Very useful gadget for converting stereo audio at line level to USB input on MacBook Pro
This Andrea Communications Model USB-MA external digital audio PC microphone adapter proved to be the perfect solution for inputting stereo audio to my MacBook Pro (Retina) via a USB port. Since no MacBook Pros since 2012 have a stereo audio input capability, I was at a loss as to how to input stereo audio (at line level). So I decided to try this gadget, even though itâs designed for microphone levels. Turns out it handles line levels very nicely as well. (Just turn the gain down!)

then this is a great 100% guaranteed stereo line-in replacement if you do TV …
This has been tested on a Windows 7 laptop and works well. As most new laptops don’t come with separate stereo line-in functionality unless you buy Alienware (the mic port also works as a stereo line-in), certain MSI 4-port audio laptops, or specialist Celvo chassis laptops from PC Specialist (UK), or Eurocom (Canada), or HIDevoltuion, OriginPC, then this is a great 100% guaranteed stereo line-in replacement if you do TV or music editing.

Excellent
I use this in conjunction with an Audio Technica PRO 8HEmW boom microphone for speech recognition with the latest version of Dragon voice recognition software on my MacBook Pro retina. All I can say that the three products working together are an absolute dream and my productivity in terms of generating letters and reports has increased several times.

Disappointingly flimsy
Working with the Sennheiser ME3 microphone, this gave me a great quality audio at first, but 2 months in started adding horrible static/crackling noises, rendering it useless. This was already my third time purchasing the Pure Audio because the exact same problem happened with my first two. It’s a fabulous product when it works, but I can’t keep buying a new one every 2-4 months. I just got the Buddy 7G, and while I don’t like it quite as much, but hopefully it will last longer.

Works as stated
I’m a voice writing student and this works exactly as described. I’ve tried it in different ports and had no problem. I use it with Dragon and Eclipse.

DEFECTIVE Andrea USB
This Andrea USB NEVER worked from day one. Every time I plugged it into my 2 laptops and my desktop, I would get the same message: “USB Device Not Recognized.” And there’s nothing you can do to fix it. Now it’s been over 30 days and The Factory Depot Advantages says it is too late to return and I am stuck with a product that was defective. They should not be allowed to sell defective equipment.

Perfect solution to quirky Dragon NaturallySpeaking
Allowed me to use Dragon NaturallySpeaking the way it was meant to be used, even when my PC’s native microphone input didn’t!
