Upgraded an HP 2017 Desktop w/ i3 – FAST & Big Improvement
Update after 1 year and 3 months. still works as new and FAST.Update after 8 months: still works as new and FAST. so far, the best modification I have done to this PC for speed. I will be content with the speed, and boot up/shut down times of this PC until something major breaks and I’m forced to replace.Update after 3 weeks: Still working perfectly. Really glad I upgraded. Fast!I have an 2018 HP w/ i3-7100 3.9ghz dual core desktop (Model: 580-010) with an 8k graphics card, 16gb of ram (upgraded), and SSD drives (boot and storage SSD drives). I donât game. I mostly surf the web, watch HD videos, some light video/photo editing. I want the best image possible and I want the PC run FAST! Running windows 10, itâs already fast enough. Start up and shut down times lag a little compared to the newer PCâs with windows 11 that seem to start up/shut down almost instantly. Regarding the CPU swap, I looked into updating my Odense2-K motherboard however I had the newest version of the software so no BIOS update needed. I removed the old CPU, wiped the thermal paste off the heat sink w/ rubbing alcohol, laid down the new i7, applied a pea size amount of new thermal paste. Screwed back on the heat sink and fan. Booted up perfectly. I noticed immediately improved speeds overall. Windows loads 50% faster. Programs load much faster. Itâs easier to browse the web because everything is INSTANT, and smooth. And Iâm a “fast clicker” so I want it be super responsive. Again, the i3 wasnât slow or sluggish, but there was a very slight delay. With the i7 chip, everything is SUPER fast. Also, I donât game so I canât comment on that but if youâre looking for a boost in your HP computer and know this CPU is COMPATIBLE and the price is around $100-$135, Iâd highly recommended. $350 is too much. If you donât have ssdâs yet Iâd recommend that modification first. Itâs pretty easy with Samsung SSDâs using their free software âmagicianâ or something and a huge difference in speed. Hopefully this processor will last. It was an open box and came with only the chip. Looked pretty new to me. Iâll update the review as time passes.

Good upgrade for Acer TC-780
New product in blister pack, comes with Intel cooler. Upgraded an Acer Aspire TC-780 ACKi3 (i3-7100) to this i7-7700. UserBenchmark sites this as a 34% upgrade in CPU performance. Dropped right in, plug-and-play ready with CMOS reset. This CPU, along with an SSD boot drive and 32Gb RAM upgrades, made a 7-y/o Win10 machine very snappy for desktop use. As for gaming, it runs a simple GTX 1650 just for the DirectX12/FPS graphics upgrade over the limited integrated graphics, but is very playable @1080p with older games like New Vegas and Skyrim. Works extremely well for casual games. Worth the investment to prolong the life of a family PC, in my case.

The great song writer and astrophotographer!
Great processor working Pro Tools and Cubase. Fast and stable. Software synths and samples load fast, chews through projects be it keyscape or ominsphere, kontakt player etc… without sweat. This multi-tasking marvel, also works a charm in astrophotography, working as a tracking system controlling a apochromatic triple refractor telescope. This processor i7-7700, comes with the intel stock cooing fan which is more than sufficient to cool this processor. So you may not need to buy an aftermarket cooler…. i did… I chose to go with cooler master’s g100m because it is gorgeous and silent in the studio, all the while, putting on a led light show in the studio while writing music and editing videos or tracking galaxies. it helps bring some color in the usually dark studio environment and it keeps the i7-7700 cool even under load while maintaining silence in the studio. For what I do, the intel core i7-7700 is a great song writer and a wonderful telescope tracking system. Thank you Intel!

Excellent Processor
I had a perfectly good running computer that was using an i5-2500K, which was an awesome processor. It never gave me any problems. However, the opportunity presented itself where I could resell that compute at a reasonable price and use that for an upgrade. I sold my computer in August 2017 and knew that Intel was releasing something soon. I was totally prepared to wait for the new processors to come out. I wasn’t in the need for a new computer. I had other means of getting on the Internet and getting work done. To get to the point, after seeing the i7-8700K creep up in price day by day, I looked at other processors just for the fun of it. I saw that this 7700 was on sale for $259. Knowing that I would never come close to maxing out the 7700, why spend the extra money on the new 8700K? At the time I bought this processor, the 8700K was going for $419. Also knowing that the 7700 released earlier this year, I didn’t see a major drawback to getting this processor. It has run very smoothly. I have not been disappointed going with this processor at all.

Sent a defective/resused item
My product came in a refurbished box, as well as with indents on the corners displaying wear on the the processor, so Iâm assuming this isnât new, attempted to get it working and my pc would not post on my monitor nor would my keyboard or mouse work. Just put in a replacement request and hoping the one coming in will actually be a new one. At the moment I would not recommend the product but will be leaving a follow up review once the replacement arrives, unfortunately I paid for fast shipping only to get this and now for the replacement Iâm stuck waiting another week.

Good CPU
Bought this to build my new FreeBSD box. It runs surprisingly cool, but then again I have a Noctua cooler on it that is the size of a Chevy small block V8. Even when compiling 6 builds at a time, it never gets over 50c. Surprisingly fast for code builds as well. My dual hexacore Xeon machine builds 700+ packages in about 3.5 hours, this machine in about 4.5. Not bad for only 4 cores.I am not a serious gamer so the onboard 630HD plays my 10+ year old games just fine. All in all, this was a good CPU choice, both because it “just works” and because of the low wattage, heat and power consumption.

Veloce, economico. Ha ridato vita ad un pc ormai obsoleto. Con questo, 512 GB ddr5, e un hd ssd, è tornato a volare

Works super well, exactly as advertised. With this CPU I’m usually idling at a very low load of around 2-3%. I can render videos so much faster than with my previous setup and I have experienced NO problems since I upgraded. Gaming wise, it’s fantastic as well!

First of all thanks to the B Online Store for the awesome packaging that you can see on the photo . It was wrapped with bubble wrap so tight that if i thew it to the wall it won’t damage that’s an exmple, i didn’t do it or no one should do that . It took me few minutes to open the package to see the beast . Now m using it and its fast its very fast . Previously i was using amd fx 6300 so i can a huge difference in performance. I am just loving it but the stock cooler is not good soon ill buy a new one . If you don’t want to overclock and play games at maxedout settings pair it with a high end graphics card and see how this beast works . I am not an overclocking type of guy so i bought it and now i am totally satisfied with it . If you like to overclock than go for k version but it won’t bring a huge difference. Having a core i7 7700 makes me feel great. Thanks Amazon
