I know you flip the cover down (which is bad design since no where else is this the norm) but it means the device is really restricted if you want to use it flat against a table!some nice to have improvements would be an sd card reader that goes entirely into the device! some extra usb c ports on the left side (not the v-link port). stronger magnets on the bottom edge of the screen so the keyboard stays at the slight angle.

Minisforum V3
This Minisforum V3 tablet is really a fast and responsive system. The build of the tablet is of good material quality. Its screen produces clear and crisp display and even when viewing a 360/480 YouTube video. The size is equivalent to a 15.6″ laptop. The only drawback is the kickstand that is supporting the tablet which it’s magnetic strength not strong enough and can come off easily when adjusting the LCD angle of viewing. But, the best thing about this tablet is the price which is at least USD800 cheaper than a Surface Pro 8/9 with equivalent hardware specifications, that is, 32GB LPDDR5 RAM and a 1TB NVMe PCIe SSD with a 165Hz LCD display at 2500x1600dpi.

Dont Purchase! – Problems – Support MIA after just days!
Update:New odd issue I noticed when I had to do some Zoom conferencing is that I cannot get usable audio out in a zoom call for some reason. Not on the onboard sound, a wired headphone set or Bluetooth headset. Just doesn’t work and have been unable to find a fix for this. I have gotten Virtualbox to work but yha not zoom audio output. For basic computing so far so good, the unit does self drain the battery when turned off and not used for a week or 2.Initial Post:Hardware Issue:Works OK after doing the 3rd fresh install.VirtualBox fails to operate well and is slow and freezes up most of the time.Might be fine for basic windows box uses.Want to like this more.+++ Supports LINUX Fedora seems to run live usb with no issues.- Poor or Short Battery Life- Poor or Short Bluetooth Range- Battery Not ReplaceableYet to use included keyboard as using a Keychron K3 Ultra-slim, windows tablet keypad sucks but is usable.UpdateWindows Issue:Beware Bitlocker will lock you out if you touch the bios!Make sure you have a key before you touch anything.FN nightmare experience!!!! Lost Papers for my summer masters program! This thing is electronics scrap!UpdateHardware Issue:New issue 10 days in is the screen seems to be blurry now. I am not sure why as the settings are at recommended settings. Personally i would not get this device. It is not ready for prime time!If I had a do over I would go for a Microsoft or Samsung, Both have amazing screens. Colors were off on this thing from day one and now with the softness i am wondering whats actually wrong with this thing. i doubt it will hold up to the test of time with issues from day one.I have used the keyboard not and i can attest that the touchpad is the worst that I have ever used. It is useless.
