    Love my little waterproof e-reader!
I love this thing. As you can see from the photo, I get a little daring with it around water due to its IPX8 rating. This means I read at the pool, lake, bath, etc. It’s comical to see the look of anxiety people give me when I am so cavalier with it at the pool with my kids splashing around 😂The color feature is a little indulgent but I really really love it. Something about seeing the covers and highlights in color just feels really nice. I’ve tried looking at manga/comics on here but it might be a little too small… that or I’m still mastering zoom functionality to read the print. Regardless, tho, I use it all the time. It’s a great size and weight. And I never knew how much I needed those buttons for page turns! It’s nice to just press from where I’m holding. If you’re looking to break away from the kindle-verse, or just want a color e-reader, this one’s for you!

    I’m Converted
I loved the idea of seeing my book covers in color, but didn’t want an actual tablet. This fits the bill, even though the colors are muted. I can see enough of a difference to make me happy. If I look carefully I can see the sharpness is less than other e-ink readers, but I feel like it looks more like paper (I almost want to smell the book lol). I also like the physical buttons. Page turning is fractionally slower than my kindle, but not so much that I can’t handle it. Overall, I’m happy with it!

I would buy this if it allowed an sd card.
It is apparently impossible to give a zero or less rating like this product deserves. This has a zero rating from me because it does not alloy an sd card regardless of a brainless marketing team

    Reading in Color
I got this because I loved the idea of seeing all of my covers in color. The device is extremely light, I also have a Kindle basic and the Kobo is lighter than that. I knew going into it that the screen would be dark due to the color layer that was added. I do not tell a big difference with the screen (I have only read inside and at night with it), but I have heard it makes a difference reading outside. You do have to push the buttons harder but it is comfortable to hold. The auto rotate is a nice touch, so you can read whatever is more comfortable. I am going to finish a book or two and see my thoughts as time goes on.

Not what I personally need right now
I tried to get my Amazon e-books onto this device, I watched a bunch of videos on how to side load them. It is nearly impossible unless you currently have a kindle device, which I do not. After hours of trying to figure it out, I gave up and decided to just repurchase the books on the Kobo store. Turns out every single book I wanted was only available through Amazon. Kobo didn’t have any of the titles I wanted available, which was incredibly disappointing. I decided to return as it was essentially useless for what I needed. I’ve seen amazing reviews but they really need to expand their book store.

Update after a few more days’ use:I read that Kobo put the colour layer on top, and that it improved the display quality. Sure enough, although somewhat muted, the colour is noticeably better than the more expensive Boox Note Air 3C that I bought at Christmas and promptly returned. Colour highlighting is useful when classifying your annotations. This is my first Kobo after years of Kindle ownership, and I must say I’m impressed. The controls are simpler and more intuitive, yet I was quickly able to get it adjusted to a point where text is easier on the eyes than my Paperwhite Signature, and even my Kindle Scribe! Dark mode is useful at night, although I wish there was a way to turn it on and off without menu diving.I thought the misfires when turning pages on my Kindles were due to my own clumsiness, but the Kobo never skips a beat, especially if you use the page buttons, which have a satisfying feel.I mostly bought this to see what I thought of reading Libby titles from the local library (Amazon cheats us out Library access in Canada!), but to my surprise, there’s a lot more to the Libra than library access. The browser doesn’t support Captcha, but it’s streets ahead of Amazon’s crude Kindle browser and quite useful for purchasing books and other tasks.Annotating right on the page in .PDF’s and E-books is a breeze, contrary to Kindle’s claim that it can’t be done. Being able to highlight in colour using either my finger or a stylus, is a treat.Bluetooth works better as well- contrary to the Kobo instruction manual, my ProtoArc ergonomic keyboard paired immediately with the Libra Colour, and offers nearly lag-free typing. This is a real bonus, especially considering that more expensive tablets from Supernote still haven’t mastered lag-free typing. The Stylus implementation still isn’t quite as good as on the Scribe, but after switching to the dedicated Kobo Stylus 2 instead of a third party stylus, I am finding that I am making far more annotations on the Libra, despite the smaller 7″ screen. Colour is a big plus in that department, as is Kobo’s excellent handwriting to text conversion, triggered by a simple double-tap.

Decided to get this after looking up many reviews on YouTube and various review sites. I previously used to have a regular non backlit kindle (probably a 2nd gen). Got this at a slightly lower than MRP price (~18.6k after bank discounts) but worked out as much as it would if you were buying it from abroad (USD $220 MRP). Here is my unstructured review.Colour display – something new, and comics look nice, although not very easy to read on the smaller screen unless you zoom. The colors are not what you’d expect from an led display like a phone, so keep your expectations in check, the tech for that isn’t there yet. However, this was not a big deal for me.Physical buttons – now this was important to me. I like touch screen displays generally, but it just isn’t as nice when reading a book. The two buttons make turning pages very simple for the hand. The thumb just rests in a button, and press for the page turn. You can still use touch/swipe on screen, but I don’t find myself using that as much.Software setup and UI – Very simple to get it started, and some level of customization for the library, although would have liked to have more freedom with organizing/hiding/folders etc. Epubs work without any conversion. I was able to link my google drive account and transfer books via my phone this way. The settings aren’t too complicated to find your way around.Other good things about this that I won’t get into – good form factor, waterproof, charges quickly, decent battery life (~20h with backlight 40% and reading book, not tested for comic), power button placement, USB C connectivity. Nice to have, but I’ve not used these fratures – repairable, can use a stylus (some 3rd party ones too), audio books. Also picked up the official cover, fits well, easy to hold, feels good to touch (faux leather).Only thing I wished for is that this was available at a lower price. But I couldn’t wait for a price drop, as I had a huge backlog, and I was wasting precious time in travel not really doing anything productive. The cover wasn’t cheap either, but no other 3rd party options available as yet, and I can’t let an expensive device like this get scratches in my bag.

It maybe a good e-reader but up till now I haven’t been able to put any books on it… been talking with Kobo helpdesk but there’s no solution yet.If it doesn’t work by the end of this week I’ll be sending the e-reader back
