Great sound and very dynamic.
So with these you gotta allow a burn in time on these. They sound hollow out of the box. Plus this allows you to play around with eartips. Then they just open up like crazy and sound almost like a completely different IEM. Dynamic and almost I would say fatiguing after a while. They’ll really pound you with sound you don’t expect coming from something this small or headphones period.They arrive in a nice box. You’ll probably want to keep it. The nicest KZ package so far. The grill design is really nice looking. People will want to see them. You may want to change the cable because these are too nice for that thin cable provided. They look like a little muscle car. Design is great.Sound: these have a V shaped sound. It’s fun. It has deep mid bass. That does not make mids sound recessed. It rather compliments the mids to give it a richer, fuller sound. Maybe too full for some. It can be fatiguing because it brings the energy. It has good imaging and pretty good soundstage. The treble is not sibilant at least to me. There is no S and T problems on tracks unless that track has that problem in the recording. You may get a hint of slight S siblance in some songs. It gets very loud. So beware for your ears at high volumes. This responds to EQ extremely well. It scales really well to more power of a amp or DAC. Again… Maybe too well so beware at high volumes. KZ ZAX Metal Black are fantastic!
So Ive been using some UE Triple-fiâs for a while and was tired of the fitment issues. Sound quality was decent but nothing mindblowing. Needed something for everyday listening but with call capability and unwired BT so I went for Bose Sound sports for a while. They worked but sound was just not impressive at all, although their BT was nice and stable the moment they broke I started to explore KZ products. Let me start by saying these 16 driver Zax are gorgeous sounding. Love that it shows me everything about a mix, nice and clear. I spotify a lot for music listening so I bring the highs a hair down and bass a hair up and I get that fantastic V shape feel.I also purchased KZ ZS10 and they sounded nice and balanced but the ZAX definitely bested them overall.Highly recommend a try. I paired these ZAX metals with their AZ09 BT set and its a match that works fantastic after trying the BT3S and KZ HD as well.

I am a touring Bassist and I use in-ear monitors. I got these as a backup for my Shure 425’s that I’ve used for years. These KZ ZAX’s blow my Shure’s away! The sound is very clear and loud! I have to turn down my receiver pack using these, which is not a bad thing. They isolate outside noise very well.The sound is clear but I do boost the bass signal slightly, but then they come alive and I can hear everything perfectly. No big deal there. I will be using these as my mains and my old Shure’s will become the backups.The only bad thing about this set is the cable. I got black ear pieces but the cable is white. Black would be preferred, but is not a deal breaker. There is no cincher on them. The manual states “memory wire” but they are not. They’re molded with a curve to go around the ear. The R and L designations are very difficult to see. So far, this is the only drawback I’ve found on these earphones. Fix these issues and my review would easily be 5 stars.In the pics, you can see a close-up of the KZ ZAX’s with the wire and a comparison to my Shure 425’s.These are really good for the price. I will update this review if anything arises with repeated use.

OMG!!
I received these earbuds and immediately started using them. And OMG, the sound is outstanding! I have them plugged into a Surfans high fidelity personal player. I record my own mp3’s at 320kbps to get the full reproduction. You still get some sound loss in the transfer but with these buds, just close your eyes and it sounds like your at a private concert. Clarity of the highs and lows are amazing. I also added an upgraded 8 core cable for less resistance. These make my upper end buds sound muffled. If you are wanting “pounding” bass these are not for you. Bass is very good, and doesn’t rattle. If you love music and want really good clarity and crisp sound these are the best I have found.The only con is the 2 week delivery time. Do your ears a favor, buy these and let them enjoy what they NEED TO HEAR.

The third time a KZ pair has done this
This is the 3rd time I’ve had the same problem with KZ earbuds. After less than a month of use, one ear is significantly quiter than the other. Do not buy KZ, they give amazing audio quality, but terrible build quality.
