    Awesomeness

The 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time provide a super smooth and immersive experience, perfect for competitive gaming. The ultra-wide 5120×1440 resolution gives me an expansive view of the action, and the curved design adds to the immersion. The monitor also looks stunning with its sleek black design, and the height, tilt, and swivel adjustments make it easy to customize for the perfect viewing angle. Much higher in-motion object clarity than 90% of screens.
If you’re in doubt at all, check out the review of this screen on RTings. I have two monitors set up, and moving things around on this screen vs. the other is absolutely night and day. LG really nailed it with the LCD pixel color transition math. Many good screens will still show a lot of blur when moving e.g. a window with sharp edges between dark grey and darker grey, but this screen stays super sharp on those same edges. If you like retro-style games with things moving fast in 2D fields, especially emulators playing games that were designed for zero-blur CRT televisions, that’s a feature to go for.It turns on quickly, times out to sleep when the DisplayPort source goes to sleep, and you can set it so it has minimal light when in standby. The stand does not swivel, but you can put the screen on top of something like a piece of scrap plywood or posterboard (so the rubber feet don’t grip) and that will spin. Honestly though, what you really want to do at this price point is get an articulating desk mount arm and VESA mount the screen. There’s a bit of a reflectivity issue. This screen is a concave reflector lens, with a focal length of about your usual sitting distance. Which sounds great, but it does mean if there’s anything bright behind you, or visible reflected in a mirror behind you, this screen has just enough reflectivity that it will sometimes focus a dim blurry image of the light source that fills the entire screen. I’ve never had that in a monitor before, not even my previous Asus ROG screen that was the same size and curvature. All navigation is done with a single joystick control, including turning the screen off. (Which does make it a bit difficult to turn the screen off, but I almost never want to do that. It goes to sleep automatically when the attached computer shuts down.)What’s good about the joystick control vs. other brands, is it’s centrally located right behind a visual feature that makes it really easy to find by touch, and it is FULLY RECESSED. I’m glad I bought this screen, but the only reason I had to drop the significant cost is my previous monitor did not have that joystick recessed, and it got broken off while moving the screen around, rendering the still-functioning monitor useless because the menu could no longer be accessed. This joystick is in a place that will not do that!I don’t find the menus very intuitive, they are over-stylized and changed navigation paradigms just to be different. Imagine someone took a good Wustoff kitchen knife set, then went to Toys R’ Us and glued a bunch of plastic toy sword handles on top of the original handles, and fit the knife set back into a bunch of belt and backstrap holsters on a 2-foot tall plastic ninja robot. That’s what using the menu is like on LG gaming screens now. OK, it might appear to people under 12, but all you’ve done is make everything harder to find, slower to get at, and clunky to use. I wish they would stop it, but hey you don’t have to get in the menu very often, so it’s still a 5-star screen.

    Immersive Gaming Experience
The LG UltraGear QHD 34-Inch Curved Gaming Monitor has proven to be an exceptional addition to my gaming setup, offering a truly immersive experience that elevates my gameplay to new heights. The ultra-wide WQHD resolution with a 21:9 aspect ratio is a game-changer, providing a vast field of view that allows me to see more on-screen. This curved monitor pulls me right into the heart of the action, making every gaming session feel more engaging and thrilling. One of the standout features of this monitor is its overclocked 160Hz refresh rate with 1-millisecond Motion Blur Reduction (MBR). This combination delivers incredibly smooth visuals and significantly reduces blur and ghosting, ensuring that I can respond to opponents with lightning-fast precision. The VESA DisplayHDR 400 high dynamic range compatibility and 99% sRGB color accuracy breathe life into virtual worlds, enhancing textures, character movements, and lighting with stunningly accurate colors. However, I did notice that sometimes the colors appeared a bit off, which may require some calibration adjustments on my end.The NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium technologies work seamlessly with compatible video cards to virtually eliminate screen tearing and minimize stutter, resulting in a fluid gaming experience. These features contribute to a more enjoyable and responsive gameplay, particularly in high-resolution and fast-paced games. The Dynamic Action Sync is a useful addition, reducing input lag and helping me respond quickly to on-screen action. Additionally, the Black Stabilizer enhances visibility in darker scenes, making it easier to spot enemies lurking in the shadows. The Crosshair feature also aids my accuracy during intense firefights.Despite the monitor’s outstanding performance, I encountered an issue with the initial unit I received, as it arrived broken. However, Amazon’s excellent customer service allowed me to return it for a full refund. Subsequently, I purchased this monitor brand new from another outlet, and I’m delighted to say that the new unit is performing flawlessly. In conclusion, the LG UltraGear QHD 34-Inch Curved Gaming Monitor is a top-notch choice for gamers seeking an immersive and responsive gaming experience. While I had a slight hiccup with the initial unit, the monitor’s impressive features and capabilities more than make up for it. I highly recommend this monitor to fellow gaming enthusiasts looking to elevate their gaming sessions to a whole new level.

So there are quite a few reviews saying that when they got their monitor, they have a dead pixel or two. So as soon as I got mine, I checked it and lucked out because my monitor was perfect. I had to change the setting from the monitor control to get the 160hz that this monitor advertises right away. Great picture quality and display real estate. This is my first time using a 21:9 and it didn’t take that long for me to get used to. Got pretty lucky as I got mine brand new on sale for only $800. A lot of the prices available are usally used or refurbished. The dark blacks that people nitpick don’t really matter as mine barely have any in the corners. A lot of the problems people post are if only you are nitpicky and always looking for issues. But if you’re a casual user, you will barely see them.Pros- 160Hz is nice- more display real estate- 2k resolution- easy to use monitor controls- good for gaming-good for movies obviously-easy installation-solid stand (height and tilt adjustments only)-G-Sync/Freesync compatibleCons- Price is a little steep- takes a lot of desks pace if you have a small table- you need a good GPU to use the 2k 160hzIf you don’t mind getting a less colour accuracy, I would suggest getting a VA panel with the same specs to save you $300-$500. But if you have money to spend and would like to get the best possible monitor at this specs and better colour accuracy and refresh rate, this is a bang for your buck buy.

I’m a software developer and I had a dual monitor setup but was able to get rid of the other monitors with just this one. This is the only monitor I use now. I use Visual Studio all day, every day, and I love the super wide screen for having multiple edit windows open along with a couple of tool windows.I have no issues with brightness, resolution, clarity, etc. I wish I had this monitor years ago.

What a leap for me with this monitor. I had a perfectly good 27″ monitor (ASUS ROG PB278Q), so I wasn’t expecting to see much of a difference with this upgrade, but I was wrong. I was seriously looking at OLED and mini-LED, but the technology isn’t quite there yet to justify the cost, especially as a multi-purpose monitor. I heavily researched monitors before pulling the trigger on this one and it was easily the best bang for my buck. There is an ongoing debate about 34″ 1440p vs. 32″ 4k, but I’ll never go back to 16:9 and 4k seems excessive in my opinion.Ultra-wide is better than I expected, not only for immersion in games, but also productivity. I have limited space on my desk at home for two monitors and even if I did, it would be awkward for gaming. This monitor solves that problem and the unconventional 21:9 resolution works in most situations perfectly. The curve is subtle, but needed at this size (if you’re considering a flat panel like the Gigabyte ones). As far as picture quality goes, I read that the blacks look grey and the HDR is terrible, but it looks amazing to me. Even HDR400 makes a huge difference by making the colours look more natural and less harsh on the eyes. Another concern from my research was quality control for this version compared to the unnecessarily more expensive 34GN850-B. Many people complained about dead pixels and having to return countless monitors to Amazon. Maybe I won the “panel lottery” as people describe it, but I meticulously scanned the monitor for imperfections and I haven’t seen any issues other than IPS glow, which is a known drawback of this panel type in general. One minor gripe would be monitor wobble while typing. I’m sure this could easily be fixed with a VESA arm attachment instead of the pedestal that comes with it. Other than that, this monitor more than meets my expectations.I don’t want to have to change my whole lifestyle and live in dark mode to accommodate the inevitable burn-in that OLED panels are prone to, and local dimming with mini-LED panels seems far too rudimentary for the exorbitant cost. This monitor hits the sweet spot and I’m sure it will serve me well for years to come.
