Great PC – Poorly Packed – No WiFi Adapter
The PC arrived in 2 days as promised. It was packed in an inner box that was a few inches to big. It could slide around. And the outer box was way to big with no packing! In spite of that it came out undamaged. The boxeds themselves showed no signs of damage whatsoever as did the PC. Whew.
Upon booting up and attempting to install Windows I hit a snag. It didn’t see a WiFi adapter so it wanted me to use Ethernet. I don’t have an Ether connection in my office/music room because it would be impractical requireing breaking into the walls and repairing and repainting. So I installed a USB-3 T-link WiFi adapter and rebooted. The install then proceeded fine. Later I opened the unit and as far as I could tell the WiFi module is missing. I contacted Amazon and they gave info to contact the seller. They were more than helpful. I opened up the older Dell XPS unit I’m retireing and it had a M.2 WiFi adapter. I decided not pursue installing an M.2 adapter because of the 2 VERY delicate intennae in the XPS. The XPS has a plastic top where the new one was all metal. I’ll either install a faster USB adapter or a PCIe adapter if I need more speed.
The PC looks like new. The windows install went fine. I’m satisfied 100% with the PC. Packing not so much. It did include a DVD R/W that I didn’t expect. It compares with new units that cost twice as much.
It is plenty fast enough for what I do and runs windows 11 and should be OK with the 24H2 when it comes back out. The XPS was not compatible with Win 11. I’ll salvage the drives from the XPS and e-waste it.
3/13/24 EDIT:
I found the PC had a SSD with a known high failure rate. Basically a no-name brand. I replaced it with a Samsung SATA drive from my old PC. It still has ~ 98% of its life– some 88 years!
I also ordered a PCIe X1 TP-Link card which frees up one of my precious rear panel USB ports.
I’m happy with the performance but with these issues there might be better deals at Amazon or elsewhere.

Works like it was new.
This is my second refurbished Dell Optiplex and it has been a very good experience. The W11 setup worked perfectly and the unit is now in service as my main PC. There have not been any issues running a demanding set of software applications.

Not bad…
I have this thing about configured to my liking and all seems well and good so far. I moved up from a big Dell 9020 tower with an older chip and with a much smaller 128 GB SSD for a boot drive. It was fast on a boot but it was running out of gas and the 3TB internal drive made it confusing to keep my 600 GB of personal stuff off on another drive. I was also concerned about the physically very small size of this SFF 7070 because I didnât exactly know what goodies I could fit into it. There seems to be no sound system of any value built into it and the wireless keyboard and mouse are junk! â They should forget it and just lower the price. Short of that and after I added my own sound card, TV tuner and mouse + keyboard Iâm not complaining too much. Read over the specs good before you buy this one because there are a couple conflicting bits of information. â This works for me for now and Iâm really not too unhappy with it.

Fast turnaround and excellent support
My work Optiplex wouldn’t turn on Monday morning, and I was in dire need for replacement. I found a comparable PC with TekRefurbs and purchased. After initially purchasing the Dell Optiplex, I was offered a free upgrade to a Dell Precision. Within two business days my new computer arrived. I unboxed and quickly got my apps ready and was working within an hour. However, the line-out audio on both the front and back jacks were not working when I plugged in my external speakers. I would only hear a audio from an internal speaker coming from the CPU. I tried updating audio drivers and rebooting, but no audio was being sent to the speakers. I messaged with TekRefurbs and they offered a remote session and Bob was able to fix the problem. Very happy with the computer and the support.
