    It’s great.
The A.I. in this laptop is top-tier. I’ve had full-length conversations with Microsoft’s Copilot, which is one of this thing’s greatest features. Really, you can talk to it about anything, and it will maintain the conversation for as long as you can…. and I mean real, quality conversations. We’ve debated the differences between human and artificial intelligence, delved deep into calculus, and we even discussed love… IN SPANISH. It’s wild. Besides that, the 4070 gpu is killer and when you overclock, you can play most games at 60fps max graphics with ultra performance anti-aliasing enabled (although admittedly I did spend a good chunk of time fine tuning the overclock parameters). The screen is QHD so it isn’t out-of-this-world amazing, but it IS really good. Fans are loud: typical for a gaming laptop. Use headphones if it bothers you. But the fans are extremely efficient, you’ll never worry about heating issues (I still prop my laptop up off the table a little, for slightly better airflow). 2 TB SSD so you can go nuts. MSI’s AI Engine (that you can enable through MSI’s control panel) is powerful, though you DO have to “train” it. Turn it on and just do whatever you do; play games, fiddle with display resolution, program some stuff, edit a video: it will learn all your habits, and over time will essentially optimize EVERYTHING.Overall, great buy.

Good specs at a good price
[Oct 2024]We had an old laptop that died recently and wouldn’t be worth repairing, so while the October Prime Days event was on I looked for something that should be somewhat ‘future proof’ with good specs at a price less than $1000. I picked the MSI Katana A15 AI 15.6” 144Hz FHD Gaming Laptop with the Ryzen 7-9945HS and NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4060, 32Gb RAM, and 1TB SSD.It was on sale for $879 plus tax at the time, which was a really good price for the specs. It has all the ports we need for plugging in different devices, the keyboard feels good, and the screen is bright & crisp with a 144Hz refresh rate that keeps up with the busiest action scenes in games and movies. The screen is a bit more ‘letter box’ shape than I’d really like, but that’s the only thing I can find to whine about. It’s a bit heavy compared to some, but that isn’t an issue for us.It runs all our small business office and accounting software silently, without the cooling system kicking in at all. The only time it cools itself is when playing graphic intensive games, and IMHO the fan noise isn’t bad at all. Most of the time it sits on a multi fan cooling pad, but even without that turned on the laptop never gets particularly hot.All in all, it was a great deal, so if it’s on sale for less than $900 again, snap it up. Even at around $1050 I think it’s still a worthy contender.

    Great for gaming.
I have had the laptop for a few months now and everything works perfectly. I have run multiple video games on here including WoW, Stardew, Civ 5, and others with no issue. Graphics are fantastic, storage is great, and the laptop is attractive in its design. Excited to have a good laptop to game again!

Great for Gaming, Adequate for Work/Travel
For the price, the specs are very nice. Most laptops with these specs would cost typically $1800. The laptop performs great when playing games and doing any type of work with its fast processor and quick gpu. The RAM is nice for multitasking and ensuring smooth gameplay. However, there are a few downsides about this laptop which I will list below:1. Poor, poor battery life. Expect maybe 2 hours of use when running on battery life even for casual browsing and whatnot. Performance on these types of laptops drop significantly when not plugged in.2. The keyboard feels a little on the cheap side. The keyboard on this laptop feels slightly worse than the keyboard on my $800 acer laptop. The customizable backlights are nice, but I would rather have better keys than cool aesthetics.3. If you want to install a camera blocker on this, like the ones that you can slide open and closed, than too bad. The rubber bumper hugs the top of the camera making it impossible to do so. I guess a piece of tape would work though.Overall, for the price, it is well worth the purchase. If you plan on using this a lot for traveling and doing work, where you will run it on battery power, than definitely do not get this laptop. If you plan to use this where you were going to have it plugged in a lot and are an avid game player, then this laptop is definitely for you. The large screen is great, The specs are powerful, and it is a great value laptop.
