A large tilt display and extra large buttons make viewing and dialing easier, while Audio Assist and a 10-number speed dial further enhance usability. Terrific for the money!
Update: 5/15/20 – After using this phone for a year, I have raised my overall rating to 5 stars!! This is not a fancy phone, but it gets the job done well at a very low cost. Mount it correctly and you will have a great phone with lots of features, a display that you can easily read from 6 feet away, and sound quality that is excellent. All I really needed was a caller ID display on a phone in my shop. We get about 8 or 10 robo calls a day, and I just wanted to be able to screen calls without running to another room to see a caller ID. This phone is great for that. The display is clear and the quality of the audio is pretty good. I would have given the phone 5 stars, but the quality of the audio on the speaker phone is not good. Yes, you can tell what someone is saying, but the speakerphone audio quality is poor. If the quality was better, this would have been a 5-star review, but then this would likely have been a $60 to $100 phone. This phone was what I needed.Update 3/3/19: I forgot to mention that the phone mounts very well on a wall. It has the standard two pin spacing slots on the rear for a wall plate. If you look at the side view photos submitted by people that say the phone does not wall mount, you can see that they are using only one of the two available mounting slots. If the instructions are followed, there is no problem using a wall mount.

Does what I need but has some quirks
This phone had everything I needed feature wise, which not all phones sold up here do.What I needed was:- caller ID- speakerphone- ability to mount on a wall- no AC/DC power required- detachable cord from handset to phone so I could replace it with a longer one- ability to adjust ringer volume including being able to completely turn the ringer offExtra comments:———————Some people have complained in reviews that the speaker phone doesn’t work or is too quiet to hear. Mine works fine but I put brand new batteries in it. Maybe that was there problem (or AT&T jsut has bad quality control on these and some are defective).I can’t recall if I read this in reviews of this phone or some others I looked at up here, but I can switch back & forth to & from the speakerphone and the handset if I need to without cutting off the call. To my surprise this was a complaint I read about happening (which would be terrible design). Again I don’t remember if that was written for this phone or one of the other models, I read tons of reviews b4 I settled on buying this one.The wallmount works fine. Is totally stable on my wall, attached perfectly to the 2 standard screws already part of my wall jack, using the wall mount attachment which was in the box. You do then need to take out, reverse, then reinsert the tiny handset cradle piece thing that is attached to the base unit so that it mates properly with the phone hanging vertically. My old phone had the same thing so I knew to do that. Otherwise the handset will just fall to the floor after hanging it up.The complaints about the display (or the phone itself) not being backlit are true but none of my other phones do that so I am used to it. Being able to tilt the display to multiple angles helped me to find the best way to position the screen so that glare/reflection from lights don’t affect my ability to see the display. The phone does have a thing that lights up when it rings that I find handy for when I have the ringer volume completely off though.A couple weird quirks:—————————I had to turn the volume down using the arrows on the base unit, because by default it was causing annoying buzzing and reverb when I spoke, only audible on my end. This has worthless settings for “HOME AREA CODE” and multiple ones for “LOCAL AREA CODE”. I am not even sure what those are for but I made the mistake of putting in my area code in for the HOME and one of the LOCAL #s, which resulted in screwing things up as far as being able to call someone back in the call log. If someone called me from within my area code the phone then drops the area code from the return call which means it will NOT go through. Used to be about 20 years ago in this metropolitan area there were was only one area code but now there are many and you HAVE to include that as part of whatever # you dial, even if calling from within the same area code. So I had to delete what I entered for both of those but cannot figure out HOW to do that! Instead I had to enter a fake area code (000) for both. So what happens now is that for EVERY call I make using the function to return a call from the call log it adds a “1” for long distance to the number – even for those which do not require using the long distance/1 function. This would have been a big PITA a few years ago when doing so even for local calls would have been charged as a higher long distance rate, but thankfully now since my service is VOIP rather than analog all calls are charged the same. Still it is an annoyance, and I guess it is something leftover from technology dating back like 20 years (or maybe there are still places in the US which do not require adding an area code when calling locally, so this would be useful in those cases?).I’ve only had the phone about 2 months so can’t comment on how long it lasts. Fingers crossed will be at least 10 years. My previous phone lasted almost 30 years and it cost only about $9 with the same features (and no quirks), but it started going crazy (changing to pulse dial instead of touchtone, display blanking out, stuff like that, despite multiple battery changes).

Makes and Receives Calls Without Problems … However …
I hesitated to buy this phone because it requires 4 AA alkaline batteries to operate the display. On page 4 of the Abridged User’s Manual it says: “CAUTION: Always unplug the telephone line cord before installing new batteries!” Information on how to reset the phone is offered on page 16, where it says to disconnect the line cord and then remove the batteries. After waiting a few minutes, it says to connect the telephone line cord to the telephone line base. Then it says to “place the batteries back.” This battery installation procedure on page 16 is the exact opposite of the procedure on page 4. It’s probably best to follow the instructions on page 4 to avoid damaging the phone and/or batteries. The instructions for programming and using the speed dial and directory dialing features are complicated and time consuming. The phone has handset, speaker and ringer volume controls which function well. Operation of the 12 dialing buttons requires too much pressure, but I’m getting used to this. The battery operated tilt-up display is easy to read in a lighted room, however, it has no backlight. When not showing caller ID information, this display continually shows that it is model number CL2940 in bold type at the top of the screen. I’m waiting to see how long the batteries last because the display remains on all the time. It is unclear if the phone loses all programed information when the batteries are replaced. The information on page 16 indicates that the phone is reset when the batteries and telephone line cord are removed. Only time will tell and I will update this review when the batteries need to be replaced.

This is an excellent land-line phone. I’ve been using the same model as a desk phone for over a year, and just purchased another to have as our kitchen wall phone. Both are working perfectly. This model is easy to use and doesn’t need to be plugged into an electrical plug since it’s battery powered. While the display is not backlit, the screen contrast is adjustable making it relatively easy to read in glare-free normal lighting.

This seemed exactly the product I had been looking for: corded, big caller display and attractive. The first thing I discovered was that the caller display was so pale that I had difficulty reading it, even with glasses on. I was so frustrated that I phoned the US but the more they explained, the more I realised that the UK system was the difference. The next thing I noticed was that my callers needed to put me on speaking phone to hear me. And finally one day there was a loud buzzing noise and it packed up altogether. Very disappointed. Hopeless in the UK.
