Great buy
Itâs always good to have one of these durable phones on hand or for a spare phone itâs undeniably a superior flip phone with touch screen access and still its original flip phone controls

Stuck in a loop updating, that never finishes.
I bought this phone as I really wanted on of these. Flip phone, android, touchscreen, rugged! Perfect! … Or so I thought.
Got the phone, turned it on, and it didn’t ask to set up. It was already loaded to the home screen… Then a request to update came up, and I tried to update, then it failed… then it wanted to update again… and it failed. And this just kept happening. So I “hid” all notifs about updating. But 3 days later the phone started crashing over and over, saying it needed to update. So… I wiped the phone, and started fresh again. Which it connected to the cell towers, and then promptly started asking for an update again. Tried to update… and it started looping about updates again. Reading the other reviews now (Which… I should have done first to be honest) this phone does the same thing to a LOT of other people too from this seller.
Talked to CAT Phones support, and they say this phone doesn’t come unlocked at all. As they strictly only sell from TMobile. And that I should definitely return this phone to the seller. Contacted Amazon. And they more or less straight away accepted the return. Shipped it via UPS, and just about 12 hours later, received an email stating that I was refunded.
BIG bummer… I wanted this phone. Silly thing is, the phone from Tmobile is only 80 dollars… So I am probably going to take that refund and put it towards getting the phone from Tmobile.
I was able to use the phone long enough to know for sure, that I do in fact like this thing. It was exactly what I wanted. Just a shame from this seller it seems to be borked. Also, the phone stated right on the box that I received, that it came with a 64GB SD card. No card was found inside. Other reviewers have stated this too.

Phone works perfectly
The phone works perfectly for what I wanted which is a basic flip phone with semi-smartphone features. I wanted to be able to use Google Maps and Play Spotify. This phone does that and more. *** I HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting at least a 128gb micro SD card for it, when the phone prompts you for programming select the 1st option for apps and media to download directly to the SD.*** This will be critical, I did the software update and as you can see from the picture I took of my screen somehow the system update is using 64gb of my memory card. Thatâs an insanely huge update, this phoneâs internal memory would never be able to support. Iâve only had it for 1 day, so far so good.

Good phone
I use this phone with my text now sim card and it is working just fine and I picked it up for around 50 bucks so it was definitely a solid purchase and I love the customization of this phone and the features it has as a flip phone honestly a pretty good unique android flip phone and I am happy with its durability.

Good for a dumbphone+ thing, but no android auto, and just not worth it if you use GPS in cities
If I was using it out in the country with big sparse streets that would be one thing, but between slow update time, terrible accuracy, and a screen way too tiny to be able to see where its getting confuzzled, it’s just not a tenable solution for my use case. I wish I could return it.
It is totally unlocked, but I wish I could remove the creepy T-Mobile branded stuff. You can’t uninstall any of it.

Common keypad issues.
I’m thankful I purchased this at a substantial markdown.
I like the flip phone form factor, and have been looking for a replacement for my Kyocera Dura XTP. Unfortunately this phone is very similar to the Nokia 6300 4G in that the feature you purchase the phone for may stop being reliable. Namely the keypad built into the phone. On the Nokia 6300 4G it’s the fault of KaiOS, on the CAT S22 – I’m not sure if it’s hardware or software, but you may run into the keypad inputting multiple characters. Even when you are being very precise and deliberate.
An absolutely unfortunate state of affairs. Perhaps if you purchase new you could exchange it, I purchased a refurbished model; but also checked online and found similar complaints with the device in Reddit posts.
Ignoring the keypad issues – I do appreciate that you can load Android APKs onto the device. I’m very bare bones, so I only need a music player, IRC client, podcast app, and web browser. Most of which you can install with a bit of research.
Definitely a buyer beware status on this device. Be sure to do research before pulling the trigger. I suspect these issues may be why this has quietly been removed from T-Mobile stores. I had really hoped this would be the long term replacement for my defunct Kyocera Dura XTP; but alas it is not.

Good phone but not for baseball.
I used it as a baseball and both screens broke. Poor quality honestly.
