Best mouse pad I’ve ever had
I have a small, crowded desk with not enough room for a full mouse pad. I have a cheap wireless mouse that I probably got for $8 a while back and it doesn’t track very well on the shiny black surface of the desk (my Microsoft wireless mouse works fine, but I have to switch between 2 computers so I use both). This pad solves several problems: it is very thin, so does not interfere with the keyboard and other items which I can overlap on top of the pad, it doesn’t move around but sticks firmly to the desk, and it tracks both mice perfectly. What a great idea! I could have used one of these 20 years ago. It’s easy to keep clean, and it can be removed easily because the adhesive is similar to Post-It, though a bit stickier. Highly recommended when you want to provide a few inches of good trackable surface for your mouse in a space limited area. Even if you have plenty of space, though, it’s worthwhile. The only drawback is, obviously, it’s stuck to the desk and takes a bit of effort to move out of the way if for some reason you need an empty desktop. But if that’s not a concern, go for it.The claim that it saves batteries is difficult to verify. My Microsoft mouse lasts for months with daily use, and my cheapie mouse doesn’t get heavy use, so I leave it off most of the time. I haven’t noticed a significant difference so far.

    UPDATE: Extraordinary product… best ever!
UPDATE after 10 months: I usually update to give bad news, but this is a different story. This little pad is still just as good, just as attractive, just as functional as the day I bought it. It’s super easy to wipe clean, no dead spots anywhere. Since it’s on a slide out keyboard shelf, it’s stuck at the lower right corner and has not moved since the first day I got it. Not even rotated. There are no frayed edges where the heel of my hand rubs constantly… What more could I possibly ask? I use it AT LEAST 10 hours every single day, no days off.Original Review:I haven’t used mouse pads since I got rid of my last ball-mouse 10 years or so ago, but I made a pull-out keyboard shelf for my desk, just to give me more legroom under the desk, and made the shelf out of white rough-surfaced shelving from Lowes. The mouse was NOT happy with that surface causing skipping and difficulty doing fine movements. I bought this pad simply because I want it to stay in place AND the fact that it is very thin rather than a big piece of plastic or a thick pad. It excels amazingly for this function and causes me no discomfort at all, plus the mouse is functioning the best it ever has. I’m very pleased with it, and it wipes clean easily. Remains to be seen how it holds up to the wear of the mouse constantly moving over it (the surface of my desk where the mouse used to move is like polished glass compared to the rest of the desktop, so I know there is a good test for the pad for the next year or so.Nothing has peeled up around the edges and the stickum is holding… I placed it where I wanted it and have not tried to move it.

    So far, so good
There always seems to be a dozen mouse pads floating around the house when you don’t need one. For some reason I found myself without a mouse pad after working off of a laptop for a couple of years or more. I upgraded to a new iMac with the magic mouse, and I didn’t like the idea of running the mouse on the surface of my desk. The mouse worked fine, but over time it would wear a patch in the finish of the wood desk — not a good idea.I have no idea if 3M’s claim of extended battery life for the mouse are valid. It makes a certain amount of sense to me that a mouse pad which promotes good signal transmission would help to extend battery life. We’ll see in the coming months. Right now, the mouse is still showing 100% battery charge on its first battery. This seems like a good sign. I have not seen any signs of rapid battery wear that one reviewer indicated.I like the sticky backing on the mouse pad. It’s the same 3M soft stick glue that the company uses on its yellow sticky pads. I’ve got the mouse pad affixed to the corner of the desk, and it’s nice to have a solid surface that doesn’t move around while you use the mouse. The pad has a slightly grooved surface which provides good tactile feedback as you roll the mouse over the pad. I had expected a slightly mirrored finish based on the product photo, but it’s more of a matte appearance with graduated gray-to-white shading. It’s attractive enough. The pointer scrolls across the screen with smooth precision. There are no jitters.Given the discount that Amazon had, I’m happy with the purchase. I probably wouldn’t pay much more than about five dollars. After all, it’s just a mouse pad.
