UPDATE 6-16-18: Great Headphones with good isolation – Right speaker dies
Very clear, crisp sound with good bass response but now overpowering. Great high’s and midrange. They are loud and I’ve actually heard some things in songs with these that I’ve never heard before. Great isolation due to good, snug fit.6-16-18 UPDATE: The right speaker unfortunately went out after about six months of using these. I’m a drummer and use them at least 4-5 times per week. My mother got me a new pair for my birthday last May (a month ago) and low and behold, the right speaker went out again. I do not blast these headphones either. KAT must have an engineering issue with these. Everything is great about them but this time, just after one month of use, the right speaker died again. I’m very frustrated and plan on contacting KAT and Amazon.

I’ve had these headphones for 8 years, they are great!
After 8 years of using these constantly for electronic drumming, they are still going strong. The sound is great and clear and the noise blocking is fantastic, even for acoustic drums.I would buy these again.

    Great tool for practicing drummers
These are great! The isolation is the best I’ve ever had, and the quality of sound coming out of the earphones is excellent. These will save your hearing while allowing you to play at full throttle. You can still hear your drums, but they don’t overwhelm the music. You can play your input device at relatively low volumes, sparing the ear ringing that I experienced before I got these.Well made, they are slightly tight (you need a good seal to keep the noise out) but my head is larger than most. Still, they are quite comfortable. The cord is plenty long enough to position my MP3 player strategically. After 1 month of use, I would highly recommend these as a tool for practicing drummers.

2 changes to the cord and it woudl be perfect
I had a pair of Extreme Isolation headphones prior to this pair and these are 1) less expensive 2) just as comfortable and 3) same sound quality. The only complaint is the cable for the jack is quite stiff AND it’s too short. I had to buy an extention just to go from my head phones around 1 of my drums to my phone holder). A longer, braided cord like a patch cord that goes to an amp would have been the best however, something a bit more pliable so it doesn’t stay in such a curly shape. Despite that, I’d buy it again.

Fantastic way to protect your ears but still hear all the music
Love these! My teenaged son is a dedicated drummer (they’d work great for adults, too). The headphones let you practice while listening to your favorite recorded tune WITHOUT having to turn your favorite tune up to 11 on a speaker just to hear it over your own drum playing. Instead, the headphones let you to listen to your tune at a normal volume through the headphones themselves — via a standard headphone jack input. Then you play drums. That’s it. The headphones filter MOST damaging exterior drum sounds but let in enough to hear yourself play. A must for anybody who wants to practice a lot but who wants to protect their ears.

Sounds Great, Comfortable passive Isolation. Update 2021: 1 Star
Update: These really didn’t stand up well to normal use over the years. Right side driver quit working. Tested on multiple pieces of equipment. Foam padding needed to be reattached using double-sided tape. Worked well for a while but ultimately junk.I’m a drummer and an amateur engineer who is slowly producing my first record for one of my projects. I was first using the Mee Audio M6 pro IEMs. While I like those as IEMs it was not drowning out the ambient sound. I was initially fired up to get the Vic Firth version of these but the generally positive reviews and vouched for sound quality for just a few bucks more steered me in the direction of the KATs.While tracking live these headphones are amazing. I can hear my drums loudly and the other instruments come through clear as a bell through my mics. There is maybe a bit of bass bleed through but I don’t mind as this helps me feel and hear the bass pretty well. Being able to hear the instruments clearly through the mics gives me the ability to make more critical adjustments figure out which mics are bleeding the worst. When it comes to overdubs, I anticipate these headphones will contribute to me getting better tracks and better mixes.I can’t compare these to the Vic Firths as I have only limited real-world experience,…but these KATs are performing exactly as I expected them to.

Decent at the right price point but don’t hold up over time
I bought two pairs of these about 5 years ago. The sound quality isn’t great but isn’t terrible especially since I use to play along to music. The big flaw really is the adhesive they use to hold the ear piece to the headphones. These have come off multiple times. Going to try gorilla glue next to see if that holds but since they are also showing their wear and starting to get less and less comfortable I might consider a different product if I can find a good set on sale.

    Tight Fit For Superior Isolation
I am a studio musician (not a robot) and need headphones that won’t bleed the reference tracks and/or click. They are very snug and do their job very well. You can find better headphones for superior sound quality, but these are the best I’ve used for tracking. One thing- the plastic part that holds the ear muff to the head strap is small and appears fragile. Don’t drop them!
