Switching out of S mode in Windows 11
Windows 11 in S mode is designed for security and performance, exclusively running apps from the Microsoft Store. If you want to install an app that isn’t available in the Microsoft Store, you’ll need to switch out of S mode
1. On your PC running Windows 11 in S mode, open Settings > System > Activation.
2. In the Switch to Windows 11 Pro section, select Go to the Store. (If you also see an “Upgrade your edition of Windows” section, be careful not to click the “Go to the Store” link that appears there.)
3. On the Switch out of S mode (or similar) page that appears in the Microsoft Store, select the Get button. After you see a confirmation message on the page, you’ll be able to install apps from outside of the Microsoft Store.

Love
Battery life is off the charts; itâs such a great functional computer. I use it for work and school and itâs super light weight for on the go. It was a money saver.

Cheaply made junk. Feels like a toy and falls short of that low standard. A stain on the HP name.
Bought this for a college class and returned it after falling behind on my homework due to dealing with the laptop’s shortcomings, which led to me dropping the class and losing out on my $1400 cost for the course. The track pad is useless unless you want to select whatever you hover over (no clicking necessary! … not helpful and somewhat dangerous). The arrow keys sometimes work and sometimes insert a number (when number lock is off). I’m going to do some research and probably pay a bit more for something more solid. Really disappointed in HP. This is junk.

Great Value Laptop for Online Classes, but Battery Falls Short
This HP 14â Ultralight Laptop turned out to be perfect for my wife, whoâs taking online classes for her job. She really likes it, and I think it’s an excellent value. The laptopâs compact size is ideal for her needs, and at $265, it feels like a fantastic deal for the performance it offers. My only critique is the battery life; while itâs advertised at 11.5 hours, weâre getting around 2-3 hours, which is a bit disappointing. Still, overall, itâs a solid choice for students and professionals alike at this price point.

Not enough RAM
I knew it was a risk when I bought it but there is not enough memory for what I need this laptop for. I use it primarily for my small business and need to upload and store product pictures. Iâve had to transfer files to a jump drive to free up space. It would be great though for a student it if using it just to get online! The other thing I noticed is that the brightness is just not that bright. Not great for editing pictures or watching videos, but would be fine for other things. I do have to restart it quite often if Iâm working on it quite a bit. It starts to slow down and freeze.
