    Excellent VOIP phones
We recently started upgrading our office phones from the Polycom SoundPoint IP 335 phones.
The phones are all hooked up using Power-Over-Ethernet (POE), so it makes sense to spend less on a model that doesn’t come with a power cable since we don’t need them. We’re using them with RingCentral – and they work great, although it does take a bit to get them provisioned.
Overall, these are a HUGE improvement over the previous phones. Here are some of the biggest changes:
    1) The voice quality is definitely better.
    2) There are more lines, which helps since we have a large call volume – and everybody complain about the ‘call waiting’ beeping in their ear with the previous 2-line phones.
    3) The interface is easier to use.
Personally, I don’t see any advantage of a color screen from the higher-end models, so this is the one that seems to be the sweet spot for us.
I would highly recommend these phones if you’re using VOIP – especially if you’re also using POE. If you’re not using POE, then you will need an additional power cable with the phone.

Good Price – Didn’t come with AC Adapter
1 star for sending me a phone with no AC adapter. Product description didn’t state it wouldn’t come without one.

OK: I would have thought polycom was the best phone, but not in this case.
We bought two types of phones for testing, this one, (being a polycom, figured it would be the gold standard), and then a Yealink T32G, which was cheaper.
Employees didn’t like the speaker phone of the polycom, and I didn’t like the setup – typing in alphabet characters/passwords on the actual phone is pretty tough (multiple clicks per letters, and for passwords – it only shows **, so you have to count the number of times you press the button in order to type in a _ or other special character – very hard to get right).
Now that it is setup, it works fine, but the employee who got stuck with it has asked for a second phone, and he’ll use this one for a special development case, and a Yealink for his regular usage.

    Great but…
The phone quality is great but the lower end of the buttons could have moved a little up. It is hard to press the last row of buttons if the phone is put in an elevated angle.

Sticking keys and delayed screen responce
The phone’s keys tend to stick when dialing a number (the keys don’t actually stick, but there’s a half-to-one second delay in hearing the tone as well as seeing each number on the screen) and there’s a very noticeable on-screen delay when dialing is completed – the dialed number gradually appears seconds after you finish pressing the keys. Also – you need to be very deliberate when pressing the keys or the number doesn’t register. Both the handset and speakerphone volumes are great, but the key touch and display issues become quite annoying. We only have 4 Polycom phones but experience these problems with all of them. Phones located in typical office environment and no liquids have ever been spilled on them. We previously used Nortel phones with no problems at all but needed to replace them when we opted for digital service.

    Defective
To use the phone, you need to enter in a password. The password was not the one that is preset in the factory settings, and 10 attempts to reset the factory settings (all with technical support) were unsuccessful. A call to Polycom directly led to the information that the phone was beyond the warranty date, so this phone was old and defective. Return is being processed, thankfully.

Awesome phone at a great price!
What can I say it is a Polycom.
I use it with FreePBX and use the free provisioning tool. It does not have one specific to the VVX310 but does for the VVX500. The config files are the same except for the number of lines. However, the phone ignores the additional lines and provisions properly. They also take the same firmware.
Love the 1Gbps switch that is builtin at a great price.
HD voice works great for intra-office calls and FreePBX to FreePBX calls. You could hear a pin drop if one did!
    Quality and solid unit.

Whilst the device is new, it was surplus stock and therefore pre-configured for another cloud providers IP telephony service which needs to be unlocked before using with your own IP telephony solution. My device was polling Gamma server and tried to download it’s configuration which didn’t exist.
Please be aware, you will need to do the following steps to factory reset the device back to it’s default position as the configuration and admin password is not the default Polycom password.
    To unlock:
Please take note of the MAC address of the device, you will need this to return the device to factory settings and reset the admin password to 456.
    1. Whilst device is booting after the Polycom logo appears, press soft key for “starting application…” press cancel.
    2. Before timer counts down, press and hold keys 1,3,5 simultaneously for more than 2 or 3 seconds and release. “Enter password:” should appear
    3. Toggle the 1->Aa soft key and enter the MAC address without colons and all in capitals. Note: you will not see the actual entry as it’s starred out. To enter letters press the appropriate number key multiple times for the corresponding letter.
    4. If successfully entered, the device will reboot with the admin password of 456. You may have to enable the web interface from the phone to provision via the web interface which is an easier process once the phone has rebooted and in the idle state.
