    Quality IEMs
I’ve been using these since Dec 2020. I play electric and acoustic guitar in a band with 7 other musicians. We play about one or two gigs per week. I’ve tried several different IEMs and can safely say that for me at least, these are my favorite. They are a little pricey but the sound and durability justify it for me. Your mileage may vary.

    The search is finally over!!!!
I am finally finished with my search for a quality set of earbuds!! I was beginning to wonder if such an animal was even possible with this style of monitor. This is the 5th pair I have owned in the last 30 days and with each purchase and return I have had to add more money to the total amount trying to spend as little as possible to have the quality needed for a bass player to be able to track with on stage. I started out with the Shure 112 moving to the Shure Se215 immediately and then to the Audio Technica IM02 to the Future Sonic G10 and have now sunk more than I had ever thought reasonable into these Audio Technica ATH-E70’s. They are the real deal but to me still seem overpriced. I am glad though at least I didn’t have to spend stupid money like $3000 or even $1500 to get this quality of sound. So I just got these today but upon trying them out for just a little while I can tell right away that they are what I have been looking for. The sound is full and gives me everything I want to hear as a bass player. I can tell that they won’t give me trouble falling out and can tell that they are made with extremely high build quality. The fit is amazing and I don’t have to worry about them hurting my ears by pressing on my outer ear too much like the Shure se215’s did. I am super happy with the product itself but just wish it came at a lower price point so I could refer the rest of my band members to them. You’re not going to find your average worship team volunteer willing to sink $400 into a pair of earbuds but unfortunately to get a sound that makes you want to put them on that’s how much it costs…. I challenge anyone to find a set that has the type of audio quality and range of deep all around sound that these have at a lower price.

    Awesome
Edit: actually the sound is excellent. They’re compared to westone w80, noble k10 etc… Those iems run you around 2k. Also said to be better than $3000 layla.Edit: actually the fit is fine or not as bad if your not too mobile. But for going outside, not so great. But sound is really goodEdit 2: anyone complaining about sibilance is more than likely listening to bad recordings or a bad source. Because these are reference, they only reproduce the recording or source. If you have a song that was recorded bad, these will actually sound worse than other iems. But if you’re listening to music with good quality production, these will sound leaps and bounds better than other iem in their price range and below.

    For $400, I expect better
I bought these a couple years ago when I first started experimenting with the IEM world because I have the M50X over ears and know that they’re widely regarded as being pretty solid for the price, so I figured the E70 would also come with a certain amount of quality. My naive untrained ears thought they were ok, but coming back to them now, they’re laughably bad. I’ve gotten way deeper into the IEM/audiophile world at this point and I found these in a drawer and decided to pop them in to see what they sounded like now with my matured knowledge of the hobby, and hooooooo boy. Muffled mids and muddy bass accompanies the only thing the E70s have going for them, which is decent treble. Also I have no idea what kind of connector these use for the cable, but it’s not an MMCX like I first thought, so I don’t even know what replaceable cables exist for the E70, because the stock cable is pretty awful. They’re also FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS, which is insane when you consider the poor audio quality. I’ve heard better IEMs in the sub-$100 price bracket at this point. And in a similar price bracket, you could get the Moondrop Blessing 2 for $320 and they blow the E70 out of the water. If you want to go higher, for $520 you could get the Moondrop Variations, widely regarded as a competitor for a $1000 end game IEM for half the price. I just don’t understand the point of the E70 when comparing it to other offerings within the space, especially now with new competitors being introduced to all sorts of price brackets nearly every month. The Audiotechnica E70s simply are not competitive, if they ever were, and your money would be better spent elsewhere.

I’ve been lucky to have grown up on the signature Audio-Technica sound after using ATH-CK10, ATH-IM02, ATH-M50 over the last decade. Their balanced armature earphones remain my favorite. Unfortunately, I lost my IM02 back in 2019 so I was waiting for the right time to buy a new model. When they released the E50/E70 I was surprised that they replaced their dual-armature models with a single BA in the E50. I had my doubts that the E50 sound could match the sound of CK10 and IM02.I was wrong. The E50, even with its single balanced armature driver, sounds much better throughout the frequency range compared with the CK10 and IM02. – both of which has 2 BA drivers. The E50 sounds more detailed, more lush, with better extension in the lower-end, significantly wider soundstage, and a little brighter without having any harshness in the top-end than anything else I’ve owned in the last 10 years. It beats both the CK10 and ATH-IM02 in my opinion.Unfortunately, the first earphones I received were broken, heavily used and with missing accessories and retail box. Not the best experience when buying 18K earphones online. Thankfully, customer support at Amazon was quick to order a replacement when I raised a complaint with pictures. I finally received a brand new piece (after 2 weeks total) in replacement so now I feel satisfied.Lesson: ALWAYS take a video of opening the delivery box/package when buying expensive electronic gear from Amazon as the customer support will always doubt your claims unless you show them a video or clear pictures of your faulty package.I’m very happy with the earphones and I plan on keeping them for a long time.

Really excellent sound, well made, decent case and various earhole gubbinses for good fit. The cable is fairly sturdy, too. Mine are now several years old and they’ve been worth the cost. Slightly bulkier earpieces, compared to Shure equivalent (535) and not quite as comfortable, but better built and to my ears slightly better sound quality.
