Success probably depends on your iPhone case
I got the iPhone 12 Pro & my other magnetic car mounts just wouldn’t hold it because it’s made from stainless steel & is heavier. Apple sells this model so I checked it out on Amazon because I knew it wouldn’t be a hassle to return it if I wasn’t happy with it. The reviews were pretty divided on whether it worked well or not. When I received it, at first it didn’t grab my IPhone case (I have the iPhone 12 Pro silicone case from Apple) but then I realized I had the mount upside down. When the mount is correctly positioned and about 2/3 of the way down on the case, it grabbed really well! I like that the part that slides over the vents fits snugly and can be turned either vertically or horizontally depending on the direction the vents are running in your particular vehicle & I could still keep my iPhone vertical. When I turned a corner, the vents slid to the right or left sometimes with that heavy iPhone on it, but that’s a vehicle issue, not the mount’s fault and the iPhone didn’t slide off at all. Very happy with my purchase!

Solid magsafe holder
Make sure your phone case is rated for magsafe. I tried multiple car holders and this is the only one that stuck. Itâs never fallen off. The phone, however, falls off occasionally if my car goes over big humps in the road, so I took off a star for that. Itâs rare and stays on 90% of the time. I like the swivel function, easy to mount portrait or landscape. The clips slide in easy and stay firmly attached. They remove easily. Clean look when phone is detached.

Stays put well!
It snugs my register vent well and stays securely put. It holds my i phone great with the magnetic hold. I have a 2020 suv and the register vents are a thick strong plastic. Maybe in vehicles that are older, have flimsy plastic register vents that wonât be able to hold the weight of a cell phone and it wellâ¦. I donât know⦠but it works fabulous for both of our vehicles a (2023 van) too. Iâve had it for a month now and no complaints.

Simple, fairly effective, overpriced
Note that this thing is only a holder. It has no charging capabilities of its own, so for that you’d need to plug a cable directly into the phone itself. Belkin does offer other models with built-in MagSafe charging. I’m using this model to mount an iPhone 13 Mini on the passenger side of the center dashboard vents in a 2016 Volvo XC60. If I had a Belkin model with MagSafe charging, I’d still need a separate USB cable any time I wanted a wired data connection.The holder is simple to install, just push it all the way into a vent. You may need to fiddle a bit to make sure the weight of the phone does not pull the vent down from your desired viewing position. Make sure the holder is all the way in.The “integrated cable management” slot on the back is too narrow or stiff to easily accommodate my USB-to-lightning cable. My cable looks like the kind Apple provides with new iPhones (that is, the kind with a white rubbery jacket, not a soft braided jacket). A thinner cable, or one with a different kind of insulation jacket, should work fine.The plastic holder doesn’t seem sturdy enough to survive being dropped on a hard surface (not that I’ve tried). I suppose it’s sturdy enough for the intended purpose. So far, it has held the phone just fine for a couple drives. It easily swivels between portrait and landscape positions.Summing up: it’s a handy device. I’m glad to have it, although at the current full retail price ($39.99) IMO it is way overpriced for what it is.

Weak magnets
This is a great looking device, and it grips onto the air vent nicely. However, the strength of the magnets are not great. Much weaker than the Apple MafSafe charger, which alms very securely to my device. For the price point this was quite disappointing. The weak magnets make it challenging to find the exact position that will make it stay attached when driving, and even then the phone will occasionally fall off over larger bumps. I would say once every 2-3 drives it falls off for me.
