Good quick solution for USB audio
I got this for a quick connect solution to my laptop that was on the go. I needed to hook up to various systems which needed different interfaces. This device is small enough to keep in my kit to allow me quick flexibility for random connects. It’s not the top-tier items out there but works well enough for the given needs.On the mic-input there was a some noise that was picked up through direct recording, but with something like MS teams it seems to have filtered most of that out as nobody complained about the audio, not that that is a high fidelity platform anyway.What this is not for: recording studioWhat this is for: Headphones or amplifier with or without mic. A quick solution to hook up to any USB to get sound.

It’s ok for the price
It came in handy when I needed it when I was in a pinch. The audio quality seems a little lacking, but it works and for the price, it’s good. (I see some 3x the price, so if I got it for that price, I’d be pretty upset)I was able to get audio from a 3.5mm mic and use a 3.5mm headphone and put it over USB. It works for gaming etc., so I’m ok with it. I was in a pinch and needed it for a recording, and it did work for what I needed, the quality when I connected both the headphone and mic had some static. It wasn’t awful, but it was audible in my recordings, but the audio worked. I wouldn’t have been able to get it done without this adapter as I don’t have a working headphone/mic jack. Playing games etc. is fine with it as no one seems to notice the noise in game. It’s only if I’m trying to record like singing and stuff that I really care about the static noise in the background. Other than that, it’s ok. It’s plug and play, so I don’t need to download anything at all to get it working.

Well made, Useful with some caveats
For this price, expecting a hi-fi deluxe audio interface would be foolish…However as a utility device to keep in your tool bag for emergencies, or if the headphone/input jack on your computer is broken, this might fit the bill. Useful if your device is lacking an audio input altogether. If you’re doing critical audio; needing hi quality audio- you already know this isn’t for you. At this price, probably it’s unfair to ask otherwise. Follow common sense that a regular audio interface with mic pre-amps (s) and better output resolution would be a better choice. Even those in the $30 range. If this is all your budget will allow right now, it’ll get the job done..Output: For use with Headphones, IEM volume was plenty loud. Sounded clean and perfectly acceptable. For use in other devices, would need more gain. (see below).Input:. Since it’s what most folks would likely have on hand, I recorded a quick audio file using a cheap condenser lavaliere mic. (hear the un-doctored example). It was noisy (with room noise too), but useable- depending on its intended use.Pros: Very well built. With an attractive aluminum finish that’s better than the current pictures. Easily recognized by OSX.Cons: The output is extremely low for external use. Audio quality is about what you’d expect for this price. I have a recording studio with a proper interface. I wasn’t expecting too much from this. I was looking for something small & compact for the Mac Mini in my office, where I don’t need hi- fidelity. Wanted to bypass the Mac’s front mounted headphone jack (that feeds a soundbar) for a cleaner look. The Mac’s headphone output of course had more gain. The low line level of the Reborn required having to goose the volume of the soundbar considerably.Without getting overly technical (and I didn’t take measurements…) I would suspect the output is at line level. (-10 db). Maybe even less.. Enough to comfortably drive most consumer in-ear headphones. Not enough to get loud with regular headphones. Using Reborn’s output into a mixer or other audio device with control over input gain would be the best course.For less than the price of a cup of cafe coffee, this is worth keeping in your bag. You never know when it will come in handy.
