Great little box for Linux
Bought three so far, all running Ubuntu 24.04 without much extra work, except you need to install a fairly new mainline kernel (6.10) for the Bluetooth module to work. (It does work reliably after you do that.)The devices are happy with 96 GB Crucial DDR5 RAM, and seem to have no issues with larger NVMe than they ship with as well.

Mini Computer Support Review Update
The computer doesnât turn on when I press power button. Requesting a replacement. I had to pay for return shipment.UpdateWhen I followed up with the support, I got excellent customer care with prompt follow up, willingness to address my concerns and readily upgraded to XT1 Mega PC. Very pleased with my overall experience with GEEKOM. They also refunded my initial return shipment charges. Because of the positive experience I am upgrading my review to 4 star.

Great Customer Service!
New Update:The new computer barely makes any noise, it is much quieter than the first one I received that died. I now think there must have been a defect with the original, because the one I have now is almost completely silent.New Update:I contacted the company, and they responded by e-mail in about a day. We e-mailed back and forth a few times over the course of several days. I sent them a video showing that my computer was not turning and not lighting up, even though it was plugged in, and they said if I sent mine to an address in CA, they would send me a new one as soon as they received the tracking number on my return – meaning they did not need to wait to receive it, just confirmation I had sent it back. As promised, I received a brand new computer about 2 days later. Excellent customer service!! I am very satisfied.Update:Died after about 55 days. Computer just suddenly shut off one day, never to power back up again. I will see what, if anything, the company does about it.Original Review:I am happy with this purchase, overall. The computer is lightening quick and super small. Excellent performance for the money. I use it for occasional internet browsing. On the down side, it is the loudest computer I have ever owned, and sounds like a little jet engine – the fan is continuously spooling up and down. I will probably move it under my desk and put some books around it or something. I would still recommend it…. just be prepared for the mini jet engine noise…

AE8 great for small desks.
Win11 is ok but most of my development and CAD designs are on Linux.Wish there was a VESA box as my Dell monitors use the VESA mount for the base.Overall very happy so far.

Loving it so far
My previous daily-driver was a mini-PC based on the fabulous AMD 5900HS and I used it happily for a couple of years. When I started, I would do Steam streaming from a bigger GPU box to it and had a Windows Remote Desktop for work, so it was massive overkill for those tasks. I do have Adobe Suite, and of course, those tax ANY machine they are on, but I was reasonably happy with the performance of After Effects and the like. However, as time went by, I found myself playing (or trying to play) more games locally. Earlier this year, my work provided me a laptop that had the same access as my virtual desktop. And with that, I found myself using more and more of the local CPU/GPU resources … and finding them lacking. Don’t get me wrong: I loved my uncluttered desktop space and big screen, but times always change. Was there another mini-PC that could keep my desk looking nice and provide a good performance boost? (Spoiler: Yes!)Enter the GEEKOM AE8 and Ryzen 9 8945HS. I wondered if I could simply swap the NVME up to the more capable box. Sure enough, this was super-easy: Upgrade accomplished! I fired up some of my laggy games, and I am able to regularly get 60 fps now on some of the old ones at 4k. For some newer ones, I had to drop back to 2560 or 1920 resolution, OR I had to fiddle the quality settings to make 4k work. In any case, MUCH more capable than the 5900HS!My one quibble so far is that by swapping the storage, I was not able to find GEEKOM drivers for anything. I can’t find the AE8 on the Support section of their website, for instance, although navigating that site takes more skill than I was willing to put into it. I ended up loading an AMD Adrenaline driver, and that seems to have resolved 90% of the problem. Even so, it is a bit weird to have a model (the AE8) on my desk that doesn’t appear under Support on the company’s website. Hopefully, this is not an issue going forward, but as a lonnnnnnng time “PC guy,” this bothers me enough to hold back a star.

Died after 4 boots.
Computer was only booted 4 times and on the 4th, booted straight to bios. Computer came with windows 11 and yet when attempting to reinstall/repair of windows 11in futile attempt to even check on SSD and perhaps repair windows, install software said computer hardware incapable of supporting windows 11. tried to contact geekom through email and got no response .. tried to use their chat system and sat there for 2 hours before giving up and moving on to other options.

Solid build quality, nice finish. Very small, compact with lots of ports. It also has an IR sensor so theoretically ehome remote capable – not tried yet.W11 preinstalled, once configured and updated it’s ready to go. Very fast!! But not suitable for high end gaming. (Asphalt 9 still runs smoothly.)I added my own ssd drive to it as well.Perfect for office, family pc, or even as a home theater pc. Plays/streams 4k videos nicely. I use it for audio/video editing, Photoshop, office work etc.Due to compact size the cpu temp is always above 40-45 Celsius, even if idle. Under low load or when idle the fan is very quiet, nearly silent. I wouldn’t tell if the device is on without looking at the led button. You can watch 4k movies at night without the fan disturbing.Under load the cpu temp can rise above 65-70 Celsius and the fan is annoyingly noisy. The solution is to disable turbo boost from the Bios or from Power mgt: with this the cpu will not overclock and not overheat.. so the fan remains always silent. The system remains still usable and very fast, you cannot really notice any performance difference with everyday usage.Generally I am very happy with it, esp. with the performance and connectivity options. Oh, and Ubuntu runs also perfectly on it :)I can highly recommend it.Update:If you connect this to a smart TV via hdmi output, it will break the CEC control and ARC feature on the TV. In my case it’s a Samsung 4k TV. This means, if you have other devices connected to the TV (AV-Receiver, sky box, fire tv etc) the unified remote control and audio return channel feature will stop working. This is because the MiniPC’s hdmi port does not support CEC and it scrambles the signal. The same issue can occur when connecting the minipc directly to an AVR via hdmi. There are 2 solutions for this problem:1. Use a small cec-less hdmi male-female adapter on either end of the hdmi cable (between minipc and TV). This basically stops the cec signal.2. Use another port to connect the minipc with the TV (with an adapter). i.e. mini display port to hdmi, or usb-c to hdmi. The picture quality is the same, but these ports do not have CEC control. Although you might get different refresh rates and hdr controls, depending on the cables/adapters used. Buy good quality cables supporting high resulutions and refresh rates! No CEC troubles when connecting to a normal pc monitor (via hdmi).
