Hands down best value for the money.
The Huion Kamvas pro 16 is FAR from perfect. But when you consider a Wacom equivalent will easily cost $1500, or about 4x as much it’s easy to forgive it for many problems. None have been deal breakers and can be fixed or worked around without a lot of pain or just don’t affect the basic use of the display.—First off The positives.—I love the laminated display. This minimizes screen parallax and means where you are drawing is right under your pen. Next is the quality of the screen. While not perfect, it’s nearly as accurate as my AOC IPS display. It’s bright and the pixel response time is good enough for art, and I even played a bit of minecraft without problem to test it. The pen is also overall very good. I have not tried the tilt function but there is little if any input lag and I can see no line jitter, something that is a real problem on my surface pro 5. I am so happy with how well the pen tracks and never feel it’s moving in a way I don’t want.—Now the negatives.—First is the lack of a Linux driver. The tablet will work fine in Linux (tested in the latest version of mint) but you can not set the express keys. Not sure if calibration set in windows moves with the tablet or if it’s part of the windows driver.Next the driver seems unable to support German keyboards. If I want to use a shortcut that requires the use of the Alt Gr key(Like photoshops brush size shortcut), I’m out of luck. I can switch to a standard English keyboard, but it’s not what I normally use.Pen Calibration drift seems to be a major issue with my system. I calibrate the display and within hours, it’s back to being .5 to 1 cm off. Not enough to be a problem, but noticeable. Most times I’m looking for the cursor on the display anyway and not the pen, so it’s not a big deal to me.Only HD 1920X1080. While Ok, 2k would have been better and 4k would be great. I know on my surface pro the difference is noticeable. I can see and work on more of my project even on a much smaller display. Something Huion should consider moving to for higher end models.—In closing.—In the end I just love this display and it has helped me improve my art quality immensely. I’m far from a pro, but I do create decent comic / cartoon style work. The example posted was created on this screen with Photoshop in windows. The work is mine but the character is kassen akoll, or Kass (C) Val Salia. Prior to this display I was limited to pencil and paper and never worked in color.Only question is long term reliability. The display seems to be fine from reddit comments, it’s the cable that seems to be the issue (though again from other reviews and reddit comments, I can not verify these). I don’t move mine, ever. It stays attached and I don’t move it out of fear of it breaking. Most complaints seem to indicate problems after a month, and I have just crossed that point. It’s sad as they designed the screen with a very strong usb port that should not break. Easily the best design I have ever seen in a device. But I figure for the saving, if I have to replace the cable a few times a year I’ll still be ahead of a wacom.

I bought this as a first tablet for a college student majoring in graphics art. A competitor’s product has gone way up in price recently, and I am very satisfied with Huion’s tablet option.The screen and pen-feel are very nice on this Huion Kamvas Pro 16. It is responsive and accurate and I recommend it as a beginning tablet – and even as an intermediate tablet!In my short time with it, I noticed a few main differences between this and the higher priced model that I use daily.There is a weight difference, which signals quality internally. The Huion feels plenty adequate, but there is a difference worth mentioning. I can’t guess at the particulars, but it’s tangible.The software is intuitive and easy on the Huion, but the drivers are not as well integrated with the Windows environment as a competitor’s. I give Huion very high marks in this regard! You must use the software to establish which screen is which and to get your initial setup working. This is easy to do and straight-forward, but it is a noticeable difference from a competitor whose drivers integrate flawlessly with the OS. However, said competitor’s interface is clunky and unrefined with pop out windows and wasted space and redundant nonsense. It has been that way for as long as I can remember. Huion is NOT this way, and has done a tremendous job of putting everything in an organized, easy to understand interface. Fabulous job, Huion.It is relatively simple to outpace the Huion with the pen – but not as a beginner, and not in actual, thoughtful application. Repeated, long, fluid lines do skip or risk other inaccuracies, but you can only squiggle a line so far on a 16″ tablet. This isn’t a problem for someone learning to draw, learning a software, or manipulating an advertising layout. The Huion will easily match pace with thoughtfulness.Though the competitor’s remote frustrates me with skips on a daily basis, the pen interface is always solid. This gives me pause for any Huion over 16″ in size. It is, in my opinion, the fundamental difference that holds Huion in the beginner market. Maybe it’s fine, but it leaves me hesitant to consider them as anything other than an initial investment.
