Apple iPad Pro (12.9-inch, Wi-Fi, 1TB) – Space Gray (2018) (Renewed)

Perfect condition!
I purchased this on Monday morning and it was delivered Tuesday afternoon! Not a scratch to be found anywhere. It powered up seamlessly with no issues whatsoever. I did have to perform a system update that took quite a long time. I suspect that is because of the terabyte size drive. I’m new to using an iPad, so I’m going to have to go through some learning curves. The screen is snappy and very quick to move between apps. So far, so good. I had my iPhone 14pro max right next to it, and all of my data loaded right up (including passwords). The facial recognition is tricky, but I regress…that may be more of user error than anything else. I’m using the same passcode, so bypassing facial recognition isn’t complicated at all. I’ve already purchased the ESR keyboard/case for it. Now all I need is for the stylus, and I’m set. Great purchase value. These units brand new are in excess of $2K. I purchased this unit for $649. I couldn’t be more pleased.

Just received my “Renewed” 12.9″ 1TB WiFi iPad Pro (3rd Gen). Look’s Great so Far!
As most others described, it arrived in non-Apple packaging. But it was packed well enough. In fact, the iPad itself was covered in what appeared to be clean Apple pIastic wraparound. The iPad itself was flawless. I examined it closely and have found no visible scratches, no dents, or bends. It looks brand new. It also had no engraved message on the back. It makes me wonder where these “renewed”units come from. Are they from people who wanted to exchange for a Cellular iPad after opening the box? As I said, the one I received looked brand new, with no signs of any repairs. I booted right up into iOS device setup. I experienced no problems with the setup, and everything functioned exactly as I expected. As most others have described here, the charger wasn’t an original Apple 18W charger. It was some off-brand Chinese 15W USB-C charger. It does work, and I might use it, but the cable is built into the power plug, therefore it’s non-removable or usable as a data cable. But I expected that, so I also bought a well-reviewed 45W charger that included a 6′ removable USB-C power/data cable and USB-A to USB-C adapter ($33 total). The iPad was already 78% charged when I powered it up, and it looks another half hour or so for it to reach 100%. Hopefully the battery is also in excellent shape and will last for many more charge cycles.I checked the iPad’s serial number in Apple’s Warranty Lookup webpage. It showed it had a valid purchase date, but didn’t list the date. It also indicated that both telephone support and the standard Apple Warranty were expired. I normally don’t buy extended warranties for electronic devices, but I decided to make an exception this time. Mainly because I saved so much on the purchase, but also because it’s the most expensive & portable tablet I’ve ever purchased. Hopefully I’ll never need to take advantage of it, but it was much less expensive than AppleCare and includes twice the coverage period. Maybe I got suckered on the extended warranty, but even a single repair will likely cost more than that warranty purchase.So after just a couple hours of use, I am very satisfied with and would definitely recommend this “Renewed” iPad Pro to anyone who wants one at a huge cost savings over a brand new one.

This is “Like New”?
This was just gross and extremely disappointing. I was excited to receive my package today and at first glance was happy to see how well the iPad was packed. Upon removing the device from the the zip lock bag though I immediately saw and felt the crud that was all over the device. See pictures. Those aren’t just smudges – they have texture. This really was the last thing I wanted to be touching during a pandemic.All the while though I was thinking, “OK – this is disgusting but I can still wipe it down and polish it up”. That is until I saw the scratches on the front screen (also pictured). At that point I just put it all back into the box and set out to write this review.Nothing about this product lived up to the “Like new” description. I will never again purchase a refurbished product through Amazon. I’m now going to self quarantine for two weeks after touching this thing today… Buyer Beware.
