The best Kindle so far
Compared to my older 5th gen Paperwhite with its 6″, the Oasis has a larger 6.8″ but the difference isn’t that much in using them. Both are excellent e-book readers that are easy to hold with one hand or stuff in a carry bag. The 10 years gap between them is mostly evident on how they both do those things.The Oasis software is better. There’s a wider range of fonts to choose from, the access to the menus is faster and they are better laid out. One of the niceties present on the Oasis but missing on the older Paperwhite is the ability to display on the lock screen the cover of the book I’m currently reading.The best is the hardware of the Oasis. It feels faster and snappier to use. The light is now customizable with a warm and auto setting – which is nice to have, and it has buttons. These buttons are what makes the Oasis the best Kindle currently available to purchase because they makes it easier to navigate a book and can be used with the thumb of same hand that hold the kindle. I wish that more Kindles had this feature

Light weight and premium
I upgrade from kindle 5 gen 11 which suppose to have the same screen as this one. This Oasis is very good, worth the upgrade. It is light weight and the body is well constructed. Page turn button is my favorite.

All the other reviews were right, the battery life sucks on this.
Other than the poor battery life, this is a solid kindle, I love the self dimming LED lights, the page buttons, however I was used to swiping the screen, and I do that more than using the buttons.

Read an entire book the day I got it
It will become one of the electronic loves of my life. I love it already. I read one book the day I got it and I havenât done that in years. It is comfortable on the eyes, easy to hold, incredibly light, beautiful in form and function. I highly recommend it, even in 2024. It makes reading very, very easy and encouraging. I do admit that seeing the percentage of the book completed and pages remaining are a great psychological push to keep reading. Thank you Amazon.

Awful Battery
I orderd this to replace my 5 year old paper white series 10 because it was starting to need recharging every day.The new Oasis doesn’t even last a day of heavy use.I complained about it and Amazon replaced it. I thank Amazon for the great service.The replacement seemed better at first but after less than a month of use the battery dies after a few hours.I have to either use my old paper white which is still longer lasting than the New Oasis or resort to turning off the light and WiFi unless really needed.The Oasis has a much fast operation and looks good.However the other additional features seem to be a waste of time.I am a very heavy reader being retired.I think this unit was designed by non reading cell phone designers.I suspect a large batch that failed to sell had batterys that deteriated in storage so they sold them off cheap to overseas unsuspecting clients and withdrew the model from the US market.Don’t buy this unless you are an occasional reader and will not use it heavily.
