Wow, what a difference from the competition…
I had been using a random Chinese brand for a while that I got on Amazon (8 hubs, claimed 200+ watts). It worked, but I started noticing that when I had a lot of devices plugged in at once, it got hot. Hot enough to make me nervous and replace it the next day. Since there was a Black Friday sale on this device, I decided to spring for the Anker Prime series for the first time. When it arrived, my reaction was WOW:1) Yes it only has 6 hubs rather than the 8 I had before, but they actually charge fast (at their stated specs) rather than making claims that didn’t seem to hold true.2) Build quality was off-the-charts high! This thing was HEAVY, and I mean this as a compliment. The previous one I had felt like a toy by comparison. The finish was beautiful, everything felt premium, and I was immediately thrilled.3) I have had zero temperature issues. It supposedly self-monitors temperature like 6 million times a day, so I have no concerns there. I’ve never felt it get anything remotely hot (*maybe* slightly warm, but any chargers get warm when charging many devices). I regularly have this charging 2 tablets and 4 portable chargers.I bought all new cables by Anker just to be safe and have everything look uniform. It’s a wonderful setup and helped my organize my electronic chaos in my house! I love this thing.

Loving this charging station so far. The charger itself is surprisingly hefty and feels very well built. There are four small rubber feet on the bottom that also help it stay put. (That said, it’s not quite heavy enough that it won’t slide if you try to plug/unplug cables without holding it, but it won’t be sliding around on your desk from the shifting around of cables)I was pleasantly surprised to find that the charger itself has no LED indicators, as I already have enough glowing devices on my desk. The power cord is removable for convenience.

This charger is amazing, it can charge a laptop up to 100w and still have plenty of power to spare for the other ports.It works with the Steam Deck at full power when playing games (the Steam Deck requires 45w and Power Delivery).4 USB-C ports is plenty and 2 USB-A cover those old devices that haven’t swapped to USB-C yet.It is expensive but was worth.
