    HP 8300 Elite i7
I was very hesitant to buy a refurbished computer, but was encouraged by some of the previous reviews. I needed to replace the computer due to the phase out of Windows 7. The original shipment had the incorrect computer – only an i5 processor vs the i7 ordered. The seller responded very quickly regarding the return and re-shipment of the correct computer at no additional cost to me. The computer was clean and basically new except for some minor marks on the tower. It works very well and very fast with none of the “bloatware” that comes with many retail purchased computers. I am happy to get a Windows 10 Pro – i7 machine cheaper than an i5 windows 10 Home machine. It has plenty of space for me to add a 4-tb hard drive – it was plug-n-play, very simple. Final Tower was provided as specified in professional packaging. I did replace the keyboard and mouse with upgraded hardware at my choice – no worries – plug-n-play. The solid state drive is an excellent attribute enabling fast response with working files and programs. The four USB 3.0 ports (all located on the rear of the tower) are quite fast and easily identified with their blue color.Only negatives & suggestions: 1) I was getting an error with some of the times it booted, but it appears that the issue may have been corrected with some recent updates; 2) It would be convenient to have one or two USB 3.0’s on the front of the tower. All USB’s on the front are 2.0’s; 3) HDMI port would have been a nice attribute, but the digital monitor output works great.

I have two of these. Great performing HP PC! HP Elite 8300CMT.
I got this HP PC from Sunset Micro and I was able to contact them and they installed the OS that I wanted at no additional charge. One of the categories is about gaming and I give this PC four stars only because it comes with 8GB of RAM. I have increased the RAM in this PC with 32GB. I do graphic art work so I need a lot of RAM.If you need a REAL computer this is the one I recommend. The value that you get is exceptional.

About what I expected, but better
I’ve purchased refurb units before (primarily for others), and have been pretty impressed. This one is no exception. When my old desktop bit the dust, I was looking for an inexpensive replacement. Stallion Tech did a great job cleaning it up and installing Windows 10 and the hardware. There was no bloat ware – other than what is installed with Windows. Although it was a day or two late in arriving, it was worth the wait.First, it came with keyboard, mouse, a display port to HDMI adapter. The WIFI is via a dongle installed into one of the rear USB ports. I’ll be using this wired, so removed the dongle. I also stayed with my old keyboard and mouse, so can’t comment on those (they are still in the boxes). I did pop open the case. The 8 GB of RAM is via 2 DDR3 4GB memory cards. I did add 2 more modules to get to 16GB.The Win10 setup went quickly, with just a minimum amount of info to be provided to get set up and running. The Win10 build was the most current, and I didn’t have to go through multiple updates. There was one update, and it went smoothly and quickly.Once I installed some of my software and did a reboot, I became more impressed, The combination of the processor and the installed SSD, a cold boot took under 10 seconds.A few cons: 1) the WiFi is not built in, but a USB dongle. 2) there is no memory card reader. This is made compensated by having 10 USB ports (6x 2.0 in rear, 4x 3.0 via front panel) 3) for some reason, this would not recognize my 3 TB external (Toshiba) hard drive. It did eventually, but only after reformatting and assigning a drive letter. No loss for me on this, as it was relatively unused. 4) It’s a HP/Compaq case, of which I’ve never be fond. The Pros: 1) the 4 core i7 processor is fast. 2) the 240 GB SSD is fast 3) the 2 TB drive has enough real estate to store just about anything. 4) The price point makes buying an equivalent new system at 3x the price a ridiculous proposition.

    Great Value, Nice Machine
I give 4 starts because of the proprietary power supply configuration, otherwise all else is standard. Well built / engineered case with plenty of room for additions. Good BIOS settings for power and security management etc.Has PCIE x 16 slot for adding a good video card instead of the built in one (which I got) Really like the computer over all, worked great right out of the box. I upgraded from a very old system, and am very happy with the performance. Games look amazing.

    Super performance for the money!
Works GREAT, especially for the price! I bought for my daughter to play Sims, and the only problem she has now is the occasional network lag. Would highly recommend this for kids, as an alternative to the pricier models. The processing speed and graphics work well for online gaming, videos, and multitasking.Great value!

Not worth the time or money
I have only had the item for 5 months almost to the day and it seems the hard drive crashed. I am not able to get it to run and the fan blows so hard that it sounds like it is going to take off or explode. I know that sometimes you get a lemon, but I am not able to get any response from the seller or Amazon on getting a replacement or some kind of partial refund. I would not purchase this item.

    Gamer? Keep looking.
Found out (too late) this won’t take a decent wattage PS to power my video card. The computer works okay, but don’t count on upgrading it for gaming.

Okay so at first I wanted to return this computer back the seller. This computer has the worst video card possible, an on board Intel that won’t even play the simplest games. So I tried to hook up my older AMD video card but discovered there’s no 24 pin connector on the motherboard. After doing some research I found an adapter on Amazon for around 15 bucks. I was also dismayed to see this computer only has a 320 watt power supply. Ugh! So my day was this, I took my 600 watt power supply out of my old computer and hooked up to this one. I took my AMD R9 270x GPU and installed it. I’m not a computer expert but this machine is working like a charm! Sure it’s an older i7 but everything is working perfectly! So if you buy this computer and want to game, expect to do some work. But if you need it for basic computing without modifications it will serve you well. Overall pretty happy with this rig!

Trouble from the start. Had to get tech help just to make the included keyboard work. Software did not match. Should have returned but they talked me out of it. Now 9 months later the disk drive is toast. Would not buy here again ! Just found out that they put in a 5 yr old Hard Drive and a cheap off brand SSD . Trying now for repair – Diagnostic plus parts plus labor about $400. Kind of a ripoff !

Received the computer today. I am disappointed. The unit looks old, has 2 DVD optical drives, memmory cards reader, really, a primitive installed SD drive and a corded mouse and keyboard. Who is using this in 2020?Did not manage to start it yet, I have no DP to DVI adapter, just ordered one. The case is full of dust and no manual or indication where to get support. I will try HP, not sure if they will help.I do not recommend this, and, I am thi to send it back.
