so they are good phones. They do everything needed of an SIP …
These aren’t the highest end phones, but made by PolyCom, so they are good phones. They do everything needed of an SIP phone, but not with all the bells and whistles of higher end phones. Great phones.

Reliable and clear
We have ordered these several times and we have 50 of them now. Most of the negative reviews I see on here are because of lack of knowledge about configuration or the users network issues. These are great VOIP phones and we have used them successfully for years to replace old Polycom 501 phones. We have not had a failure out of more than 50 of these VVX 300. We do have our own internal Zultys VOIP PBX so that makes configuration easy.

INCREDIBLY LAGGY PHONES
Worked great for a few months…Then became incredibly laggy. We have 4 phones in the office, and they all ring late after someone has picked up. Take forever to transfer calls, sometimes drops them during transferring to another phone.Takes 10+ seconds sometimes to register a call after being picked up.NOT Good. For any extended use, they are seemingly degrading at a very rapid pace. Have not even had a year and they’ve been doing this stuff for months. Can’t feel good about a review on these without putting 1 star.

It was incredibly easy to setup
I have been using this phone for about a year in my home office. It was incredibly easy to setup, much easier than another phone I own (Grandstream). The sound and build quality are great. There are not a bunch of fancy features, but what it lacks there it makes up for it quality. I highly recommend it if you need an inexpensive VoIP phone

Great phone for home office – Office 365 Skype for Business
I’m using this as a home office phone, integrating with Office 365’s Skype for Business PSTN feature… I love it. So a couple things of note: 1) It doesn’t come with a power supply, so you’ll need to buy a power supply or make sure you can plug it into a POE Switch or POE Injector. 2) Out of the box it didn’t have the necessary firmware to work with Office 365 Skype for Business. So you’ll need to upgrade the firmware to the latest and greatest to configure it to use Skype for Business.

Update the firmware for Skype for Business
Skype for Business users: Before you even THINK about using this phone for SFB, make sure you update to at least ver 5.6. Mine came with 4.1 and was useless. You can easily upgrade the ver via the web interface. Also, once you enable SFB, the web interface doesn’t work anymore unless you re-enable it on the phone. (in advanced settings). It’s also best if you use the Polycom BToE software. All this is 20/20 to me now, but I was about to return this phone until I watched a few youtube vids to get me through the initial setup.I’ll update my review after a few weeks, but for now it’s working fine with Skype.

Now, I bought this for personal use so can’t comment on how good it is for office use today, but here goes. This is a Polycom VVX300, a desk phone that I think released in 2013 and has surprised me slightly. Its simple black casing definitely makes it feel a bit more pro than the Cisco SPA504G I once tried to set up, and while a bit on the chunky side that’s not a bad thing. The display is I think two inches diagonal and is monochrome, but I think that’s good. You don’t always need a massive display and the fact it’s monochrome just makes it easier to read in my opinion. You can set the backlight brightness in active or idle modes and can choose from four brightness values – high, medium, low or off. Personally when active I set the backlight to medium brightness and when idle it turns off completely. It was easy to set up for the most part. Out of the box mine had already been factory reset and switched to the generic profile, despite having a sticker on the back telling me it was set up for a Microsoft Lync server (remember that?) or a Skype for Business login. I went to the web UI and entered the details for both my lines and it picked them up right away. As for how you power it – well, you can either use an external power supply (not included here) or you can use a power over Ethernet (PoE) in-line injector or a PoE switch to send power over an Ethernet cable. I went the PoE injector route – you will need one that can output 48V.As a side note, this phone can have an impressive 34 lines registered! I imagine that’s only if you get the expansion module, but still, wow.Call quality is about what I expected. Typical phone quality but without the hiss. That I do like. The volume of the earpiece speaker is a little low but that could just be me. The loudspeaker however can get very loud. When it comes to the interface it can be a bit… Annoying to wrap your head around at first, but you get used to it. If you’ve used a Polycom desk phone before you’ll probably know it better than I do several times over. The only issue I had was with incoming calls not going through, and that ultimately is a network issue, not with the phone. I had to tell it its public IP address and set the keep alive packet interval to 30 seconds, and then all has been fine since. If you want a desk phone? Get one of these. They’re cheap and work very well. They may not be as modern but their firmware got its final update in September of last year. They may be EOL but they’re still good for quite a while.Good stuff.
