This is the sound I have been looking for
Have you ever had a co-worker sitting beside you who has the habit of whispering while working? This started my search for something discreet enough to somehow block that annoying sound, and so my interest in budget-friendly TWS began. My first TWS was the Tranya T3, I liked it a lot if not for the huge size of the earbuds as they stick out of my ears too much and the sound it makes when I press a control button. After that, I had Haylou GT1 Plus, Edifier X3, Bomaker Sifi 2, Tranya T10 and Soundpeats Truefree+. These purchases were influenced by the countless reviews watched and read online. When I ordered my Bomaker Sifi 2 (which I thought was “the one”), it was the same time that the Soundpeats Truefree 2 was released. I decided to buy it as a gift for my sister who was then diagnosed with diabetes and the doctor had ordered her to lose weight through diet and exercise. I thought then that a TWS would make her enjoy gym time more. But never did I expect that the TWS I decided to give away is the one that I would like the most. So there, I ordered another Truefree 2 for myself hence this review. Inside the box of the Truefree 2 are the following: the charging case with the earbuds inside, manual, some info cards, type C charging cable, extra eartips and earfins. The charging case and the earbuds came pre-charged, which I appreciate.Look, Build and Fit:The charging case is slightly smaller than that of the Truefree+ but it looks and feels more premium. There is no rattling of any sort. At the back of it is the USB type C, which is a plus at this day and age, and inside are 4 white LED lights as battery indicator. The Truefree+ does not have this.Looking at the earbuds, they are slightly bigger than the Truefree+. They feel solid and there are no rough edges. Taking the buds out of the charging case is easy enough unlike the Bomaker Sifi 2 which is really a pain. The Truefree 2 earbuds feel comfortable in the ears but after some time of having them on, I felt a bit of ear fatigue so I had to change the earfins to the smallest ones. The earfins secure the buds in the ears no matter how vigorous your shake test may be.Sound Quality and Volume:It is the sound quality and volume of the Truefree 2 that made me like it the most. I’m no audiophile so I cannot discuss lows, mids, highs, sound separation and stuff like that but I can say it has the most engaging sound. It is louder than the Truefree+. Bass is strong but not overpowering and the vocals are the clearest among all TWS I have. No wonder my sister has been shedding pounds. I can see why she’s been enjoying gym time more. Once you have this on, you cannot help but move with the music. You just wouldn’t want to take them off. When I’m at work, I only use one bud and it is not fully inserted as the type of work I do requires me to be always aware of my surroundings — and even then, the sound is still amazing.Touch Controls:Let me tell you that at this price point, only a few gives you the ability to control everything on the earbuds themselves. Truefree 2 is one of them fortunately. My only complaint would be the button controls as it is quite an effort to press them. However, that is completely negligible for me as I rarely have the need to skip tracks and change volumes during the course of my listening sessions.Battery:Charging is fast enough. It took just around an hour to complete with the USB-C cable. The battery on the earbuds themselves are acceptable. I’m not quite sure if anyone uses this for more than 3 hours a time. My phone uses type C as well and I already have this cable at home, in my office drawer, in the car and in my bag so this model not having the wireless charging feature is not an issue for me at all.Connectivity and Call Quality:Pairing the Truefree 2 to my Samsung Galaxy S10+ was easy. It shows as “Truefree 2” and not as separate R and L like the others.Switching from stereo to mono, left to right and vice versa is so seamless I’m impressed. No cutting off has been experienced as long as it is within the indicated working range.Call quality is fine, the person on the other end says she can hear me clearly. This is despite having an electric fan on my face. She says she cannot detect any wind hiss at all. Unfortunately, I was not able to test the call quality outdoors. Conclusion:Here’s how I would rank the TWS I have: (1) Soundpeats Truefree2; (2) Soundpeats Truefree+; (3) Haylou GT1 Plus; (4) Bomaker Sifi 2; and (5) Tranya T3.I have found the sound that I really like in Truefree 2 that at this point, I can actually stop being on the lookout for new TWS. However, Soundpeats keep releasing great-looking stuff that I’m not sure how long I can stop myself. I only wish that Soundpeats release a smaller sized model that makes me able to lie on my side in bed. For me, they have already hit the spot with the sound.

An excellent choice for an active lifestyle!
The Soundpeats TrueFree2 are excellent wireless ear buds for working out and being active. They sound great, fit securely and comfortable. They are also small and lightweight, so easy to take with you. I spent a lot of time comparing the TrueFree2 with the TrueShift2, which are similar in price and also have the wingtips to give the secure fit for exercise and being active. It seemed like a natural pair to compare.Looking at the two cases the TrueShift2 obviously have the much larger case. They also provide better battery life with the ear buds getting an extra hour and the case providing 100 hours compared to the 20 hours for the TrueFree2. So, for battery life the TrueShift2 have more, but the TrueFree2 certainly have enough for most people, especially for a workout session. One photo I added shows they still had 30% after an hour of weigh lifting and then 30 minutes of a walk, plus time in between and after, so they covered a typical workout time easily for me and I would guess for the vast majority of people. The smaller case means it is easier to pocket the TrueFree2 so if that is important to you then the TrueFree2 win on that. The earbuds themselves are also smaller than the TrueShift2, so if you like smaller earbuds, that is a plus. Both fit very comfortably and securely and I had no issues with them through my workouts.I really do not make many calls so I do not spend any time on the mics and call quality and so forth, but I would assume they both work fine for occasional use. Both are also IPX7 so both can deal with water equally as well. I would not risk doing things like swimming or showering with them, but would not be worried if they accidentally got knocked into the sink, so that provides nice security that they will continue working even if caught in a rainstorm. The TrueShift2 have touch controls and the TrueFree2 have button controls. Both work well and do everything, so it comes down to personal preference of which one might prefer. The button controls here work easily and do not require excessive force to press down on and for me did not hurt my ear pressing the button. Sometimes touch controls can be too sensitive so button controls do not have that issue, although sometimes pressing buttons pushes the earbuds into the ear, causing discomfort for some. As I mentioned, I found no discomfort and for the TrueShift2 I found them to not to be overly sensitive to touch, so both work equally well, just differently. When it comes to sound to me the TrueShift2 were more bass heavy than the TrueFree2. The TrueFree2 have plenty of bass, I just found that they were more balanced with the highs pushed up equally. The TrueShift2 also to me the vocals were a little bit less pronounced than on the TrueFree2, so if hearing more of the mids are important then the TrueFree2 cover that a little better than the TrueShift2. TrueShift has slightly more bass and the TrueFree2 more equally boosted sound. With both instrument separation is excellent and it is easy to tell one instrument from another. Because of the better highs things like acoustic guitar sounded awesome on the TrueFree2, so it was very impressive how well they did with many different styles of music. One last thing to note. With the TrueShift2 I noticed that I had to be a little careful putting them in the case, that they did not always seem to connect to the charging pins well and would remain connected to the device. I also noticed that the wingtips could get in the way of the charging pins on the earbuds if not careful putting them on. With the TrueFree2 the design of the wingtips and the way they fit in the case seems better and thus I have not seen that issue of them remaining connected after putting them in the case, so that is a positive for the TrueFree2.Overall for the price, these earbuds bring a lot to the table. They have great sound, fit securely and comfortably and are an excellent choice for exercise and working out. I highly recommend them.

I’m a bit picky when it comes to headphones – they need to be comfortable, produce good sound and not cost an arm and a leg. Sound quality is very important, with a very broad range of musical styles, so with everything from detailed highs to deep low notes (and thumps) needing to be coveredI’d all but given up on in-ear units being able to keep up with a reasonable set of cans, when a friend pointed me at these. Now, I don’t bother with any other headphones! They produce surprisingly good quality sound, comfortable enough to wear for hours without noticing them (or them falling out) and an impressive amount of (passive) sound-exclusion too. Sure, they’re not noise-cancelling, but they’re good enough for me to use while cutting the grass and still enjoy what I’m listening toMy only gripe is that the buttons require quite a lot of pressure to trigger them – it’s fine for play/pause, but adjusting the volume or switching tracks means quite a solid shove. Not enough to hurt, but you definitely know when the “click” happens! That aside, these are incredible value for money and any picky music-listeners on a budget would do well to purchase a set
