    Works great
I researched for hours over what type of an NES clone to buy. I tried to buy several used Nintendo nes systems and none worked. I spent hours trying to clean/fix one too, never worked. I finally decided to order this system since the price was so affordable. This system was able to play every single game I had and works great. Video and sound quality was perfect. It is compatible with original nes controllers as well. If you are on the fence and just want to test or play older games, this was not a disappointment at all. Get this one!!

    LOVE THIS
This thing is just about perfect for playing on a retro CRT. All of my games work flawlessly and I love the controller it comes with. It’s also really small and due to the too loader- more reliable. Don’t spend $100 on a beat up old NES that will require a ton of maintenance- get this.

    Pretty decent clone NES experience
I recently came into possession of a CRT television and attached my Retron 3 HD to it. While I loved that system, it unfortunately would not work with the NES Zapper when connected to the TV through the analog composite video connection.I had a suspicion that it was due to the video portion of the SOC and so opted for the Retron 1 AV (non-HDMI) unit to test. This device appears to work with light guns just fine. I’ve used 2 NES Zappers and 1 Hyperkin third-party Zapper and they work perfectly. The audio reproduction is good, not great with most games sounding reasonably accurate and the occasional audio chunkiness here and there.Video is a mixed bag. While the visuals look accurately sharp and colored, there are some noticeable artifacts in some games (though admittedly, this could be due to degradation of the ancient cartridges.) I also have an issue with the image being just a bit off center. The image appears to be shifted to the right about an eighth of an inch. It just barely cuts off the right side of the screen, but it is rarely an issue and hasn’t affected gameplay and is easy to ignore, but it is an issue nonetheless. The device is compact and light, feeling a bit like a kid’s toy… which it is, but for the price, it easily meets expectations and I don’t get the feeling that it’s going to fall apart in the near future.Overall, if you need a good, inexpensive, analog solution with great hardware compatibility, then this is an excellent device.

$100+ refurbished original Nintendo vs hyperkin
The clear picture is from hyperkin, the first time putting the game in. The glitchy one is from the Nintendo original refurbished from Dkoldies. Hyperkin works perfectly, my boy even knocked it off the stand and never stopped working. The Original Nintendo refurbished took about 15 times to start and was glitchy and can’t barely move the remote without freezing. My wife and I spent just over 200 on original console and games just to not even be able to really play because of freezing and glitches, so I took a chance on this hyperkin and I’m so glad we did. We are now enjoying our evenings like we did as kids.

Do not buy this under any circumstances
This is tempting to get since it’s literally the cheapest NOAC (Nintendo on a chip) on Amazon. This did not work with any of my game cartridges on the first try. I had to repeatedly put them in and out of the slot in order to try to get them to work. Then for the few working games I had, when I tried pulled them out it had an incredible DEATH GRIP on the cartridge. Finally, I heard something *snap* inside the device and no more gaming.I’d return this if Amazon’s shipping fee to return wasn’t about a third of what I paid for this.Saving up for an AV Famicom and a converter for NES games instead!

A clone NES that is finally worth the money. Sound fix and…EVERDRIVE?!
I can honestly say, this is by far the best clone NES I have played. I don’t know why hyperkin does not advertise this, but this clone has finally fixed what has been pledging these clone Nes for a long time, sound. It has be fixed to a point where super mario bros. 1-3 don’t sound like trash. It sounds as it should! FINALLY!It also has been confirmed, that everdrives works on this clone as well! I have tested my N8 famicom everdrive via cartage converter. Further tests is needed to see if it can play the hard to find titles, as well as ones that don’t work on clones. Follow up to come soon. All I can say is this, buy it if you want a back up Nes clone for a crt/pvm that actually works.

Product stopped working after ~2 weeks
I can’t be sure what happened because I didn’t try many cartridges out and I never moved the console, but something inside came loose and is rattling and it no longer displays video. I’m not returning it because 1. I threw away all the boxed and packaging already and 2. I want the controller and cables it came with anyway so I will just take the small L and roll on.

Works for everything I want to play so far
So for everything I want to play on at has worked. A lot of Internet reviewers rate it kind of low, but they’re clearly different types of gamers than I am. I don’t nitpick my games to the point of looking for every last pixel. And I expect that retro games aren’t going to look as good as something current. I think the system helps to scratch that nostalgia itch. I’ve only tried it with about 20 different games but I’ve not had any trouble with anything yet. I have a raspberry pi and can play games on that, but the system lets me play my physical cartridges. There’s really no substitute for that.

The system itself is fine, I was tested it with both a PAL and NTSC cartridge, as well as a third party multicart. They all work fine although some multicarts may not be compatible with it. One thing to note is that the AV output seems to be NTSC, so while thats fine with my housemate’s modern TV that accepts both PAL and NTSC video, on my old CRT TV everything shows up in black and whiteIf you plan to buy this to play it on a CRT TV for the proper retro experience, keep in mind that you will need to find a solution for this. I haven’t tried it yet but I imagine that you need some kind of converter to turn the NTSC signal into PAL

A good replacement nes if you don’t want to use your OG nes .. but I did find it s spend up the frame rate on some of my games so super mario runs to fast as it’s making it run at 60 FPS then the OG runs at 50 FPS in the UK the music goes faster you will notice it right away but you get used to it

Cheaply made, plays games at triple speed. Music and picture quality awful. Sounds like something from the 1920s.
