    More than just budget headphones.
It looks like Edifier has another hit with the V80. I’ve always liked their design language, and these headphones are no exception. They simply look sleek and stylish -not cheap at all. Although made almost completely of plastic, they still feel well-built. There is no creaking to be heard. The headband is quite flexible. I did notice the cloth on top of the band creases a bit when extending. I also appreciate that the headset is foldable so that I can fit it nicely in my bookbag. These headphones are very comfortable. The headband has nice padding and provides good head-clamping to keep them in place and the plush memory foam pads are super soft. My ears fit well into the cups. Being closed-back style, the pads do get a bit hot, which is something to keep in mind if you like to work out with headsets on.Featuring Bluetooth 5.4, this headset is future proof. It paired easily with all my devices with multipoint connectivity, which worked very well. I did not notice any real sync or lag issues. I did not notice any hiccups at decent distances. The headphones feature physical buttons and a rocker for control which are intuitive and responsive. I am happy that I can control everything from the headphones. The noise cancellation is not the best but is good enough to block most lower-level noise and some higher ones. Although I was still able to hear a lot of noise during my commute on the subway, it did not detract from the listening experience. The ambient mode works as intended, a bit artificial, but not harsh -great when needed. The call quality is very good. I carried on conversations in all kinds of environments -windy, crowded, tor heavy traffic, and I heard and was heard loud and clear. The battery is a huge benefit as I have been using these over the last few days for hours at a time and I still have over 50% power left -and that is at 60% volume with ANC on. Plus, the quick charge (15 minutes adds 8 hours) is of great benefit. The 40mm dynamic drivers deliver a versatile, warm sound signature that is enjoyable in most settings. While Edifier claims Hi-res, the headset only supports AAC and SBC codecs. Out of the box, I found the bass quite punchy with plenty of that subwoofer feel. With bass-intensive music, the bass can get a bit loose, and at higher volume, it can be overblowing. The midrange is well pushed forward, allowing vocals and rhythm instruments to show up. The treble is good and adds some needed clarity to the overall sound signature. When in wired mode via USB-C, the audio is much tighter and clearer. Of course, this depends on your source and the audio quality available.Just in case you don’t find the default audio to your liking, the Edifier companion app provides ample customization with presets and a full EQ. The app also provides a robust array of options such as button customization, volume, firmware updates, power-off timer, ambient sounds, and more. While the V80 is not perfect, taking into consideration the price point and the vast number of features, I’d say this is an undeniable value. I certainly recommend checking it out.

Great Noise Canceling Choices, Weak Microphone
I had always heard that Edifier is a solid company in acoustics, so I decided to get this pair of headphones when they became available. This headphone doesn’t come with a case or bag, but for $50, I guess that’s to be expected. It uses Bluetooth 5.4 to connect with two devices, and the pairing process with my cellphone and computer was straightforward. Switching music playback between my phone and computer is quick and seamless.Using the Edifier app can significantly enhance the experience with these headphones, providing more control. I noticed a feature in the noise cancellation settings called Wind Noise. Generally, I prefer to be aware of my surroundings when outside, so I never wear over-the-ear headphones during outdoor activities. But I decided to try them while walking in the neighborhood on a windy day. They did cancel out most of the wind noise, though it’s not as effective as the transparent mode for staying aware of my environment and avoiding local kids on e-bikes and e-scooters. The transparent mode is particularly good in office settings. The sound quality isn’t as good as my Sony WH-1000XM4 but is comparable to my older pair of MDR-ZX770BN. The noise cancellation works well, though not on par with the Sony WH-1000XM4. It did cancel out the ringing of my landline phone, which I only noticed when I found a message later. However, the microphone isn’t great, as a few people mentioned they couldn’t hear me clearly. The input on my computer is clearly specified as a headset, and my cellphone calls switch quickly to using the phone connection, which is confusing. The app for this headset doesn’t have any preset EQ settings, and attempts to use EQ from other models on the Edifier website were unsuccessful as the app indicated incompatibility. While I made some adjustments, the sound quality on my computer still isn’t great. It sounds better when listening to music on my phone, suggesting the app may not store EQ adjustments on the headphones. These headphones use buttons rather than touch controls, which are more responsive but limited. Despite these limitations, for $50, these headphones offer good noise cancellation and basic functionality. I’m still pretty happy with them as they provide value that competes with headphones priced over twice as much.

    Feature-Packed and Comfortable
The Edifier V80 Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling Headphones are an impressive option for the price, delivering a solid mix of features and performance. The hybrid ANC effectively blocks out background noise, making them perfect for working in a noisy office or relaxing during travel. The built-in mic with AI noise cancellation also ensures clear calls, which is great for meetings or catching up with friends. The sound quality is where these headphones truly shine. The 40mm dynamic driver with a titanium-coated diaphragm provides crisp highs and rich bass. Whether wired or wireless, the Hi-Res audio certification ensures a high-fidelity listening experience. I’ve used them for music, videos, and even gaming, and the low latency mode keeps everything in sync.Battery life is excellent—45 hours with ANC off and 26 hours with it on means I don’t have to charge them often. When I do, the fast-charging feature provides 8 hours of playback from just 15 minutes, which is a lifesaver on busy days. The lightweight, foldable design and soft ear cushions make them comfortable for extended wear.Overall, these headphones are an excellent value for the price. They’re versatile, user-friendly, and sound fantastic, making them a great choice for anyone looking for affordable yet high-quality headphones. Highly recommended!

  7. Customer Review

These Edifier V80 Hybrid Active Noise Cancelling Headphones come nicely presented (in a shrink-wrapped box). They look well made and don’t feel cheap or flimsy; I particularly like the colour (navy blue). The headphones fold up neatly and are easily portable. They connected quickly and easily to the Bluetooth on my iPhone — I also downloaded the Eddifer ConneX app (which has some useful features). The headphones are pretty lightweight and comfortable to wear, with a secure, snug fit on my ears. They’re straightforward to use, although it did take me a while to get used to the positioning of the controls.I’m no expert/headphone aficionado, but personally, I think the sound quality is excellent. The sound is clear and crisp, and the bass is spot-on for my taste. They’re not tinny or muffled. The ANC works well and blocks out background noise. The headphones come with a USB-C cable, which I used to connect them to my laptop; again, the sound was excellent. They charge swiftly, and the charge seems to last ages. Overall, for £50.99 (at the time of writing my review), I think they’re brilliant value for money. Happy to recommend. Thank you for taking the time to read my review. I hope you found it helpful.
