    Outstanding value
This is such a good value.Four years ago, this T440 was a top of the line laptop. Some corporation bought a huge number of them for their IT department to issue out to attorneys, CEOs, etc. They got a pretty good processor and RAM, and an outstanding keyboard, in a small laptop that had a big enough screen to work with. They probably loved how this computer is basically the perfect size for the table on an airplane. Then IT took the laptops back and replaced them with another set of super nice laptops, and some reseller has cleaned them up and resold them to us.For a small fraction of the price, we still get an excellent screen and keyboard, with slightly dated processors and aged batteries. Mine showed some signs of use on the outside. It still looks almost new, but it clearly was in and out of a bag a few times. The keyboard feels brand new. The screen looks brand new. This particularly laptop, the T440, is perfect for a student who intends to type a lot, and quickly. I’m using it for law school, where I’ll need to type a couple of long papers over the semester, and also type a written exam. I don’t care that this laptop has half the RAM of my desktop at home. I don’t care that it doesn’t have an advanced graphics card for games. It runs Word and Chrome perfectly, and it types better than even the most expensive laptop I could buy. The size is perfect. It’s much easier to tote around than a 15.6 inch laptop. It’s only marginally heavier than a 12.3 inch. The screen is easy to read at this size, and the keyboard feels like a full size (because there’s no number bad, and the function keys share function with the hardware functions like volume and brightness).I could get a T460 for a lot more money, but I doubt I’d ever notice any difference. I just need something that’s comfortable and accurate to type with, and is durable and easy to tote around all day.The computer has all the specs advertised. I didn’t notice that it has a magnetic hard drive rather than an SSD. The battery sucks, but is giving me a reliable 3 hours of life. There’s an internal battery that works fine, but I wouldn’t risk anything important on it. Replacing the hard drive with an SSD and getting a new 6 cell battery will make this laptop perfect.I’ve tested every port and function and it’s good as new. It has Windows 10 pro installed, and I had to go to Lenovo to get all the new drivers. There was a pretty significant difference in performance with new drivers. The cooling seemed to work better, for example, so you definitely need to do this. But Lenovo has an automated webpage to make it fairly easy, and I don’t have any bloatware installed. All in all, this is better than getting a new one. I don’t have to worry about scuffing an already scuffed machine. I don’t have to worry about destroying thousands of dollars in hardware. I’m just very pleased with the smart size and the amazing keyboard.

    Well rebuilt computer.
I use a T440p for work and think it is a good laptop and it has lasted me for a long time. I wanted to buy something similar for myself and found that T440 refurbished and thought about giving it a try. I’m a computer technician and take good care of my computers. Here is a reason why I give it 4 stars:1. Remember, this is a refurbished computer. You want something new, well, you need to buy something else. That means you can get a computer that looks completely new or might have a few scuffs. This computer had a few scuffs and I could tell there was something different about the keyboard, however, it also told me the person who refurbished this took great care on trying to make it look as new as they possibly could. I absolutely hate waste and am so glad whoever did this did the best job they could to get it looking newish.2. The battery was upgraded on the computer which was a nice surprise.3. This computer comes with 500GB HDD (spinner disk drives). All my other machines use SSD’s, so the first thing I did was remove the drive and install a Crucial BX200 SSD in the device (Crucial, Kingston, Samsung, and many other SSD’s will work great in here). The computer works fantastic with that little upgrade. If you do purchase this computer, though, be very careful on removing the back. You will need a plastic spudger tool (link below) in order to remove the back cover to install a new drive or RAM. Anything metal will damage the device. If you do remove the back cover, first loosen or remove all screws. Then remove the SIM card slot (found next to the headphone jack) which can be done by using a paperclip in the small hole. Then gently with the spudger tool wedge open the bottom part of the case. This is the same for T450s and T460s as well.4. The price and the warranty for 4 years was very reasonable. I normally never purchase a warranty, but since it was only $50 some, and not knowing how much life is left in the machine, it wasn’t a bad gamble.5. This is the only thing I have to report as to why I didn’t give 5 stars. When the computer was shipped to me I was given an older style circle power cable. This works in models T430 and earlier. I’m sure this was a simple mistake, but I contacted Amazon and they are sending me a brand new T440s power cable (which should work just fine). That’s all I have to report and am a happy customer.Spudger Tool: 10 Pieces Universal Black Stick Spudger Opening Pry Tool Kit for iPhone Mobile Phone iPad Tablets Macbook Laptop PC RepairGood SSD’sCrucial MX300 525GB SATA 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drive – CT525MX300SSD1Kingston Digital 480GB SSDNow UV400 SATA 3 2.5″ Solid State Drive SUV400S37/480GSamsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-75E500B/AM)

Overall, I am very happy with the computer. It is quiet and fast, and I really like the keyboard. For the price, I don’t really think you can beat this computer. I can actively use it for about 2-3 hours without it being plugged in.However, I do have some minor complaints. The battery juts out of the bottom, which adds to the thickness. The main reason I gave it a 4 is that the specs say that it is an i5-2300u processor, but mine came with an i5-2200u processor. Also, it took nearly three weeks to be delivered (which may be normal now due to the pandemic).
