Great fit, good noise cancelling, good value
Took a while to figure out how to wear them. Don’t try to push them deep in ear (for me they work best when worn “superficially” with large buds).

It’s an all in one
The sound is incredible, they are super comfortable and the functions they have are amazing.

Hard to use, poor ANC, expensive
I was really hopeful that these earbuds from Sony would work out while using at the gym. Unfortunately, the tap feature is hard to use. In addition, the ANC does not work as well as other earbuds I have. I also really hate the case. It is much thicker than an AirPods Pro case and it doesnât fit well in pockets. Finally, the headphones are expensive for the sound quality.

Great sound, comfortable to wear, good noise cancellation.
These buds are feature packed in a comfortable, small size. I wear these mostly when working out and they stay put well without pinching due to the little silicone “hooks” that fit inside the ear. The hooks are really soft and you really cannot feel them. These also don’t have the dangly end that you find on some of the fruit branded buds that I really don’t like. I wear buds when getting ready for work and can’t comfortably shave with the dangly thing sticking down without taking them out or fiddling with them to keep them out of the way. The noise cancelling (NC) is really good as long as you aren’t in too loud of an environment. For instance, my riding lawnmower is too loud for these and I have to use my over the ear NC headphones, but running my leaf blower and quieter, they work pretty well. The sound profile of these buds is really good. Adequate bass with a good punch without being muddy or tinny. Earbuds can be hit or miss on this from my experience and these are good enough to finally replace my old daily buds. These buds have adaptive NC/ambient mode but I found that I didn’t really like using the auto sensing feature just because of the different way that I use them. I imagine this would be super useful for some people but since I don’t walk around in high traffic areas that much, I didn’t need or want the ambient mode turning itself on when I switched from sitting to walking. A double tap *near* the left bud is easy enough to change back and forth.Speaking of controls, you don’t have to actually touch the buds to control the functions. Which is nice. I’ve had buds that were capacitive and if you adjusted the fit in your ear, they would think that you were tapping them and would hang up calls or change volume or any number of unwanted commands. These do not do that; you can re-seat them in your ear or scratch an itch or whatever and not accidentally trigger an action. Nothing is a single tap and most functions are multiple deliberate taps. The only thing that I’d change is less taps for volume up/down but honestly, that rarely happens due to the effectiveness of the NC.Overall, these buds combine some of the best features in one comfortable good sounding package. These are on the higher end, pricewise of buds that I’ve used but they are still far less expensive than most of what they compete with so they are a good compromise.

For better sound, we get charged a lot of $
I loved these. They fit perfect in my ears. Then going into the Sony app., you get taken down a long road of other sign in’s and other verifications only to find out to listen to “360” music on app touch button, which is unbelievably amazing, then you pic a streaming app only to then pay between a $150 to $250 a year. They tease you with a phenomenal sound with a touch in the app, we should be warned about the ripoff, very very disappointed.

Comfortable and Very Good Audio with Frustrations
Comfort: Slightly less comfortable than my Apple AirPods yet more secure than any others Iâve ever had. Comfort-wise, I’m a big fan of the Apple style earbuds; unfortunately they fall out of my ears if I’m doing just about anything other than standing or sitting. I’ve tried several other buds in the $30-$50 range and most of them become uncomfortable after a short time and they tend to fall out or at least come loose with the tiniest bit of activity. (I typically use large or medium tips on other buds.)Sound Quality: I find the tone response in all ranges superior to all the other buds Iâve tried. Iâm not an audiophile, but 40 years ago I was and to this day I still find digital music lacking in the richness, depth and feeling that comes from vinyl (for reference). If youâre running the buds through the Sony app you have several different equalizer settings including a couple customizable settings.Noise Suppression: It works; itâll remove the hum of a refrigerator but the times I really want noise suppression (like meditation), Iâll still reach for my earphones which are better at that.Ambient Sound: This also works well but it gives noises like voice a mechanical quality. The App: I havenât spent more than a couple hours trying to figure out the app and all its settings (nor will I spend any more time trying to). From a guy who wishes flip phones with keypads were still a thing, I find much of the app complex and not very user friendly. All the bells and whistles these buds offer are only available through the app. In other words theyâre just plain earbuds when connected to the TV (which makes them worth about half what they cost). The complaints about needing to have a subscription to fully unlock the features are valid.Connectivity: Good but⦠They easily paired with my Google TV but they would not pair with anything else until I made the TV âforgetâ the buds. After that, they easily paired with my Google phone. The instructions tell me the buds will remember eight different devices but I havenât figured out how. They will pair with two different devices at the same time though. I tested that with my Chromebook and Google phone and in that regard they work excellent. This is an impressive feature (that I almost donât have a use for – but it is cool). The Tap Feature: This too is cool but my old mind canât remember which tap on which ear does what. This is a me problem and not a Sony problem. Still, I find it a tad frustrating.Battery Life: Better than anything else I have. Two movies plus and they didnât die. I didnât run the case all the way down because after three or four days I felt guilty if I didnât charge it. The case appears to take an extremely fast charge.Support: Lacking, in my opinion. The PDF file from Sony looks great at first glance, but I couldnât seem to find what I was looking for when I was looking for it. A quick start user video from Sony would be helpful.Overall: High points for comfort, sound quality, battery life, and features. My primary complaint is that I have to make devices forget the buds so I can connect them to other buds.

Iâve got tiny ears so I donât have much to say about the âfinsâ (fitting supporters) because they donât fit inside MY ear at all BUT, still very comfortable nonetheless. The fitting supporters would fit someone with maybe average to above average sized ears especially when combined with the extra small ear tips included in the box.The charging case opens like a shell which Iâm not really a big fun of, much prefer the older modelâs case but I do like the dual finish-glossy top and matte bottom. In the case are the designated charging slots for the earbuds along with room for the fins which if you do decide take of the fins, the interior of the case is designed in way that earbuds will still be able to fit inside and charge. Really good design! The sound quality is decent i would say out of the box, but once you utilize the clear bass feature which you can find on the sound connect app, these can sound really good. I put clear bass at +9, lowered the mids by two notches, and bump the highs up 2notches, and for me, that sounds good.Noise cancelling is really good. You can still hear some low frequencies like heavy footsteps and some high frequencies like sirens but they are tuned down very low to the point of ALMOST being non audible. Maybe itâs just me but with anc on that clogged feeling around the eye and noise area is non-existent with these which is great for people who hate that feeling.Ambient mode is impressive. You turn it on and they feel like open earbuds, however the sound does shift once you do so, to more bass and less treble which can be jarring once you turn it off and all the bass goes away and the treble kicks in. This is the same with anc on but even more bass. The ear does readjust after some time though. The tap control feature can very unresponsive at times because they say you should tap in front of the ear or on the earbuds themselves to get it to work, but I find that repeatedly tapping on top of the ear as in the flabby cartilage part, works WAY better. Surprised thatâs not how the tap control was advertised.BY FAR my favorite thing on the linkbuds fit is the background music effect within the sound connect app. That âcafeâ effect is really really cool. That feature is 5 stars on its own!Overall they are good earbuds with decent sound outside the box, really good anc and impressive ambient mode which is a step up from the previous model. My only cons are that I wish they were smaller so they werenât so uncomfortable when laying on my side and since they stick out so much for me, they are very noticeable out in public which I donât like, but maybe thatâs just my small ears.Again, that background sound effect feature is amazing! Good job Sony.

These Sony Linkbuds are pretty awesome but they should be considering they come with a hefty price tag.I have had terrible luck with earphones and earbuds (all but one – my current ones, have stopped working or are not working properly; static, one ear is not functional, etc). Since these are so expensive, I am assuming these are of superior quality and should last a long time, hopefully a lifetime *fingers crossed*.Now I was very fortunate in obtaining this through Amazon’s Vine program, so Thank You Amazon! I am grateful because there is no way I would have been able to afford these otherwise. Their current price, at the time of this review, is a whopping and not too demure $299.99, which is at the very expensive range of any spectrum. The buds comes inside a very elegantly designed storage case; it literally looks like porcelean, and yes, these do look expensive. The moment I took one of the ear buds out of the storage case, it immediately initiated the Sony app to pop up on my phone (clever technology) and I ended up downloading it and signing up. Not sure if this is required since the bluetooth works well enough if you just want to listen to music. The buds are an excellent size for my ears. Small, compact, these fit perfectly snug. I would state these are some of the most comfortable ear buds I have ever owned and I have no issues with them falling out.The sound is also impressive. Crisp, clean, clear; in comparison to my previous buds, the difference here is immediately evident, these are superior. These buds boast in being noise cancelling and I have to hand it to Sony, they did an excellent job with these as these are the closest to noise cancelling as you can get. The tap controls are still a bit iffy but I am never able to master this feature on any of my ear buds so this is more a user issue and not really a product issue. Now the one area where these are similar to the cheaper alternatives is the battery life. The battery life once charged is not as impressive as its sound performance. These last a fairly long while but I’ve had much cheaper earbuds that lasted an eternity more when fully charged. However this is not that big of an issue considering I still get a few hours out of them which is not too bad. Also inlcuded are additional bud tips, manual, and charging cable type-C.Now are these worth the high and mighty price-tag? Dunno. Yes, these check off all the boxes in looks, performance; sound and features. But I cannot comment yet how durable and long lasting these are since they are still brand new. For the moment, the performance here is top notch, and the features and overall quality are excellent. If you can afford to spend $300 on excellent quality Linkbuds, then go for it. I will be taking good care of these and am hoping these last me forever and a day since I am loving the sound experience so far.

These buds are very comfortable and light, the sound features are impressive, I frequently use the noise cancelling and ambient sounds functions. There are a bunch of audio features like it can detect when you start talking and disable ANC so you can hear the person you are speaking with. I have used these for music but I would say I spend more time listening to podcasts, but the Spatial sound, 360 reality audio, the DSEE extreme settings really set these apart. The app can help you discover and configure the proper settings for your ears, it will even help you select the correct size tips and it can even use your phone camera to ensure your earbuds are positioned correctly. The case is small and fits the buds quite well, I’ve tested the Link Buds S before and I think I prefer the case that the S came with over this one, however I only use the case to charge the buds so not a huge deal. These buds are very similar otherwise to the Link Buds S, and I don’t know if the battery in these is similar but after 2 years the batteries die out and one bud will drain battery super fast, it gets super annoying, I’m not saying these will do the same but something to keep in mind considering the price tag I would expect these buds to last at minimum 4 years.I will come back to update this review as the buds age, but right now they are my go-to buds for everyday use, mainly phone calls and podcasts, with a little bit of music here and there.

Sony is no stranger to sound design. From AAA video game production, to studio albums, to blockbuster film production, it has had digital skin in the sound game for a very long time. They even have a proprietary sound engine that caters to the unique internal shape of a person’s ear (albeit not found with this particular set of ear buds).Ergonomic-wise, I found these to be quite comfortable, and with the included silicone tips of various sizes you can adjust to your needs as required. I’ve seen a couple complaints about these ear buds not staying in place, but my guess is that they simply inserted them straight into the ear. However, with this particular design, you need to twist them upward as you push them in so each one forms seal with your ear canal — this is why the shape of each bud has a “hooked” curve at the end, so that it hugs the inside of your ear after twisting them in.Once worn properly, the active noise cancelation is excellent. Top tier excellent, in fact. Plus the ambient noise & speech detection automatically pauses the music/sound volume so that you can interact with your surroundings much more easily without scrambling for the volume control when needed. This is my first set of ear phones with this feature, and it worked much better than expected without any misfires.Sound-wise, it was a great listening experience. While they don’t appear to have 3D/Tempest sound support, the output quality is very much akin to the “Pulse Explorer” ear buds that Sony offers for gaming. These have very crisp treble levels for vocals & dialogue (making them crystal clear for receiving phone calls), and a warm bass sound that vibrates nicely in the ear without being out of control or unnecessary. While these ear buds will serve as a backup set for me personally, this does not mean that they are second in quality. This is a fantastic (and comfortable) listening experience that earns its price tag with a lot of customization and modern features. They are perfect for on-the-go listening when you need to be aware of your surroundings, and when it’s time to relax at home they will provide an immersive & hassle-free sound experience that is second to none.Recommended, if they are within your budget.
