Ideal for travel with super long battery-life
While I have a current model MacBook, I have always preferred the Windows operating system and the Surface Laptop implements it wonderfully. It has a perfect dimensions with a screen aspect ratio of 3:2 – just as wide as most 13.5 inch [the Surface has a 13.8 inch screen] laptops but with a taller screen. I find that this ratio hits the sweet spot. The case is solid magnesium-aluminum alloy with no flex. The keyboard is also very solid with a really good feel on pressing the keys. This unit has the new Windows AI key but it just replaces a redundant key so that skin keyboard covers for older Surface Laptops will fit this one as well. As with all recent Surface Laptops, the case design is the most elegant of any laptop that I have had. The slots for air ventilation and sound from the internal speakers are hidden. There are no laptops with as clean a case as this one. The new Snapdragon X Plus processor is ultra-fast and power-efficient. It can now be left on indefinitely like Apple iPads or MacBooks, with little lost of battery charge. I just let it go to sleep and when I return to work on it, it uses the Windows Hello IR camera for instant back-to-work. It continues to use the Microsoft magnetic charging system that I like since it is designed to detach from the computer when the cable is pulled. I notice that some will complain about proprietary charging connectors but they overlook the fact that this Surface Laptop can be also charged with any USB charger using its USB-C port.

Top-Notch Hardware and Impressive Battery Life Make This a Standout Device
I’ve owned many devices over the years, and this one ranks among the best. The hardware is excellent—top-notch quality. If I had to nitpick, I’d prefer a slightly better display. Surface devices sometimes feel a bit “milky” to me, but that’s just personal preference. The display would definitely benefit from an anti-reflective coating to reduce glare. The speakers are solid, though not quite on par with the MacBook’s, which is fair given the price difference. My workflow is Microsoft-centric and relatively straightforward, and so far, I’ve had no software compatibility issues. All my peripherals, including two printers and a scanner, work seamlessly with the default drivers.I haven’t used it long enough to fully assess battery life, but so far, it’s impressive. The device is instant-on, and overnight battery drain is negligible—maybe 1% at most. I’ve comfortably made it through an entire workday without worrying about charging.Overall, this is a fantastic machine. I’m excited to see Snapdragon providing solid competition to Intel and look forward to the innovations ahead in the coming years.

    Lightweight Attractive Lap
I like everything about the laptop. I love the sapphire color. The keyboard is comfortable. It has one USB-A port and two USB-C ports. I was able to get a flash drive that fits both types of ports. The laptop charges fast with its magnetic charging port. The screen size is almost 14 inches, which is great for such a small computer. The battery life is much better than any windows computer I have ever owned although when I work all day on it, I do eventually have to re-charge it. The only compatibility issue I’ve had is with my old laser jet printer. It initially recognized it, but I was not able to open the driver once I downloaded it, but I might have that problem with any new computer. I had to change my mouse to a dark pointer, so I would not lose it on the screen, but that seems to have done the trick. I never hear the fan. The computer never gets warm (only the flash drive). The track pad is the best I’ve ever had on a Windows device. Everything is good. I don’t use a lot of additional software programs, just Microsoft Office, so everything works fine. It is the computer I purchased in order to get my work done. I do a lot of online grading and Zoom classes. I’m revising my review because I had some typos in it.

    Avoid!
For the love of all that is good, just pass on this. Looks great, performs great but bricked after a week. Has the windows logo loop of death. An issue I now find out with Surface devices for years and years. Have tried every fix on the Internet and still the logo is there and the computer won’t boot up after Microsoft forced an update. Why Microsoft, why?

Sleek Fast Laptop but AI Capabilities Limited
If MacBook Air were to marry Lenovo ThinkPad, the child would look like this! This is a very Sleek computer, perhaps even better than MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. It is lightweight and extremely fast.Although it is touted as an ‘AI computer,’ its AI capabilities are really limited. For instance, while you can draw some pictures in Microsoft Paint, the functionality of Co-pilot on this computer is almost the same as Co-pilot on any other laptop. I’m hoping Microsoft will add more advanced AI capabilities. Another thing to keep in mind is that a lot of Legacy Windows programs will not work on this computer with an ARM processor.Aside from those disadvantages, this is a nice laptop that I enjoy using.

The best built student/business/ light content creation machine
Using the 13-inch X-Plus – 16GBContent creators: Kdenlive and CapCut video editors are operational and make efficient use of the GPU. GIMP also runs smoothly—just be sure to download it directly from the official website instead of the MS Store for optimal performance. The fan activates at a whisper-quiet decibel level and there’s no noticeable heat on the keyboard.Upgrading to 32GB of RAM is highly recommended, as the CPU remains unfazed by demanding tasks. This thin and lightweight Windows laptop not only feels incredibly well-built but also offers an excellent user experience. For those who always stay plugged in, there is a BIOS setting to cap the maximum charge at 49%, which helps preserve battery life.Cons: The glossy screen glare can be slightly annoying, especially in direct sunlight.

And it seem to run cooler than my old surface did which I didn’t expect. The new battery charging management system is fine even if it had mewondering why it was stubbornly maintining a 74% max charge at first.

I was a little hesitant to move to an ARM based processor. After doing some research, watching reviews and looking at the applications I needed, I felt confident in purchasing. Everything has worked really well. I also purchased a 1TB micro SSD to put movies on as I plan to travel a lot. Battery lasts a long time without sacrificing performance.
