Incredible Sound, Excellent Price Tag, and Fantastic Design!
—– The quick and short of it is that these:- Sound incredible with a very balanced, slightly warm sound that is not bass heavy or too bright on the treble- Are very small and compact that allows for a very comfortable fit within the ear even if you have small ears- Have a good build quality that, when treated well and used with a case, can last years with daily useSome users may think that these don’t have enough bass, but throw some more bass at them from through an EQ and they will happily take it! I definitely recommend taking a few days to get used to the sound these make and you’ll start noticing things in your music that you did not recognize before with lesser earbuds/headphones!—– The long of it is:These things are wonderful! You can read reviews on these things all day long and read about everything I could possibly tell you, but in my personal experience thus far, I have not been able to find a negative that would knock this back from the 5 stars “I love it”! Sure they aren’t perfect, but for the money, they sure are incredible! One of my favorite part about these are that they are very minimalistic in their size so fitting them in your ears is easy and effortless all while the sound is superb and without sacrifice. The tiny body these things have are a fantastic thing to have since I am used to larger buds that just get uncomfortable to wear. I have worn these on 8+ hour flights the entire time and never found them to be uncomfortable or fatiguing!Personally, I was one to go for bass heavy earbuds and headphones until I got a pair of these guys. In the past 2.5 months of using them nearly every day at work, home, with friends, airplanes, cars, trains, etc., I have found a completely new found love for the balance these earbuds put out! I had a very hard time believing that such a small driver and package could deliver such an excellent balance from the very bottom of the range all the way up to the inaudible mosquito like high tones. The bass is certainly less loud overall than I was used to, however, the authority is still there and I found that the bass was much more refined and full-bodied in virtually every song I played compared to anything else I was used to. I had to go back and listen to my entire library of music because I kept finding new things and little nuances that I had never noticed before! Strictly in regards to sound, I do not believe you can get a better bang for the buck, these simply do sound magnificent! Unless you are an avid audiophile, these earbuds should satisfy pretty much anyone who is looking for a set of good fitting, well-isolating, incredibly sounding earbuds under $100.On the topic of build quality and overall durability, I would say that these are certainly not built like a tank and will not last forever. The flip side to that is that I have used mine pretty heavily for nearly 3 months now and I don’t see any signs of wear and tear as of yet! The biggest complaints that I see come from what I would account to negligence with the cables and using the headphones in a way they were not designed for. I always use the clam shell case that these came with, I never fold or crease the cables, and I wrap the cable VERY loosely around 3 fingers before putting them back in the case. When I put them in my ears and remove them, I ALWAYS grab them by the body of the earbud itself, never by the cable or strain relief. When I plug them in or unplug them from something, I grab the plug itself, not the cable or strain relief. I also don’t use these for anything athletic because these were not designed to be used that way, they don’t have the means to mitigate the stresses caused by those activities. By no means do I baby these things when I am using them and I won’t recommend someone else resorting to that to make these last, but treating them well and not using them for things they weren’t designed for like running, working out, and sports is really the best way to make them last. You are buying the incredible sound when purchasing these earbuds and while an indestructable build quality and fancy materials would be nice to have, these are the best sounding sub-$100 earbuds I have ever experienced!—– UPDATE!Well it has been almost 2 years now of using these nearly daily and I have a few more things to say! First, they still sound amazing and I couldn’t recommend them enough! The only issues so far are that the plastic strain reliefs on both sides have broken away from the body of each earbud, but a small dab of superglue later and they haven’t broken again since being repaired a few months ago. I suspect this is due to how I am grabbing the bud and pulling them out of my ear and have since started grabbing the metal housing instead. As for the cord and connector, they are both in pretty good shape! They hardly show any wear and tear from my nearly daily use and dozens of flights all over the world, but no frays, splits, kinks, or anything broken! At their new, lower price, I cannot believe the value you get from these and how well they can rival earbuds and headphones that are many more times the price!

Excellent Sound, Unfortunate Build Quality
I’d like to preface this review by saying that, while I can’t rightfully call myself an audiophile as I don’t have half the gear required to do so, I do have very sensitive ears. I’ve had many, many cheap headphones over the years, some good but most bad, and I think I certainly know what headphones shouldn’t sound like. These were my first foray into seriously, “audiophile” headphones, and I have to say that I’m rather impressed by how good they sound. According to HIFIMan, these are supposed to be more “neutral” sounding headphone, meaning that no one sound signature is emphasized over the other. Highs, mids, and lows all sound like they’re on the same plane, whereas a lot of headphones focus on bright, sparkly treble or deep, thunderous bass. That’s not to say that these headphones are lifeless (listening to Jon Hopkins’ “Immunity” is absolutely incredible with these things), but don’t buy these if you’re looking for excessive bass. Personally, I prefer neutral headphones, because of my aforementioned sensitive ears, and especially when they have the level of detail and separation that these do. Everything sounds exactly where it should, and I’ve heard details in some of my music collection that I had no idea existed until I tried these on. Not all genres go well with headphones as neutral as these, but that can often be remedied with a little tweaking of your EQ. Isolation is pretty good, if not great, mostly because of how small these headphones are and the well designed tips they come with. Also, keep in mind that these headphones are not kind to low bitrate music, so make sure that you have good copies of your music before buying these. Now, onto the one major problem that these otherwise fantastic little IEMS suffer from. I’ve seen complaints of one earbud going out entirely, so keep in mind that that could happen. On my set, the little rubber things at the bottom of the earbuds that are there to offer more support to the cable have actually both separated from the earbuds themselves. They’re still on the cable, but they can slide up and down a few centimeters, taking away their support and (oddly enough) making them slightly harder to insert. Personally, this isn’t the biggest deal in the world, but it’s certainly not something I would expect from headphones in this price range. Now, I haven’t made any attempt at returning these or using the warranty to get a new pair, as I was able to remedy the problem with some super glue, so I can’t comment on HIFIMan’s customer support. My pair is the only set that I’ve heard of doing this, and maybe I just got a lemon, but it is still annoying. Outside of this, the build quality is actually really nice. The cable is decent, but the earbuds themselves are made of nice looking aluminum. All in all, these are really fantastic sounding little IEMS that are, in my opinion, worth the money. If you want a nice, neutral sound signature, these are almost as good as it gets in this price range. It’s just a shame that HIFIMan seems to have some quality control problems.

I got these because I was look for a pair of headphones ~100$ mark. I did some research which indicated that these headphones were one of the best at this price range. I’ve had thse headphones for a while and I have to say that im quite impressed with their sound quality given the price range. They come with lots of ear buds so Its easy to find a size that fits you. You are spoilt for choice. They are very comfortable even over long periods of time. I would have to say to me that their comfort beats out the shure se 846 iems that I have over extended periods of time.I got these as a backup for when I can’t carry around my normal portable setup (AK240 + se 846). Its really compact and durable. The cables is braided so its not going to break on you…well it hasn’t broken on me yet. In terms of sound. They are quite neutral. One of the most neutral at this price point which is why I got them. I dont get any noticable silibance with them. They do handle the whole dynamic range quite well given the size of the drivers.Bottom line. If you are looking for IEMs and you have about 100$ to spend. This is for you. This is my second set. My first ones got left in the plane seat pocket when i travelled to the US. Was in a rush to disembark. I digress. I dont think you can go wrong with this one. Well worth it.

I only use it indoor with my comp and like the headline says, one side of the earpiece just died. Disappointing quality.

After reading mixed reviews, particularly over suspect build quality, I hesitated for a while before buying these (originally at the £60ish price tag). However, I liked the idea of a neutral sounding IEM because I really detest fake ‘V’ shape sound signatures (bass and treble boosting).I’ve just ordered another pair at £40 because if and when they do break, I want another set! I primarily use them with my AUNE M1S DAP.That said after a few months, I am seeing no signs of wear and tear as yet. They are blindingly good for the price. The pro-reviewers agree… check out innerfidelity etc.. I actually end up going for them more often than my AKG Q701s, which I love because these RE-400s are just so good across the board, and so easy to listen to.. Not boring but not fatiguing/tiring. I really cannot believe the price compared with other IEMs I’ve had… Schure/Xiaomi/Sennheiser/Betron in the £20-£80 price range. When I read those who don’t like the sound, I wonder if they have them positioned in the ear correctly. It’s my impression that a lot of folk don’t know how to wear/position in ear monitors… in-ear! If you don’t get a (air tight) seal, they will sound very bad, tinny with no bass or weight.. but it’s not hard to get a seal. Just play around, and if necessary, get some good memory foam ear pieces. If you like actually listening to music rather than whizz bang ‘sound effects’ then I feel these really are audiophile IEMs at an amazing price point.
