I’m not easy to impress; I’m actually rather impressed 🙂
Just received this “Wingman SNES” device and have now given it a quick test. :)[Packaging/Shipping]The device’s packaging seems well-designed to survive shipping. It arrived unscathed and precisely on time.[Firmware Upgrade]After a quick review of the Firmware Upgrade docs (labeled QR-code link on the inner packaging), I plugged it up to my PC to update firmware which, once started, processed nearly instantly.[Controller Connection]Leaving the device’s power source as USB, I then connected a standard USB-A to Micro-USB from the device’s Controller Port (USB-A) to my PS4 controller and turned the controller on. The light on the device nearly immediately stopped flashing, turning solid red – successfully connected, at least in theory.[Live Test]With everything looking good so far, I fired up my original Gold Cartridge Zelda and connected the NES controller end in; the device’s light powered on and began flashing red, as expected. Turned on the PS4 controller and got the expected solid red light on the device and solid light on the controller. Just like that, both the D-Pad and corresponding Joystick work exactly as expected with little-to-no latency in command execution, and the X and O buttons naturally mapped to A and B as expected. Swords were stomping baddies faster than ever without the base of my thumbs cramping up lol[Other Thoughts]I cannot yet comment on its durability/reliability, but the materials seem sufficiently solid.The console connectors – both NES and SNES – are very tight fits; this was a bit tricky for me, as my AV cables need replacing and I needed to not move the system to maintain the video connection. This resulting secure connection, of course, is exactly what we want, as repeated insertion and removal will inevitably loosen it a bit over time, allowing it to maintain a solid connection significantly longer.[Final Thoughts]So far, I have no complaints. The entire process was rather smooth and I’m excited to play some NHL’96 on the SNES in comfort! 😀 From what confidence I’ve gained from this and from reading various reviews for the manufacturer and their products, I may well buy another for my Player 2! *Completely* satisfied thus far and expecting no different.

Convenient, but has limitations.
This device works well although it has a limitation.It functions perfectly when being actively used. The limitation comes in if you let the controller sit idle for a while (going to get something to eat, use the rest room, etc.). Current model controllers will go to sleep in order to save the charge on the battery in the controller. This is pretty normal for all brand of controller (I tried it on a Switch Pro controller, a PS4 controller and an Xbox controller. Even a wired PS4 controller. Same issue).The problem that I experienced was that when the controller goes to sleep, it becomes unresponsive. No amount of button mashing or removing and replacing batteries will make the controller reconnect to the game. The game system will need to reboot. (Turn the game system off then back on. Needless to say, if you haven’t saved in a while, you will be decidedly UN-pleased with the situation) This reboot, restart will remedy the issue every time. Not a deal breaker, but annoying. The easy solution: save your game before letting your system set idle.Would I recommend this product? Well, yes and no.This particular model works on both the NES and SNES. I still keep it for my NES because the original NES controllers were junk, but I purchased a new Hyperkin (original style) controller for my SNES.Side note: I have one of these for both my Xbox 360 as well as one for my PS3. They have the same idle/sleep issue, I use their adapter for each of my game systems (Xbox 360, PS3) as I have not found good (imho) replacement controllers.

While it works, it isnât perfect
If you donât want to read the entire review then Iâll just say that this adaptor worked for my old (1985) NES system. Now, to the more detailed section of the review. I was skeptical when I first ordered this device because it didnât have any reviews. However, I found that it was relatively new so I went ahead & pulled the trigger. Removing it from the package & setting it up was fairly simple, it took maybe 10 minutes. I removed a star because it doesnât fit perfectly into my NES. I have to prop it up in order to allow the contact sensor to read with my system. This is a minor flaw but still something I felt worth deducting a star for. Overall, I would purchase again.

Amazing Customer Service
Was planning to use this for Super Metorid, but realized the hitbox mode hotkeys would interfere with using the select key as “item deselect”. Emailed Brook support and they immediately sent me a beta version which adjusted the hitbox mode switch hotkeys to something impossible to do accidentally. Very satisfied customer!

Retron 5 Compatibility
I tried to get it to work on the snes controller of my retron 5 and it did NOT work, I tried a ps4 controller, Xbox series 2 controller and a Switch controller, none of them worked.Every time I tried to plug in the controller and pressed anything the controller would freak out and press random buttons and eventually controller would not respond.

Es funktioniert für viele Kontroller, was ziemlich gut ist. Komisch ist, dass der PS5 Kontroller nur im Bluetooth mode und nicht mit Kabel funktioniert. Plastik wirkt etwas billig. Aber es tut was es soll und hat bei meinem original snes und dem superNT super funktioniert.Kann den Wingman snes converter nur weiter empfehlen.

J’ai pris cet adaptateur pour brancher mon stick arcade Mayflash 500 sur ma Super Nintendo. Il marche parfaitement dessus !Il marche bien également avec le pad 8bit do SN30 Pro et ma Dualsense. La manette Super Nes Switch ne se connecte pas contrairement avec mon adaptateur BlueRetro (mais avec un mapping inversé sur 2 boutons).

Great product, worked straight away with PAL snes system, no issues. Makes games that need 360° turning easy as the analog sticks are registered so no my smashing thumbs between right/ up on jumping games etc.Perfect item
