Solid IP Phone at a lower cost.
Better than I expected! I wish this had a backlight, but works very well!I am using this with Asterisk and was very easy to setup via the web configuration tool. Sounds good.I purchased this over a year ago. Still going strong!

Ok phone for the price but spend the extra for a great phone.
I’m using ringroost.com for my VoIP phone service. I love the Virtual PBX feature. I started ringroost.com using the Grandstream GPX1405 phone but I had poor voice quality, had to unplug phone to reboot every couple of days… I switched to the Obihai OBi1032 phone and I’ve been very happy since. This phone works great with ringroost.com. If there is a problem with service, I see the button for that number go to an orange color (happens rarely) and then it disappears. I haven’t had to restart the phone in over 50 days.

    Absolute JUNK!
We’ve had this phone for 6 months, and it has been an absolute nightmare of a phone. An utterly pompous web UI with a million settings, but when push comes to shove, like expecting this POS to remain ON and give us a continuous dial tone (noble concept for a desk phone!), then you probably should spend your money buying a completely different phone as this is pure JUNK! I’m not sure I want to bother with the RMA process, I might just take it on the parking lot and give it the “Office Space treatment”.

    Works fine
Works well enough. Audio is nice and clear depending on codec. Speakerphone works quite well. The display was minimal but gave all the info you could really want. It can be hard to read depending on what angle it is at. Also not back lit. Having it show the weather is nice.I was very confused about which model supports POE and which comes with a power supply. I got the 1405 and it came with a power supply and supposedly supports POE also. The info on Amazon’s site wasn’t very helpful in figuring out which was which.

Can’t beat it for the Price 🙂
Uses these every day, they work great. A little slow on boot up, but audio quality is very good. Make sure you use the GXP1405 if you want PoE (I made that mistake once ordered the 1400). I have them working with TLS to encrypt the sip traffic with minimal difficulty. Also I use the “Plantronics Headset for S10, T10 and T20” wired headset:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006B7T7/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Difficult to connect to Vonage
Difficult to connect to the VoIP system. I use a Vonage modem and a FIOS Internet router. With the convention phone, All I have to do is to connect L1 from the phone to the split Vonage phone jack in the wall. With Grandstream, There are two ports on the device: one for PC and one for LAN. I connected to the LAN port on the FIOS Internet router and left the PC port open because Vonage router is already connected to the PC. The network is connected but no phone connection. The quick start guide talks about phone configuration using web browser or keypad. It talks about web browser IP address, which I understand, SIP Proxy, Outbound Proxy… very technical. I simply could not figure that out.Update: I spent a lengthy time with Vonage support for configuration but to no avail. I am returning this for refunt. Don’t buy this unless you are highly technical with handling telecommunication equipment. Grandstream technical support is only perfunctory in nature and tells me to go to reseller (amazon.com in this case) for support.

Good phones, but no voicemail button on a business phone?
This a great low-cost Grandstream VOIP phone with power over ethernet. My issue with it is the buttons that were included and those that were left out- there is no voicemail button but there is a conference button. Conference is not a commonly used feature, but EVERYONE uses voicemail. Just a bizarre omission. I could reprogram one of the multifunction buttons to be voicemail, but then you lose the line 2 function, so I ended up creating brother labels with the voicemail code, which works but shouldn’t really be necessary. A dedicated voicemail button should be part of every business phone.I would also advise anyone looking at these to spend a few bucks more to get the 1405, which is a POE phone.

I bought this to use as an internal (LAN connected) phone set for my SMB Fortivoice phone switch. Fortivoice supports Grandstream phones but this model isn’t listed. However, it could be configured and provisioned by following the Fortivoice instructions. It works well in that role and it’s a lot less expensive than the listed/supported models. I plan to buy a second one to test as a remote extension (SIP)By the way – I really don’t like Amazon requiring text input for a product review. In this case I have something to say but in other cases I’d like to do a rating without the text comments. I’ve stopped rating items when I don’t have something useful to say.
