An excellent voip phone for the money. Works great with 3CX.
We did a rollout of nearly 200 phones with a new phone system a few years ago and used a less expensive phone (Fanvil X4) as our base phone. After replacing a relatively high percentage of problematic phones with this specific Grandstream, I wish we would have had the budget to deploy these from the very beginning. They are about twice as heavy, sounds considerably better, have a better web GUI, and physical layout. These also come with their own power cords, which is such a creature comfort when planning expansions they may or may not have PoE available.

    Decent IP Phone
This is a decent IP phone for the money. The setup was pretty straightforward (not much different than software VOIP clients) and connected to my PBX straightaway with a couple of SIP accounts. The sound quality is really good (only tested G722).

A very good SIP phone with some goofy quirks.
We just deployed 50+ of this model where I work. I would say this is a very good, if not excellent daily driver SIP phone for a business. Especially at this price point. You get a nice color LCD screen and four pages of BLF softkeys. The phone is also pretty attractive and looks fairly professional despite the price. However, it’s got a few quirks:1. The built-in ringtones other than the default are absolutely awful, and they are not volume-matched. So, if you have your ringer volume adjusted to the level you want to hear the default ring at, then a call comes in that is set to use another ringtone based on CID or alert-info, the ring is deafening. Who put these ringtones together??2. So I had to find a decent custom ringtone online to replace one of the built-ins. The process of getting them on the phone is time-consuming and overly complicated. You can’t just upload one through the web interface. No, you need to convert a WAV with Grandstream’s proprietary software to their own format, then put that file on an HTTP or FTP server, then configure each phone to know to look there. That’s fine for massive deployments where you configure it in the provisioning template, but I’m surprised there’s no simple upload function for when you just have a few phones that need a custom ringtone.3. You can’t use the phonebook to select somebody when transferring a call. You have to use a BLF button or dial the extension. I don’t understand this at all, that seems like a pretty basic feature that should be implemented.4. Apparently I found a new bug that Grandstream hadn’t known about yet. If you change the fourth VPK to anything other than the default, almost all buttons stop working unless you change the call screen to “Account mode” under “VPK Settings” -> “Call screen settings” in the web interface. It sounds like they’re working on a fix, but this workaround is the solution.5. The screen is kind not high resolution, so long caller IDs get cut off unless you press the “Hide labels” button.I know this sounds like I’m trashing this phone in this review, but I’m really not. It’s a very good phone overall. Any SIP phone will have some quirks, this one maybe has a few more baffling ones than most, but this thing just can’t be beat for the features vs price. It performs well, and our users seem quite happy with these! If we’d have gone with say, Yealink phones, our costs would have been more than double and I doubt I’d have gotten the PBX upgrade project approved.Bottom line, if you’re looking for budget phones that mostly perform like a phone that costs twice as much, you really can’t go wrong with the GXP21xx series.

    This is amazing
EXACTLY what I needed. I added a new line today after that picture. So there are 4 from all over the USA. Works great. Audio is clear and clean. I have never had any Grandstream product fail on me. I have had a Grandstream ATA for years. But I needed to have more lines and just retire the ATA, so this was the answer. It can handle 4 lines, not 8. The other 4 lines are for speed dial, and are not lines, just places for you to program these options. You do need at least one account, and up to 4 accounts with a VOIP provider(s). You do need to understand the connection details for this to work. It doesn’t work on your typical phone lines. It connects to your router via a Cat5 network cable.

    Can’t get on line.
Can’t register the product for use online. Instructions are useless – Their Utube Videos cover everything except getting the phone online. Real nice instructions on opening the box and fitting the phone together, but pure gobbly-gook on setting it up and getting a dial tone.I’m sending it back – don’t waste your time.

Great phone. I hope to add sip accounts that can fully use it.
Great phone. Unfortunately, my sip provider only allows one line at a time, and transfers are handled via touch tonw. I wonder if the phone can merge the two within the phone if I got a second from them. I know I can have multiple sip providers one per “line”/ appearance. 4 of which for this phone. I actually have this at home, and it’s great to glance down and see the weather without grabbing my cell or turning on the tv in the morning.

    Easy setup, small display
Great price and functionality, power adapter included. The display is small and hard to read. Also, the ringer options are awful. Wish there were more BLF buttons.

This is the second of these IP phones I have bought, which are installed on a FreePBX system.Setup is OK if you know what you’re doing, but as with most IP telephony kit there are way more features than generally needed and mostly for backwards compatibility.A quick start or FreePBX wizard would be a good enhancement to the web based admin/setup console. Will buy again and would recommend.
