    AWESOME Machine!
Friend convinced me to shift to a Chromebook and I couldn’t be happier with this one! Large screen makes everything easy. I’ve always found it difficult to touch the edge of the screen with the cursor enough to get the slide bar to come up with Chromebooks before and the touchscreen solves this perfectly! Great volume on speakers. Incredible graphics quality for software and video playback like with Netflix. Easy to setup and battery seems to last forever. Absolutely LOVE the machine!

    Great Computer for the price
I bought this computer after reading multiple reviews on Amazon.com. This seemed the best for the value (I bought this about a week ago for $275, just over $310 with taxes and free shipping) and so far this has not disappointed! If you are new to Chromebooks, this has good interface that is similar but improved from windows. The keyboard is responsive with no issues, the touchscreen responds well and the touchpad works well. I have a few minor issues with trying to figure out how to run an external DVD/CD +RW driver, but otherwise this computer works very well. I highly recommend it but as i stated above I’ve only been using this for a week. I’ll post an update to this review in about 6 months. So far it’s great!

1080p DISPLAY IS CRISP, SHARP & HAS GREAT CONTRAST
I’VE OWNED SEVERAL CHROMEBOOKS. THIS IS THE FIRST WITH BOTH TOUCH-SCREEN & LIGHTED KEYBOARD. I AM NOW RETIRED AND USE IT SEVERAL HOURS A DAY. I WRITE, LISTEN TO MUSIC, SHOP, RESEARCH INVESTMENTS, SEND & RECEIVE EMAIL AND EVEN WATCH MOVIES & VIDEOS. PHOTOGRAPHY IS A HOBBY AND MY PICTURES LOOK STUNNING ON THIS DISPLAY. THE ONLY THING I MISS IS BEING ABLE TO WATCH MOVIES ON DVD AS CHROMEBOOK DOESN’T SUPPORT THAT. BUT I HAVE A MAC MINI & LARGE SCREENS FOR WATCHING DVD. ALL IN ALL, FOR ME, THIS MACHINE IS A REAL WORK-HORSE AND I’M GLAD I BOUGHT IT.

If You Need a 15 inch Screen and Backlit Keys
There aren’t too many choices in 15 inch Chromebooks. Even fewer if you want a backlit keyboard. And if you want your touchpad centered, i.e., no number pad, then the choices are even fewer. I’m a writer, i.e., no need for num pad, but having a good amount of deck to support each of my wrists is important. Being able to type in semi-darkness means a lighted keyboard is a must. The 15 inch 16:9 screen is great for Split Screen use: Google Docs on one side, News Feed or Android App on the other. No fan means no distracting fan noise or blocking vents to worry about in the bed. Since it opens all the way, it functions well for when I’m reclining in couch potato mode with legs bent and the chromebook opened flat resting on my thighs. The screen is quite decent; viewing angles are fairly wide. The upward facing speakers come through loud & clear; quite sufficient for youtube videos, or if you want better quality sound you can pull out your bluetooth headset, or even a plug-in. And it weighs in at less than 4 lbs; not bad for a 15 incher. I don’t use the touch screen much except for sometimes pinch-to-zoom to enlarge some text, but you can do the same with the touchpad and not muck up the screen with your finger grease. Now for the not-so-good: There’s no fan because it’s not a high-powered processor, which means it seems a bit slow at times. So if you get itchy after waiting 5 seconds to load a page, or bounce around with 20 tabs open, this one’s not for you. There just isn’t a laptop keyboard that compares with a mechanical keyboard; I could wish for a couple more millimeters of key travel. Some people will complain that the touchpad isn’t glass; to me it seems adequate, and like all touchpads, you get used to its quirks after awhile. Some will complain that 32 GB means there is not much storage available, but that’s what the cloud is for, or your SD card. This computer is a cheap build, i.e., all plastic, but for me this is mostly an at-home computer; I’m not looking for military specs. And heck, what were you expecting for 300 bucks? There’s hardly anything else at this price with this much to offer in the 15 inch size.

Update: Connects to Google Play only using regular Gmail – not Using G Suite
Original Review: (Please see update below) Easy enough to set up, but the Google Play option did not light up to turn on. Updated the operating system. nothing. reset to factory settings. nothing. Spent two chat sessions with Acer techs. nothing. There are apps I need to download for work, so Google Play was a must.Update: Before returning I decided to try logging on with my regular gmail account. I really wanted my work G suite account to be default, but also didn’t want to have to bother returning. That turned out to be the reason why I could not connect to Google Play. Yes, I had gone into G suite admin settings to make sure Google Play was turned on for all users. It still didn’t give me the option to download Google Play for the work email that I’m the admin of. Making instructions for doing this easier to find would be helpful. All in all, for the price, this machine in a weeks time has already paid for itself. The trackpad is a bit picky – very sensitive – so I have to pay close attention to what I’m doing (what a tragedy, right? 🙂 ) and I sometimes have to do the fix to reset the trackpad when it is slow to respond. Not a huge deal for what I use it for. It’s very light. It doesn’t slide off my lap. It’s a Chromebook… not a high end laptop. It does the job I bought it for very well for a really low price. Changed from one star to five and will update if anything changes.

    Love this!
This is my third Acer since COVID. I bought the first with my “essential worker bonus money”… I am very hard on my equipment and I might have dropped the one too many times. The second one, the charging port fell out when I was removing the charging cord. I did use the charging port on the other side until that also failed. I love the size of the monitor and the ease of use. I also REALLY need to be able to have the Kindle App on my laptop, I purchased one that was an “upgrade” but would not accept the kindle App. My son uses that one now.

It’s so light and sleek and compact and fast and is almost certainly all the computer most people will ever need. With Chrome you get the full suite of Google products for spreadsheets and word processing and cloud storage and it is all integrated with Gmail and the other Google products. It’s solid state drive so no long start ups – just comes right up. My daughter got a new Macbook which cost 8 times more than my Chromebook! Unless you need to install big programs for music, video editing or other system hungry stuff just get a Chromebook. This works great for Zoom, any social media, word processing, spreadsheets, playing videos/music etc. Just get a Chromebook.
