Works.
Now that I have this, Iâve been trying (& getting) to get games that I owned or rented & wanted to own. So far, Every game I have works on it. The only problem I can see with it is that the cartridge slots seem tighter & you have to really push the cart in to get it locked in right. But youâre worried somewhat that you might break the system or cartridge trying to insert it. Even with that issue, I would recommend for anyone who wants all three of the systems original Nintendo, super Nintendo and Sega genesis all in one unit. I wished Iâd of had these back in the early 90s. This unit really is a lot of bang for your buck.Update: Another reviewer said that it wouldnât play their original cart of Super Mario All Stars. There may be something wrong with their cart or they just need to blow dust out of it like we did back in the day as mine works fine.

Great replacement for your old retro consoles
Plays SNES, NES and Genesis games perfectly. There is a switch on the back to toggle between full stretched screen and 1:1, highly recommend leaving it on the 1:1 setting. The included controllers have a very squishy d-pad that I found to be not great, but still works for the most part.

Works perfectly with Everdrive clones
I bought the Retron 3 HD because unlike the Retron 5 it does not emulate the games. I bought Everdrive clones for the NES, SNES, and Genesis (Mega Drive), and one for the Master System with an 8-Bit adaptor for the Genesis slot. All of them work perfectly. The Retron 3 has switches for every region on every console and I have yet to find a game that doesn’t play like it would on release directly from the Everdrive. I got the Everdrive clones from AliExpress, all four of them together is around $120, and you’ll have the full libraries of four great consoles with the old school simplicity of real hardware.

Happy with my purchase!
The 3 in 1 console works using HDMI and am able to play games and brings back memories. I can now share and play with my kid with this console my old favorite games. Works with the NES and Mega Everdrive. Will also work with the FX pro!

Amazing Retro gaming in HD!!!
All games one all systems are amazing. Graphics are nice and you can control the aspect ratio. Colors are off some, mainly on nintendo, but it’s not a big deal. Sound is amazing though! Controllers that were provided are very good SNES and Genesis controllers. Sort of stinks there wasn’t a Nintendo controller provided. The HD is 720, but the fact you can control the aspect ratio is huge!!! I have a 1080 convertor box, but I can’t control the aspect ratio. I prefer this and it looks great the way it should on my 4k TCL tv! If you want some good retro gaming I recommend this big time! Mario and Final Fantasy run amazing!!!

Itâs a great console works with everything 16:9 & 4:3 aspects ratios
I think the console is awesome it plays all of my flashcarts like the SD2SNES,the MEGA EVERDRIVE, the N8and all of my multicarts and original games no problems and the controller that come with it are great it brings 2 one for SNES and one for Sega Genesis you have to buy one for nes separate but that is cheap on Amazon, if you buy a retron 3 HD buy a NES controller at the same time itâs only needed for NES game that depends on you itâs worth it though I got my console today July 1st 2020 and it workâs great.

Great system with just a few caveats
I had recently purchased and reviewed 2 units by Gamerz Tek, one SNES unit, the other a Genesis system. Both were decent units, but felt a little cheap and ultimately, they both suffered from some not so great audio output, exacerbated by a home theater setup. The SNES unit also had a good amount of visual noise. Ultimately, I decided to give the Hyperkin unit a shot. It seemed convenient, covering 3 systems I still had a collection of games for and took up less space. I also appreciated that this was indeed a âcloneâ system and not running an emulation setup such as their Retron 5.This unit has been excellent so far. It feels well built for what it is. Compared to the other clone and emulation options, this unit certainly feels above average in build quality, though do understand that it is still not on par with the premium feel of the actual consoles it mimics. My SNES is an original release unit and it works like a champ, I canât see the Hyperkin surviving 30 years. The hardware does take a hit in a few areas. The controller inputs are at an odd placement. The SNES are front facing, but the remaining console inputs are on the sides. The Genesis inputs also appear to be in reverse with the player one port on the right. Not a tremendous problem, but confusing if you are attaching a controller while the unit is in a TV stand or you donât have a clear view. The Genesis cartridge slot is also ridiculously tight. So much so, that I at first thought it was faulty. I used a game I was less concerned with breaking to test the slot only to find out that pushing the game into the unit requires enough pressure that snapping off the systemâs pins or the game cartridge board is a real concern. This is even more true when using a smaller cartridge, such as the yellow tab EA releases that have a smaller footprint. Removing the cartridge is just as difficult and I am concerned that the pins will pull away from the board after repeated use. The NES and SNES seem to be less of an issue.Compatibility seems good so far. In my fairly limited playtime, I havenât found any broken games or experiences yet. The video quality is good if not a bit muted. I did add a Scan-line Generator into the mix for a more authentic look. It has independent RGB controls and Iâve been able to tune the image a little better, but this is another $30 add on you would have to be prepared for. I do wish one of these companies would simply incorporate this feature into their units with an optional on/off switch. The 4:3 switch is much appreciated. I prefer playing these games in their original aspect ratio. It is a personal preference, but Iâm glad the option is present. My existing first party accessories have all worked without a problem. I have not been able to test the NES Zapper as I am currently without a CRT television. The controllers that ship with the device are decent. They feel better than the usual Ali Express bargain basement units, but are nothing too special. The addition of an NES adapter to use with the SNES controller is a nice addition and cuts back on additional controllers, though ultimately, I have been using 3 wireless controllers by 8bitDo, each for their respective consoles and they have all worked as expected. My last hardware gripe is the cartridge layout. Had they flip flopped the SNES and Genesis slots, there would have been more room for inserting the Genesis carts with the needed pressure and the cartridges would have gone from shortest to tallest with the 2 Nintendo consoles next to each other which would have been more visually appealing. Perhaps the goal was to make the unit SNES-centric as those are also the ports on the front, but the unit does not look like an SNES, so that goal is lost in translation.Overall, this unit has offered a great gameplay experience, great compatibility, excellent sound (true stereo) and video, and convenience of a single unit. It only suffers from a few hardware shortcomings and design flaws that may be more subjective than objective. The unit I have received appears to have passed quality control fairly well, with none of the reported hardware issues as in other reviews. So, in the end, my kids are getting the Gamerz Tek units in another room of the house on a smaller TV and the Hyperkin Retron 3 HD will sit proudly next to my current gen consoles in our main entertainment area for the friends and family to enjoy.

Good build quality much better than one it’s replacing, sound is better. Only small issue is nes games colour palette is off, won’t notice it much but for example mega man 2 his face is an odd green instead of white. But still worth it and 5 stars otherwise

This does exactly what it says it does and the included controllers are excellent. An NES controller is not included but if they had to leave one controller out im glad it was that instead of the 16bit consoles. Only flaw I found is the Genesis slot is ridiculously tight but functional. Otherwise build quality is good. On a side note i dont reccomend trying to buy Genesis and SNES games from Amazon for this like I did. Nothing but bad experiences.
