Amazing for the price.
My Gamecon 780 was dying after serving me faithfully for seven years. The earpads were dirty, the headband cracked, and the mic mute switch was starting to affect the mic’s ability to work at all. I removed and laundered the ear cups, but the rest was just too much. It was time to retire it. During the Gamecom’s functional lifetime, I thought it was the beez kneez. That is, until I actually heard the sound of the speakers on the Zeus…LikesThe sound: Wow. Even at a flat zero-boost/cut EQ setting across the board, I could tell right away that the Zeus had some potential. Once EQ’d, the bass that several reviews said was missing? It jumped right out exactly where it should be. My retired Gamecom couldn’t come close to the sound quality of the Zeus.Comfort: My former headset ear pads were made out of felt. Gross and scratchy dirt collecting monsters of yuck. These? Whatever the pads are made of, super comfy. These feel like real quality.Construction: The flexible metal framework adds a lot to the quality of this headset and I do not anticipate anything similar to what happened to my plastic-framed Gamecom. The other thing I really like about the construction is the fact that there are no moving parts or buttons on the ear cups related to settings whatsoever. That is how a quality headset should be. I used to accidentally turn off surround sound, adjust volume, etc… just putting my former headset on. This headset? I just put it on and no accidental changes are made, because there is nothing to interact with where I grab them. Thank you , RD, for getting that part right. I have no idea why companies like putting sound control, mute switches, etc, on the ear cups. I always thought that was stupid. Finally, I appreciate the heck out of the fact that the microphone does not swing upward and downward on a vertical swivel. The swivel type of connection started to wear out on my other headset, causing the mic to stop working until I toggled the mute switch, swiveled the boom, etc.The Microphone: So far, it responds well to input and doesn’t sound dirty. No one complimented me on it, but they didn’t complain about it either. When I asked them directly, the folks in Discord said “It sounds fine.” In my experience with this group, they don’t care about the sound of your voice, as long as it’s not obnoxious and full of distortion, so telling me “It sounds fine” is a good sign. I have made a few test recordings and agree. I haven’t EQ’d it yet, but expect that EQ will make the mic sound really nice. The Software: I was actually surprised that the software came with a built-in EQ. It’s not parametric, but my other headset didn’t give me an EQ at all! There are Surround-sound features, environment effects, and some goofy voice effects that come built in to the software. Pretty cool. The Price: Its awesome. I hate spending money.DislikesSoftware installation is confusing at first. When you extract the installation folder from the zip file, it shows up with funny characters in the file name. I have no idea why the main folder name would have special characters in it when the rest of files inside seem okay. Nonetheless, the program will not install until you rename the extracted folder. It doesn’t matter what you call it, just make sure there are no special characters in the name. This was only a minor annoyance and my system has detected nothing malicious. Its loud out of the box. Come to think of it. I have to make adjustments every time I get a new set of headphones, so this is to be expected. In my Windows sound mixer, at an overall headphone volume of 50%, I have to turn my web browser volume down to 5% to make websites with volume control manageable. Otherwise, YouTube, Soundcloud, and Pandora would blast my eardrums out. Just be aware that you will likely have to adjust your sound mixer to get things where they should be, but it is not difficult. I actually got everything working pretty well. Once you have everything set up, your inline volume control will only increase and decrease the volume by 2% per button press, so post-configuration, you won’t have to worry about the headset volume control destroying your ears.ConclusionThe attention to detail on the zeus is incredible. From sound to comfort, and solid construction, it makes expensive headsets appear like Fisher Price toys. Redragon nailed it. You want this headset.

Conflicted. Edit: NEVERMIND Edit PT.2: buying again
I have been eye-balling these cuties for the longest! Finally caved and bought them when my x box ones started messing up. Wanted to test these out for a bit and while I do love them the mic seems to have a small issue??? Not sure it it’s my fault or if they were just messed up from the beginning. I never really move my mic so I didn’t notice this until one of my buddies pointed out the static. Wish I would have known before I threw out the box.Edit: I was contacted by someone from the company and they were so kind and helpful! They helped me troubleshoot the product and since we couldn’t find a solution they sent me a replacement. I’ve had the replacement for a few days now and everything is working great!! My main conflict was the fact that the headset sounded sooooo good but the mic was problematic, now that the mic issue is resolved, I am completely in love. They are SO cute, so comfortable, the audio quality is excellent, and the mic is loud and clear! So happy with my purchase!Edit PT 2: Over a year later with HEAVY use, my babies finally called it quits… Kinda. They still sound AMAZING and are in GREAT shape, my mic just cuts out every now and then and I sound distant apparently. It may be my controller tbh but going to hold off on buying a new one for now. As for this head set, they are so incredibly comfortable and have such great quality and have lasted me wayyy longer than any other headset I’ve owned previously. I’m not going to lie, I’ve fallen asleep with these on more than a few times and they still are working so well it’s insane. The more I think about it, the more I think my controller is the problem since I use these on my phone and don’t get any complaints about the mic quality. Either way I’m ordering a new pair soon just to have them once my back up pair gives out. I miss the comfort of gaming with these and the sound quality too much! It’s me again: years later- I’ve converted my life long gamer friend into a red dragon headset lover. He bought the red and black ones and says the quality is amazing and they’re the most comfortable fit he’s ever had since they’re so lightweight. I’ve since bought a second pair to have for my desk top and the others stay with my x box. Downloaded the software for my desk top and it is so easy and simple to use and everything sounds great with the USB wire (which is so much longer than the audio jack cable! Extra range is a big plus!)
