AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 8-core, 16-Thread Desktop Processor with AMD 3D V-Cache Technology

It works BETTER than my AMD 5900X & It STAYS WAY COOLER!!!
EVERYTHING THEY SAY ABOUT THIS CPU IS TOTALLY TRUE!!! I had MAJOR cooling problems with my 2 y.o. AMD 5900X after I had to reinstall my Win 10 Pro… Before I had to do this I NEVER had any issues with the older CPU, yet right AFTER the reinstall finished my temps went from a comfortable mid 40’s to high 50’s (Cel. not Far.) and no matter what I tried to do (changed my cooler from the AWESOME Noctua D-15 to the even MORE Awesome ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III 420 (which is TOTAL OVERKILL!) into the HIGH 70’s with it maxing out OVER 96 C!!! BUT… After I put this C.P.U. in my “at rest” temps are 34 to 36 C and at FULL TILT gaming (Baldur’s Gate 3, CyberPunk 2077 – Phantom Liberty ed.) it NEVER get any higher than 58C… EVER!!! AND – the games are now ACTUALLY playing smoother, FASTER in EVERY RESPECT!!! That is more than I expected! I figured that since I use this PC for mostly YT videos OR Gaming the old 5900X was just doing NOTHING but sitting around waiting for something to do (since that older processor is more for doing databases or number crunching… NOT for GAMING!!! This C.P.U. IS MADE FOR ONE THING AND ONE THING ONLY: PLAY GAMES AND DO IT BETTER THAN ANY OTHER AMD AM4… PERIOD!!! This has been NOTHING but a HUGE PLUS ACROSS THE BOARD for me since this PC was MADE to play games! I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER buying this CPU!!!

I bought a 3950x in Jan 2020. It was a great upgrade over my 2700x. 2700x was the top 2000 series chip. 3950x was the top 3000 series chip. I upgraded to a 7800xt gpu from a 5700xt and decided that the 3950x, while it possessed a monstrous 16 cores and 32 threads, was holding me back in gaming. So I bought this cheaper 5800x3d to replace it. The 5800x3d (only) has 8 cores and 16 threads. This may seem light compared to the 3950x, but remember, the 3950x was a $800 halo cpu on its release date and a production monster. I already had a 240mm AIO liquid cooler. The newer Zen 3 architecture (over the 3000 series Zen 2 and 2000 series Zen+ architecture) and 3d cache is a great upgrade over the 16 core behemoth. The programs that I use cannot utilize all of the threads of the 3950x anyway. In video rendering, I’d never seen over 40% cpu usage with the 3950x. I have not done any video rendering with the 5800x3d, but I believe it will be comparable to the 3950x in my programs. I do know that my fps have increased. This chip cannot be overclocked. That may be a turn-off for some; but this chip is the fastest am4 socket cpu without needing to overclock. The am4 socket is dead. Am5 is the current gen socket. If you want to breathe a little more life into your older ddr4 system, this is a great upgrade. About the only other option that I’d consider is a 5950x.. but that chip does not feature the 3d cache. The physical parts swapping procedure is simple. My 4 year old assisted me in the process. I used Thermal Grizzly Hydronaut thermal paste. It has performed well for me in the past and this is no exception. I bought the 5800x3d cpu approximately a month ago and have zero regrets. With all of the graphics settings maxxed on Minecraft at 1080p resolution, I was pumping out approx. 770fps while looking at the sky. I know that minecraft is a very easy game to run, but I’ve seen very good framerates in every game I’ve played. With this cpu, I know that cpu bottlenecking is minimized regardless of what gpu I choose to run in the future. After I deem this cpu to be insufficient, it will be time for a whole new mobo and ram kit and cpu for my next build. But for now, this is a great way to add a few years of life to the computer that I originally built in 2017 with crossfire RX580 gpus.

This is a beast of a CPU, the 3D V-cache literally increased my fps upwards of 30 in certain games. It does run hot if you don’t have a 360MM AIO, but if you use PBO2 and undervolt all cores by -25 you’re good to go and it won’t hit 60c while gaming. It made gaming waaaaaaaay smoother, I don’t even notice any fps drops. This thing is awesome, worth the price, buy it.
