Perfect if you like pure simplicity
Remember the 4th generation original Kindle? Imagine if that was just remade today with a backlight and a better user interface. I love having physical buttons in a neutral location, love how slim and simple it is, I can just drag and drop epubs onto it from my computer, and it’s got a simple light. Was severely put off from most modern models of e-readers because they all seem to love not having buttons and shoving way more features than necessary in. So many expensive popular models want to show me ads, or get me involved in proprietary accounts and ecosystems, or shove a ton of other unnecessary network features down my throat when I just want a simple device that does one simple thing. This thing is as simple as it gets, there are some network features sure (that I’ll likely never use because drag+drop from PC is easy) and for some reason I can play solitaire on it, but as far as adhering to the guiding principle of “do one thing well and nothing more” this is easily my pick of the modern selection of e-readers.If pocketbook is listening, for the next generation of this model please copy the button style of the 4th generation kindle, two page turn buttons on the sides of the device, so it can be casually one-handed in either hand while keeping easy access to page turning buttons. It was the perfect button layout and we need to bring it back. Also, it’s weird that a 2023 device charges through micro-USB, but since these things need to be charged like once a month at most I can’t bring myself to care too much.

fantastic little e-reader : )
i’ve always loved to read. i used to carry books with me to school and i do the same with work now, except things have become too heavy for my back and sometimes the small print is hard for me to read (i would switch to large print if the books weren’t so big/heavy). this little device makes things much easier all around. i can have so many book on me at once without destroying my back lol, i can zoom in if i want to read without glasses on, and i can dim or increase the screen brightness without hurting my eyes since it’s an e-ink screen. since i can’t access the pocketbook store due to being in the united states, i just get e-pub versions of books i want to read, tweak the files a bit in calibre, and put them on a micro sd card that i insert into the device to increase my space. this is my first e-reader and i really do love it.

I love these Pocketbooks!
I have a Pocketbook Basic Lux 3, which I’ve been using for probably 3 years. I bought the Basic Lux 4 just in case my first one no longer works. I haven’t had to use it yet. They both have page-turn buttons on the bottom, which is perfect for my use. The Lux 4 also has touch screen capability, which I’ve disabled. (I hate touch screen!)The battery lasts for weeks with every-day use before it needs charging. The e-readers use non-proprietary formats (unlike some competitors which I won’t name here) and accept numerous formats so you can download books from various sources. I prefer the epub format. These e-readers are downright cheap compared to the well-known brands, about $100. And their customer service is outstanding. Have a question? Send them an email and receive a prompt response.I simply can’t recommend the Pocketbook e-readers enough! (I would have bought another Basic Lux 3 to keep “in reserve” but I couldn’t find one available.)

Screed went bad just after two months
This eReader is a poor quality product. The screen went bad just after two months of use. Connecting with customer service is not straightforward as the website listed on Amazon would not allow warranty claims for purchases in US. When contacted through emails they pinned on the issue on a damaged product and refused to replace. This product is not recommended.

Kindle killer!
This is really Amazing Kindle killer. Most of the people at US didn’t know what you can purchase full analogue but fully unlocked and without any AD. Also fully open and you can copy any type of the book. Backlight works great. This model in NOT waterproof, I got it for my daughter. I have waterproof model to read at jym and pool.
