The Idea CPU for my new Rockin’ Shazamin’ Gaming Computer!
I had waited almost 2 years to get this CPU! And, the time came when I finally broke down, and bought it. Searched, and searched, and found a buyer that was decent in price, and wasn’t used–not that if it’s used it’s bad, but I really wanted a new one, and this was a very special build for my DragonSlayer II! The seller sold it quickly, and packaged it up really well. Thanks!

    Nice Boost To Multitasking
The extra cache and HyperThreading made multitasking smoother and even improved frame rates a bit. Will prevent me from having to do a full upgrade for another year (or more).

The cpu will not post with more than one stick of ram
This is the 4th time I’ve tried to leave this review…No post with more than 1 stick of ram.System build-I7 3770k (previously i5 2500)Gigabyte z77 ud5h moboGigabyte hd 7970My brother wanted a gaming pc, I had a shelf of parts from customers computers they donated. Either cause the system was old or the motherboard/gpu needed logic board repair that i don’t have enough experience in to offer as a repair service. So I used a known good motherboard from an old computer and a cpu out of a Dell system with a compatible cpu and built the system around my old gpu that I had managed to revive. He wanted to upgrade it and either stream or record his games. I never had issues with the gpu he has so I figured the cpu/ram could use an upgrade as the one I gave him couldn’t overclock. My system has a xeon x5675 so I knew that the cpu difference would give my system an unfair advantage. That and the larger cpu cache size. So I looked around found a cheap i7 3770k on Amazon and got him some more ram as well as a scythe Mugan 5 cpu cooler so we could do some minor overclocking. However after installing the new cpu and cooler. The system would not post.Checked firmware. No further bios update available.Reset bios to factory settings, maybe there was something I missed or didn’t pay attention to. Still didn’t help.Swapped cpu cooler back to stock intell. NothingTook out all ram leaving one after reinstalling the scythe cooler. System boots up and posts. Clears windows no problem. It continued to post regardless of which slot I used for the single stick of ram. And regardless of which stick of ram I used. Now im thinking maybe its something stupid like a screw stuck behind the mobo in the case. So I continued all further testing out of the case.No change. System will not boot with more than one stick of ram regardless of which slot that one stick is in.I’ve been doing this a while so I went back to the old i5 to verify that the mobo was still good. And the system goes back to normal with the i5 installed. No ram issues even with max memory supported installed in dual channel on 4 slots.I figure I overlooked something with motherboard compatibility so I ordered a different motherboard I have experience with the i7 3770k working on as it was a friends computer. Lmao come tho think of it its an identical build with the same gpu. After swapping out the motherboard the system still persisted to have the issue again, only with the i7 and not the i5. I look at the i7 pin pads. And notice the 5 that are responsible for the memory controller circuit seem worn through like someone messed with the screw on the motherboard and over tightened the lga socket. But we have never messed with either and neither mobo has a stiff lever beyond what is normal for this socket.I checked the i5 and the pad damage is not there.I have tried 3 times since this purchase to get a refund or a replacement to no avail.

Great I7 on older generation platform by Intel.
Not much to say about an older CPU but that its a solid performing CPU to max out the Z77 chipset.

Please let me start by point out I do some intense gaming and intense video editing as well as he light load stuff like word documents ect for college,As a computer student, I knew what I was going to need to give me the ‘horse power’ in all round applications. And the I7 3770K is great for this. Whilst only having 4 physical cores, it can be hyper-threaded into 8 cores. I had previously read that this wasnt as good as an 8 physical cored processor -as your probably have guessed, but I went ahead with my purchase.Instillation was relatively simple, but I was still neverous at placing the brackets back over – I didint want to damage a pin on a £250 CPU. But everything installed great! Please note, this does require 2x 6 pin power for the PSU.After instillation I done what any other self confessed geek would do; I jumped straight into my benchmark software. Firstly, I tried the Intel Burn Test -which isn’t actually made by intel. This little piece of software seen all 8 threads jump up to 100% load and reached around 68 Degrees Celsius. On a after market Corsair H60 Cooler.I then used 3D Mark 11 and Vantage, unfortunately I do not have these results to share but the end result wasn’t stunning but it was highly respectable. But I guess it more of a work load based thing. So I opened up my Sony Vegas Pro 12 (64 Bit) and started doing some video editing. The results were brillant! I edit in 1920x1080p full HD and the CPU was utilizing all threads for the work @ around 50-60%. I then rendered the video and the cores reached the expect 60-80% work load and raised to 50 Degrees Celsius. My 10 minute video was done in 7 minutes! I was astonished! I was previously using an AM3 AMD Phenom x4 955 BE and that took up to and hour for a similar piece! But for the gamers out there, I highly recommend this! It will be coming down in price and games will start to use those all importent threads within the next couple of years. Especially since the next gen consoles have up to 8 cores! You’re really wanting a system that will run games brillantly. As I said, video editing wise this is dandy but in-games it’s actually great! I play things like Shogun 2 and the recent Total War installments and the thing runs them great – I dont have any stats sorry, but It copes with any issues in 4v4 land battles at 50-60 FPS. Please note, I use a dedicated video card (GTX 570 2.5 GB).Overall,I love this CPU! It idles at around 30 Degrees for me and is clocked perfectly-I haven’t tried O.C yet. But Im confident in doing so in the future. If you do alot like the things above, Get this! You’ll not regret it!My Specs:Mo/Bo: ASUS Maximus V GeneRAM: 8 GB : 1333 MhzGPU: EVGA GTX 570 HD 2.5 GBCPU: I7 3770K @ 3.5 GhzPSU: X-Case 900 WattCase: X-Case S1
