Needed more video memory for 3 ultrawide screens …….
Ive been using 90% Nvidia gpu’s for the better of 35 yrs , but Ive had it with Nvidia’s ceo and raping its customers . Ive decided AMD is looking good these days and Ive been happy since early Ryzen and SUPER happy with my 5900X rig for the last 18/24+ months that Ive decided to switch to an AMD gpu . ~ Basically with the three ultrawide screens (7680×1440) I was going over the 12gi limit on my Evga 3080 FTW Ultra 12gig . I was not going over the 12 gig by much (so I thought, and proved otherwise) , but knew I was restricting myself visually , in game FPS , etc . Likely any future usage might/WOULD be problematic . ~ Hence the 7900xtx Nitro , going by some other reviews , the xtx was a no brainer and the Nitro was told , built well , ran cool and quite was an added plus and a must in all respects . ~ To make a long story short …. The AMD 3 screen setup was a bit to get used to vs Nvidias 3 screen setup and Iam still learning on tweaking the screens to my liking , but I expected a bit of learning curve . ~ Ok , day one just try the card out ….. NICE! ….running quite , cool and wonderful on a few of my AAA games thus far and definitely going over that NVidia 12gig limit to a 17/18+ gig average of video memory with the XTX . ~I think (I know) I made the right choice to switch and the correct brand and version of the 7900XTX .****** I must note though , the first 7900xtx Nitro was DOA (my first ever gpu doa over all these yrs )I had Amazon send me another (kinda a pain as the changed how this used to be done) , but Got the new card the next day (thanks Amazon) , and the second Nitro fired up right away and in 15 minutes was up and running some test/games/etc. ~*** Wish these cards had a 3 yr warranty instead of 2 , but I opted for the 4 yr after market warranty as I know 2 yrs is not enough and Ive learned not to always count on some companies on rma’s being problem free , such as Evga’s used to be all these years .Right now Iam very happy thus far even it only being day two of usage . ~ If anything major changes I will update . Wallet is definitely abit lighter , but I know its worth it for me and I should be more than ready for yrs to come .**** SYSTEM : Ryzen 5900x (on mild custom water loop), MSI Mag X570s , 7900xtx Nitro+ , Gskill 3600/18/ 2x32gig , Multiple Nvme/Sata SSD’s , Creative AE5+ s/card , 3x 34″ LG Ultrawides (in AMD EyeInfinity ) . Corsair 780T case .EDIT UPDATE :Ive now had the gpu for two months now and Iam still happy with my decision to sell my Evga RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra 12gig and replace it with this 7900xtx . ~ Ive had a few problems , but nothing major or even closed to major . ~ Part of the problem was learning the best settings for the 3 Ultrawide’s as one , and a few other settings that were new/different from my past Nvidia settings . ~ At this time all problems have been resolved/learned and all games have been rock solid since this review update . ~ Gpu does run nice and cool and quite (set at 50/55% fan at around 60 degree *c) and running at 7680x 1080p/1440p with all games running at its native rez with 120-160 fps on average .At this time I have ZERO regrets switching to an AMD gpu and happy as heck that I should be good for some time to come (including amount of gpu memory) !*UPDATE 9/9/23Card is still running great , no problems with latest driver update(s) , some games look even better at default resoltion . Latest installed 23.102 . ~ Not sure if I need update 23.11.1 .*UPDATE : 02/27/2024Ok , eight months later with my Sapphire Nitro+ 7900xtx and …….. STILL happy as heck with my gpu , and its been running extremely well , cool and quite as usual with all 3 screens for gaming. ~ No problems to speak of , AMD drivers have been pretty good and solid over the months. ~ HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY !**** SYSTEM :Ryzen 5900x (cpu on mild custom water loop w/ 2x rads),MSI Mag Wifi x570s ,7900xtx Nitro+ (stock/oc bios) ,Gskill 3600/18/ 2x32gig ,Multiple Nvme/Sata SSD’s ,Creative AE5+ s/card ,34″ LG Ultrawide’s (in AMD EyeInfinity 7860×1080/1440p ) .Corsair 780T case .***** (UPDATE : 8/9/24 , 14 M0NTHS later w 7900xtx)Well its 14 months later already with my beautiful Sapphire Nitro+ ….Still running the same 5900x system as previously mentioned ,but now running the “native” resolution of 10320 x 1440 in EyeInfinity vs my past 7680 x1440 (due to slight monitor change) .Bottom line …..STILL super happy with my Nitro+ 7900xtx ..Thx to AMD and driver updates , this card still handling all my gaming withOUT being self overclocked as of yet. ~ Solid gaming , drivers have been good , temps are xint , all is GREAT in my long time gaming experience (35+yrs) .Have no intentions of changing my gpu , but ….. maybe to AMD 7 or 9 series 7900x3d or 9000 ? ; but still in no hurry or need atm .Bottom line , lam VERY HAPPY still with the Sapphire 7900xtx Nitro+ (solid card , temps cool , very quite = LUV)***IMPORTANT UPDATE : I forgot to mention , I have upgraded the PSU for this card about 4 months back (about a year in on owning this gpu) from my Evga G3 850 watt , to a Seasonic Vertex 1200 watt ; this due to using a 10300×1400 resolution I now use that was causing minor game blick outs . Since the PSU change all is extremely well again in all pc work including heavy gaming . `

Sapphire Nitro+ RX 7900 XTX Vapor-X: Ultimate 4K AI Training Powerhouse with Stellar Cooling
The Sapphire Nitro+ RX 7900 XTX Vapor-X is an impressive piece of technology, designed for gamers and creators who need top-tier performance. With its sleek design and powerful features, it stands out as one of the best options in the market for 4K gaming and high-performance applications like AI training with TensorFlow.#### PerformanceThe card boasts 24GB of GDDR6 memory and a 384-bit memory bus, which translates into a massive bandwidth of 960 GB/s. Its RDNA 3 architecture, featuring 96 compute units and 96 ray accelerators, ensures excellent performance in both rasterization and ray tracing tasks. During my gaming sessions, the card consistently outperformed expectations, maintaining high frame rates in demanding titles at 4K resolution.#### Cooling and NoiseOne of the standout features is the Vapor-X cooling system, which includes a vapor chamber and a trio of large fans. This design keeps the card running cool, with temperatures rarely exceeding 60°C even under heavy load. Additionally, the fans operate quietly, thanks to the wave fin design and two-ball bearings, making it one of the quietest high-end GPUs available:citation[oaicite:7]{index=7}:citation[oaicite:6]{index=6}.#### Design and Build QualityAesthetically, the card is stunning. It features a matte grey finish and dual ARGB light bars that can be customized via the TriXX software, allowing for an impressive light show inside your case. The die-cast aluminum front plate and metal backplate not only enhance durability but also improve thermal performance. The card’s 3.5-slot Pantheon cooler provides a significant surface area for heat dissipation, adding to its efficient cooling capabilities:citation[oaicite:5]{index=5}:citation[oaicite:4]{index=4}.#### Additional FeaturesThe Nitro+ includes a dual BIOS feature, letting users switch between an overclocking mode and a quieter mode for everyday use. This, coupled with features like fuse protection, a graphics card supporter, and an external ARGB sync, makes it a versatile option for both gaming and productivity setups. The Fan Quick Connect system is particularly handy, allowing easy replacement of fans without sending the card in for service:citation[oaicite:3]{index=3}:citation[oaicite:2]{index=2}.#### Price and ValuePriced around $1,099, the card offers great value compared to its NVIDIA counterparts like the RTX 4080, especially considering its superior rasterization performance. While it trails in ray tracing, the gap is not significant enough to detract from its overall value, particularly for those who prioritize 4K gaming performance:citation[oaicite:1]{index=1}:citation[oaicite:0]{index=0}.#### ConclusionOverall, the Sapphire Nitro+ RX 7900 XTX Vapor-X is an exceptional graphics card for gamers and content creators looking for high performance and excellent cooling in a stylish package. Its combination of advanced features, outstanding cooling, and competitive pricing make it a top choice for those looking to future-proof their setup.

Amazing GPU.Custom cooler shows much attention to detail. This GPU looks as almost as expensive as it costs which is very rare these days. The LED light bars look great (both top and bottom), and I don’t even like LEDs. I like you can run an ARGB cable from the GPU itself to your motherboard to sync up the GPU with colors with the rest of your rig if desired. The bars cast a nice soft diffused glow that runs the stretch of the card (top and bottom) . Looks aside (very impressive), If you look at all pros/con’s and factor in the extra cost for the custom design, this model is a clear cut above the rest of the older and reused/adapted HS designs from past generations. This is one of those GPU’s that you can run at 420W (stock OC), and it shrugs it off the heat and noise like its nothing. The only other model that comes close is the Asus TuF, but it uses a tired looking military design where the Sapphire Nitro looks like someone actually put effort into not only the appearance, but the vapor chamber cooling keeps hotspot temps under 80C (hit 78 on stock, 75 on secondary bios. The card is very quiet and has just a tad of coil whine on an open bench. When placed in a case the mild coil whine quickly fades. Setting to the second bios saves about 40W which may not seem like much, but it reduced temps and fan speeds even lower, and surprisingly without noticeable performance loss.Nice thing about this card is you can use Sapphire Trixx software to flip between BIOS’s, no need to crack open the case with a flashlight to flip a dip switch. I’d recommend the second bios as a starting point, and then work on an undervolt to bring power down to almost Geforce 4000 series power efficiency. I’m still tweaking but its looking like 350-375 total wattage is possible after undervolting, but YMMV (silicon lottery). What else separates this from the “Competition”?Dual HDMI 2.1a for 8K 60Hz support, plus two Displayport that pushes into to 50GB/s territory ensure no upgrade will be necessary for a long while (24GB of GDDR6 will help with longevity as well).Given the competition, for pure rasterized performance you can’t beat the 7900 XTX (skip the XT unless it’s at least 25% less) with anything but a 4090. The 4090 cost twice the price so not really a comparison. Even then, the 7900 XTX nips st the heels or even surprisingly beats the 4090 (Call of Duty) although that’s rare.Lastly, while RDNA 3.0 is not an RT monster, the RT capabilities are sufficient enough to handle many/most games at 1440P without killing performance or IQ. 1440P Ultra with RT above 60 FPS is common on AAA games. It compares to roughly 3090 Ti speeds so far in my testing for typical RT games, but falls behind the 4080/90 by 20-50% (more for path traced games of which there are only two). That being said, matching, or even besting Nvidia’s 3000 series was a nice surprise I didn’t expect given all the negatively around RT.All this being said, RT is still largely gimmicky where games have to exaggerate the effects to even be noticeable, and that’s why RT is often the first thing disabled to claw back performance. Upscaling helps but ruins IQ while in motion (on both sides).Sad reality is that even the mighty 4090 is too slow for RT (path tracing) without the use of image downgrading technology like DLSS at 4K. At 1440P you can “experience” path tracing but the GPU even at $2500 CAD is not capable of delivering a anything special.RT will shine one day, today is not the day though (we need at least 3-4x the 4090 RT performance to have high refresh with RT enabled), so this is a long way of saying RT is good enough on the 7900 XTX, but suffers horribly for fully path traced games (as do Nvidia cards) although driver improvements have allowed for 1440P Quake 2 path traced above 60FPS at ultra details.Tldr; buy it if you want the best performance per dollar high performing GPU that doesn’t look like they adapted some old design on to cheap. It beats the 4080 by around 5-10% (possibly larger in the future as 4080 maxes out at 16GB), and nips at the heels of the 4090 (especially at 1440P).You can gain an additional 5-10% performance if overclocking but the extra power needed to drive RDNA past 3Ghz isn’t really worth it IMHO.
