Switching out of S mode in Windows 11
Windows 11 in S mode is designed for security and performance, exclusively running apps from the Microsoft Store. If you want to install an app that isn’t available in the Microsoft Store, you’ll need to switch out of S mode
1. On your PC running Windows 11 in S mode, open Settings > System > Activation.
2. In the Switch to Windows 11 Pro section, select Go to the Store. (If you also see an “Upgrade your edition of Windows” section, be careful not to click the “Go to the Store” link that appears there.)
3. On the Switch out of S mode (or similar) page that appears in the Microsoft Store, select the Get button. After you see a confirmation message on the page, you’ll be able to install apps from outside of the Microsoft Store.

Obsolete, not a power house, but great for the money
This is the second one I’ve bought. The first was to donate for our local kid STEM Lego League group. I liked it so much I got another one for me to use in meetings. I gave up on laptops some time ago, no meetings, using a real PC for sw development. But, ever increasing meetings, so this is the perfect solution. It isn’t any speed demon, it uses an obsolete Intel Celerion N series processor, has no way to add more internal storage other than the 64G eMMC. But, with 16G of memory, it is actually surprisingly responsive. It’s still supported by HP, it’s brand new, just discontinued. I don’t love the small screen, but it is a 14″ screen, so I’ll live with it. Comes with Win 11 and surprisingly it’s quite responsive running it. Do be aware that it ships with the idiotic S mode Win 11 that locks you to the MS store and such. But, other reviews notwithstanding, follow the unlock directions, no issue at all going to full W 11. It doesn’t even have too much of the usual preloaded bloatware. The usual McAfee trash, a bunch of HP ‘tools’, and a lot of the usual MS garbage. It does come with Office, if you care. I only need Excel, so this is a slight benefit. For $250, this is a no-brainer if you just need something portable for email, spreadsheets, etc.

Buyers beware issue appear after 3 months of use.
After having this laptop for just 3 months it started running into a slew of issues. The laptop is slow and unresponsive, tons of pop up ads despite turning off all notifications. Keyboard buttons stick and cause issues when typing. The battery life under little to no use lasts only 2-4hrs tops before needing to be recharged. This issue has happened to a friend as well as we bought these at the same time for work. There is no support past the return window so we are now out $260 each for half working laptops. I would steer clear of this model

Light weight and Easy Set up
We like the light weight of the product. The speed fits with what we are using the computer for. Weâve just had it a few days, but no issues so far.

Excellent computer..just not liking Windows 11
Hay! So I originally got this for my mother and there’s no real issue with the computer. Very sturdy, very well made, just the force of having to log in with your google account is a tad annoying

It came as described
I am happy with the size, thinness, and condition of the computer. It is light and the perfect size for traveling

Itâs a cheap laptop
Itâs does what I need it to do but when you look at any high quality picture it is pixelated and trash I would definitely recommend spending a few hundred more for a better computer

Perfect for me
I baught this computer because I dumped a protein shake on my large one and I use it for school. Itâs quick and clean and stylish. Small enough to carry in my bag but large enough to do its job. The battery lasts a long time too

Beware Microsoft/HP Proprietary Marketing Approach
This thing was a pain in the neck to set up any software not purchased at the âMicrosoft Store.â Even programs that were pre-loaded on the system as purchased could not be activated or accessed without knowledge of how to access the magic handshake that Microsoft support would not provide. I had to go to individual software providers such as McAfee and Adobe to figure out how to enable commonly used programs. Even setting up an existing HP printer was not for the meek..everything defaults through HPâs cloud and, again, no support from HP to enable local print spooling. The speed and user interface is no better than the 8 y.o. Windows 10 system I replaced (forced obsolescence, because Windows 10 wonât be supported past 2025 and many programs already could not be updated). Then thereâs this flash-card approach to local storageâ¦what a cheesy way to force users to buy storage space in the cloud. Now I know why iOS and Google based systems are more expensive and likely worth the premium.
