Love This Laptop – But Not Perfect for Everyone
I don’t have too much to say about it. It runs about as well as my PC at home, if not better.I’ve used it to play AAA titles and MMOs in the late evening while on trips out of town, to do work for college, coding & my job. It’s a great laptop.A few things to consider. While the numpad that’s build into the touchpad is neat at first… it’s just a nuisance when your catch your hand on it while gaming & then you’re hitting random buttons on accident. Also, the resolution isn’t 16:9, it is 16:10. You’re going to have issues getting the full screen to be filled for some games & you’re going to lose 1-2 inches of screen to black-bars in games such as Elden Ring. However, I feel like the 16:10 resolution provides for a more compact laptop shape. I have a 16:9 laptop & it feels so lopsided to use or carry around. This one feels great. Plus you have more vertical space for say, writing a program in VSCode or the like. So it’s a bit of a give & take there.PSA – I’m told ASUS customer service is horrible these days. If you have any issues with your laptop, please be warned you might be best off seeking other routes for repairs. Even if you are in warranty. There’s plenty of videos on Youtube about it. Gamers Nexus is the one that alerted me to the potential issue.

Great gaming laptop!
The specs are great, itâs more than most gamers will ever need! Fast, responsive, the graphics & QHD screen resolution are beautiful. Built in speaker sound is just ok, you can make adjustments to improve quality or simply connect to a bluetooth speaker to level up your audio expedience. The fans do a good job keeping it cool but it does get very warm when running high performance, not bad though. Personally I spent way too much time researching for the best of the best gaming laptops in this price category and I can confidently say that Iâm really happy with my purchase & selection! Honestly iâd give this ROG Strix an 8 out of 10!

Love it
Runs hot regardless of what you’re doing on it so I added an underneath fan stand but other than that, does whatever it needs too. Functions great. Weight is just light enough for an on board graphics card, battery life is adjustable to what you want it to be set to but I haven’t had issues. A little on the high side price wise but you get what you pay for. Definitely not a 3k dollar iCrap even has easily accessible virtual machine if you like to run stuff outside your o.s. set up was as easy as it gets for tech these days.

Cannot use HDR even with Nebula OLED Screen unless using specific app from Microsoft Store
I almost never write reviews becuase normally the products work as described. This laptop was an aboslute nightmare, I spent probably 25 hours over 3 days trying to figure out how to enable HDR for the Nebula OLED screen and RTX 4070 I spent a lot of money for.You CANNOT enable HDR in Windows 11 – the slider is greyed out. No matter what changes you make in NVidia Control panel, the ASUS software, the MUX switch or anything else, you cannot enable HDR or Dolby Vision. The only possible way is to use a specific “app” in the MS Store, and even then it does not truly work. Supposedly in some games you can select HDR but if Windows itself is stuck in 8-Bit sRBG mode, the game does not override it. I tried using the expanded color palettes (DCI-P) and two other wide gamut settings in the ASUS program, but none would allow you to turn on HDR.It feels like this entire laptop is just a scam, or maybe ASUS plans to update it in the future, but sorry I’m not paying $2000 for a laptop that *might* someday do what it claims to do now. I tired a dozen different videos from HDR, HDR10, HDR10+ or Dolby Vision and not a single one sent the HDR palette from the laptop to my LG CX OLED TV, which will tell you when it recognized and switches to a larger gamut setting. There’s a worthless Dolby Vision application pre-installed and of course it will not do anything helpful.IIRC the only way to get DV to work is if you’re streaming video from a MS Store approved app (Netflix). Any locally stored videos are stuck running SDR.I’ve been building my computers since the mid 90’s so I know what I’m doing – which was returning this within 3 days (after spending close to 20 hours researching and reading forums). It simply does not make sense to sell an HDR/DoVi capable screen and video card, but then completely disable the HDR setting in W11. I really

Solid gaming laptop with a few quirks
Good: Plays everything I have with great performance.Good: Great specs. Does everything I need it to do and will ever do.Good: The screen quality is great.Meh: Not a fan of all the bloatware that comes with this rig.Meh: Had a couple issues at first where the function keys just stopped working. Driver and BIOS updates seemed to fix that.Meh: Battery life is abysmal but Optimus helps with that. Also wasnât expecting this thing to last 8 hours given its primary function and hardware.Meh: I canât figure out how to properly wake up the laptop from sleep mode. Sometimes clicking the mouse works, sometimes pressing a key does the trick, and other times I have to press the power button to awaken it.Unsure: I hear frequent scratchy sounds from the board that almost sound like an old school hard drive on its way to total failure. Google suggests this might be coil whine, but Iâm not really sure.

Its everything you expect for top tier laptop. It’s heavy and the charger is also heavy. So if you trave lots get the thinner ROG with a 4090.

Everything is amazing in the laptop, It run all games well and work good and look good as well BUT it keep overheating no matter what I do! I even got a thermal pad but it doesnt help it and even undervolting it doesnt really give me a lot differance other then games start to stutter! would be a 5/5 if not the overheating issue which I know how to fix…. BUT Repasting it will VOID WARRANTY! so I will not do it and suffer.
