Great 2-for-1. All you need to know.
So far the only complaint I have for the product is that there really isn’t anyone making cases for it so it can show fingerprints on the outside but that is REACHING. It is light weight, small, and makes for a perfect tool in both a tablet and laptop way.

Connectivity description is wrong and nearly ruins the laptop for my use cases.
The description of this item says:
“Flexibility Connectivity – LG gram features multiple ports, including two Thunderbolt 4, two USB 3.2, HDMI, headphone, and Micro-SD Card Slot options, to boost efficiency and productivity. Thunderbolt 4 compatibility supports ultra-fast data transfer, and up to 5K resolution display support.”
This is exactly the kind of connectivity on my wife’s LG Gram 16 and is what I wanted. This model does NOT have an HDMI port and it only has one usb 3.2 port. I wouldn’t have bought the damn laptop given its actual connectivity options as I would like to avoid extra dongles and adapters.

Great computer temporarily; but has its issues
Honestly, I do like this laptop, despite it heating up from time to time. It has helped me tremendously during work and school. The only downside that is truly frustrating is that it keeps restarting and hibernating by itself for no damn reason, even with a fully charged battery. So that is truly why I gave this a 3 out of 5. It doesn’t hibernate by itself when it’s plugged in, but might as well just get a desktop if this is the case. I just hate having to restart my laptop during work or school hours when I’m in the middle of something, and then all of a sudden it says hibernating, and I would have to press the power button every time to boot it back up. Truly disappointing and it makes me miss my Macbook.

Many issues – can’t use it for work
I had a previous generation of LG gram which I used for 5 years. It had a few issues – the worst one being an erratic touchpad that make the mouse pointer jump randomly – but overall, it was a good laptop. I bought this new one hoping those small issues would have been resolved. The opposite has happened: the touchpad remains erratic, and now the keyboard is also erratic, after a few days I realized that the “N” key would work only 70% of the time leaving 30% of missing “N” in any text I wrote which drains quality and productivity… worse, the microphone/speaker pair create echo on Teams and I spend literally days trying to resolve this issue which never went away. I found out on blogs that other people have the same issue and did not find a clear-cut solution. I eventually had to use my phone to take call instead of my laptop… I had taken the 32 GB version to have plenty of power when using multiple apps, yet the computer would very often get slow or almost freeze while starting an app or opening a file… After a month at trying to get all those small issues fixed, I decided that I had wasted enough time on that laptop.

Incredible Power For This Lite of a Laptop
Summary: This 2-in-1 is a powerhouse for how thin a light it is. Simply amazing but to get the full CPU potential you need to both (a) Make sure LG Smart Assistant is installed and set the Cooling Mode = High (it defaults to Normal which will limit the CPU to keep fan speed down – the fan is NOT loud.) And (b) put it on a cooling pad with fans (less important than (a) but it helps. I had to go to the LG website and download the Windows 11 software package to install to get the Smart Assistant app (I may have just initially overlooked it though.)
I’m a System Adminstrator for 30+ years, am a heavy multitasker, and do occasional video editing. I’m very sensitive to system performance as I can easily go faster than most computers can keep up with me running intensive GIS software, switching between apps, browsing web sites with 20 tabs open, etc, but I like the versatility/portability of a laptop even though I have it plugged into dual monitors and external keyboard 80% of the time.
My previous Dell XPS 15.6″ 8th Gen i7 H series processor was more battery hungry CPU than this laptop. The Intel P series is in between the U which is for ultrabooks that last like 20 hours and the H series which are closer to desktop CPUs but eat more power and therefore are a lot heavier. I think the P series is a nice balance between power and battery life in a lightweight package. My Dell XPS was slightly better 3D graphics performance due to the dedicated NVIDIA GPU. The onboard Intel Irus 96EU graphics on this laptop are not too shabby. I mainly got the i7 instead of the i5 as the i5 only has Iris 87EU graphics. This laptop will transcode 4K to 1080P video about 25% faster than my 3-year old Dell XPS with dedicated graphics because the i7-1260p runs so much faster than the 8th Gen i7 even using onboard graphics. But if you are going to do 3D modeling/CAD work, or serious gaming, you should get a laptop with a dedicated GPU. This probably won’t cut it.
I also wanted something I could stand up and watch movies on a plane that isn’t too big for the tray table or even possibly use the keyboard. The 15.6″ laptop size, with the cramped legroom these days, isn’t usually doable. With this laptop because it’s a taller aspect ratio it is still borderline usable on a plane tray table with keyboard. However you could easily use it in tablet mode and if you can use it with keyboard on the tray table it will be narrower allowing just enough room for your drink on the side (be careful you don’t spill! 😉
This is an amazing powerhouse for how small and light it is. The main reason I went down to a 2-in-1 hybrid is I want to get into digital illustration/painting and didn’t want a separate device to do it (like a Microsoft Surface Book or 10″ Android Tablet.) It’s a great value for the price if you can get it at least 20% off MSRP.
    – The screen is great, you don’t need higher than WUXGA (1920×1200) on a screen this small. The brightness is average at about 300 nits which was lower than my XPS which was matte and went over 400 nits. I found I very rarely needed the screen over 300 nits. I’ve used this laptop on a sunny day sitting in the shade but with bright sunlit objects around me and it worked fine on full brightness, but not in the shade it’s not bright enough. It is still brighter than some of the more cheapo 2-in-1 models out there. I miss the matte finish on the XPS but this was less reflective than I expected and you can’t get matte on many, if any, 2-in-1 hybrids.
    – BIG TIP: The only flaw with this unit is because it’s so small and light with such a powerful CPU, the cooling design essentially limits the CPU during heavy use from its full processing potential. You can rectify this to a large degree by putting it on one of those cooling pads with the built-in fans underneath. I tested and to transcode a video clip without the cooling pad it took 4 minutes. On the cooling pad it took 3 minutes so the cooling pad allowed the CPU to run about 25% faster. So this would be a must in my book, especially if you have it docked with the lid closed, if you plan on doing video editing or light gaming or other CPU intensive tasks. Also if you have the laptop on your lap, use a lap stand or spread your legs a little so the fabric on your pants doesn’t mostly block the cooling intake on the bottom.
    – Great array of ports and great keyboard and trackpad. Did I say this thing is crazy lightweight? It’s pretty incredible and I’m not easily impressed when it comes to technology.
    – Only other minor thing I can think of is the hinges aren’t that stiff. So if you move the laptop fairly suddenly the screen will move a couple inches. Makes me a bit concerned how it will hold up but since I use it docked most of the time, no worries. If you are going to use it as a laptop and not docked 100% of the time and rarely use it in tablet mode, the relatively weak hinges might be of long-term concern (extended warranty?) I’ve known LG to make quality products all around though so I don’t feel compelled to buy an extended warranty.
