2018+ scan tool read and write
Works great on the 2018+ Ram 5500 that have security gateway. I can use my scan tool normally to read codes and write. Function tests and calibration functions also work perfectly fine as well. There is quick and Ez vids on utube on how to to connect it to the can bus. I recommend snipping off the hold down tab if your going to be using this for work on multiple vehicles makes getting it out a lot easier.

Auto manufacturers are always trying to find ways to keep you from accessing important information about your vehicle… IT’S YOUR VEHICLE ! Used in conjunction with a wide variety of available OBDII readers/tuners, you can access and in some cases change the way your vehicle operates. This adapter, as titled, simply bypasses the electronic security mechanism that the manufacturer has built into YOUR vehicle so you can access and clear most trouble codes, monitor critical functions of your vehicle, and read ECM data that would otherwise be solely limited to a dealerships OBD II equipment. Trouble codes can be… troublesome, right? Take the guess work out of the frustration. Know what needs to be done BEFORE you take your vehicle to a dealership for service ! Again, THIS CABLE ADAPTER ONLY BYPASSES THE SECURITY GATEWAY BUILT INTO SOME (not all) VEHICLES. Easy install/uninstall. This particular cable didn’t come with any instructions BUT, there are many videos on a popular video website that will show you how to install it in your vehicle. You can leave it hooked up or remove it… such as when you take your vehicle to a dealership. (As it may mess with their diagnostic equipment.) You are supposed to have one of these if you change certain things on your 2018+ Ram using a program like AlphaOBD. I don’t know if I really needed this for the items I have changed but it fits and isn’t hard to install.

Wont work properly!!
This seems to be good quality, and it plugs right in as it should, but it wont work. And we also tried my friends same pigtail on my truck and his and it wont work either. So I ended up ordering one right from ezlink/auto agent, which is twice the money as this one from Amazon, but, it works perfect!!

Used this with AlfaOBD to program keys to my 2018 RAM. Worked great great alternative to the red bypass cable you would have to remove the radio to get to. This one hooks up right under the dash.
