This beats any $1,000 laptop on the market, hands down, no contest! (And many $2,000 machines too!)
This will be worth the read because it shows we’re living in a very exciting time! It may sound strange but buying products from this company will give you hope in the future of America and more. We’re old HP customers and ordered a $1,900 HP 17.3″ Envy laptop on Nov 28th with a ship date of Dec 6 to be received on the 10th to 12th. While that was barely acceptable, we did it because I wanted their new 400 nits screen which required custom assembly at their factory in China. However . . . on Dec 9th, 4 days after it should have shipped, they had the nerve to give us “notice” that they were extending it, WITHOUT OUR OK AND UNDER THREAT OF FORCED ACCEPTANCE WITH A 15%, RESTOCKING FEE.They then again “notified” us, it would be shipping by Dec 16 with an undetermined receipt date sometime before x-mas! That would mean nearly a month of waiting which for a number of good reasons was NOT an option. I attempted to cancel the order but they refused and then again “notified” us that they had set up a “case” for it. And that if it wasn’t cancelled, we would get an email upon shippment. So, now we’re in a legal battle?!The whole experience was as if we were oppressed citizens from where the unit was being assembled there in China. No kidding, it was pure evil and we actually lost sleep over it! So, we had to get on the phone with the credit card company and file a dispute which was immediately ok’d due to their not having met their obligations of shipping it as of then the 10th, much less on the 6th as promised. The thing that really got us was that you can see where the build process is at on their website. This being nearly two weeks later, our order was still stuck in the very first stage of purchase/processing and “in the que”. The next phase listed was locating parts, then the next was obtaining them, and the one after that, assembly. And finally the last 2 phases of testing and shipping. This was all laid out right there on their site, they had done absolutely nothing aside from taking our money, and yet they refused to simply cancel the order! So, it was back to shopping for a 17.3″. My old HP was only 180 nits and my better half has one that’s 250 nits but I figured my old eyes needed all the light they can get. However, at this point I had just seen one at Costco and realized their newest standard 300 nits screen was plenty bright and clear for me. So, knowing I could shop other brands was a relief. Little did I expect to find that aside from HPs’ 400 nits screen (which was only a $200 add on) the $500 Nimo 17.3″ had all the same and better specs than the $1,900 machine I had ordered! Intel Hex Core, 32 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD, etc..But was it any good or just more Chinese junk wrapped in an “assembled in America” bow? Well, there was only one way to find out and knowing it could be easily returned up to a full 90 days, I ordered it. To my surprise I got an email saying it had shipped not even an hour after ordering it! Then, being in CA just a few hundred miles from Nimos’ LA center, we got it the next day! Here’s the really beautiful part of things, my better half went to work on setting it up for me. She’s the geek in the family and was instantly impressed by the screen and the backlit keyboard which contrary to some bogus reviews, has a decimal point on the number pad. (It’s just moved slightly to the right) Since she works in accounting and uses the pad all the time, we thought the Nimo would definitely never be an option for her. But now it was! So, guess who’s got the new Nimo permanently on her desk now! We’d thrown out the box that came with her $1,000 17.3″ HP so will now use this one to sell it on ebay. She now has a larger and backlit keyboard with several very useful bonus keys, 2 additional USB inputs, an SD reader, way nicer charger, better trackpad, faster processor, more RAM and a big fat smile knowing that we’ll never give our hard earned money to HP again! So, what about me? Well, after thinking it all over I decided to bag the new laptop and just get a 2nd bigger screen like hers but with higher nits. My old laptop has an AMD graphics card that will run it. And after having just saved $1,400, I splurged on a really nice $450, 27″, 4K LG. Since I was still up $950 I decided to grab one of the $200 micro Nimos for a 2nd, permanent PC at home. It’s more than adequate for my needs and I already had a backlit gaming keyboard and multimachine mouse for it.Still up $750 . . . So, I bought a nice $100 swiveling monitor arm for the desk.Still up $650 . . . Got a cordless 10″ sliding compound mitre saw at home depot for $300.Still up $350 . . . What’s a poor boy to do? How about write this review!Support this new and budding company, don’t listen to the lying shills in the reviews. I hope this fish named Nimo eats them and all their corporate commie cronies for lunch! Maybe someday, if we all support them, they’ll open a factory in America!

    Thumbs UP!!!
Nimo is an American company based in DE. They’re new to the laptop market and I was admittedly a bit leery at first but I saw a review for another 15″ machine of theirs and then they ran a killer sale on a 17″ one that gave me the RAM and hard drive space I really wanted and for the $$$ I thought it seemed worth it.I got the gray and black model because that one was on sale and the blue wasn’t. They’re very much alike in terms of the design and the track pad has the same subtle glitter effect which I really liked. I’m a bright color person and I’d have liked the blue but this “Space Gray” is pretty nice looking in it’s own right and I like it.About the only thing I didn’t like was the copy of Windows 11 Home that was installed on it. It was just buggy and it was crashing constantly and really was hard to work with. I de-installed it and reverted to Windows 10 Pro and now everything is working like it should. Big difference. This model is not a gaming laptop but I’m playing casual games on it just fine. I’m voice typing and doing video and photography edits without any major problems. There’s more than enough speed from the 32GB of ram installed to cover my needs. The last new laptop I bought it was a pain to set up. With Win 10 on here I’m not having any major issues. The back lighting is sort of a dimmer purplish white so it’s not as hard on the eyes as white can usually be but I did suggest that they add a couple of user friendly options, maybe green and some other color that would work and that are eye friendly. The sound isn’t bad but the speakers could be better. At this price point they’re decent but watching videos sans headphones I found it to be limited. The sound is much better plugged in.Video is good, not bad. I’m not a hard gamer but my casual games and videos look good. I don’t think looking at video installed it can run really graphics intensive games. You really need the gaming model for that. That’s about it. I was going to do a video review but my older video came isn’t working and my hands are not steady enough to use my phone for that. I’ll grab another cam at some point and do one with video. But so far I like this company and I like the laptop I got. They are very responsive. The warranty is really good and for the $$$ I think this laptop is a great buy. Plus it’s a good looking machine and that I like. It makes using it fun…

    Happy I took a chance
I took a chance buying from a family start-up and I’m happy I did! I’ve been using the laptop for work and play. I’m impressed with the processing speed and graphics. Again, I’m very happy I took a chance, and I will be a repeat customer!!!

    Two weeks no issues
so far so good. I like that is has so many usb ports. it seems like a good value. I have some questions about using the fingerprint scanner. does not read consistently. could be you have clean it before each use? I would like to only charge the battery to 70% so i don’t kill it. I don’t use the battery except as a UPS for the laptop. these are minor issues and preferences. perhaps NIMO will respond?

Does not appear to be refurbished during the set up.
I was surprised how clean the initial setup was! No signs that there was another owner before me, I was leary that it would be a refurbished laptop, for the price I paid. Happy to say…it is not. I work from home and am very happy with this purchase!
