A perfect and smooth mouse
Durable batteries, perfect time response and good DPI. I am disappointed about the Steelseries software, but the product works perfect even without that.

Great mouse
Replaced my older more expensive Logitech mouse with this acclaimed bestseller. It works out of the box and guys my hand well.

Great, but the roller is a little weird
If you are looking for a solid mouse that is comfortable and not ridiculous with seven million gaming buttons this is the one. My complaints are that the mouse roller gets a little funky and doesn’t function as well as other mice I’ve owned and also that eats batteries fairly quickly. You will want to get some rechargeable ones. I like that you can use the USB wireless receiver or link with Bluetooth. I do game, but I’m not very serious about it and don’t need super-functionality. This mouse is good for that as well as general computing. The proprietary software is useful and can customize mouse responsiveness as well as the LED color. I would buy this again.

Nice mouse, included AAA batteries exploded within 4 weeks. Use your own lithium batteries
Update: I was able to get a replacement mouse, I will not be using the included batteries this time! It’s a great mouse otherwise. I have been really happy with both SteelSeries mouses that I have used, both this Rival and also the Prime. I picked the Rival for wireless due to the dual mode choice of either using bluetooth OR the included dongle. The wireless version of the Prime seemed to only have the dongle option. I pair the bluetooth to my laptop and plug the dongle into my desktop for quick and easy switching.Original review: I was really liking this mouse, the dual wireless modes were great. One day I went to use it and it didn’t work. I normally ONLY use high end lithium batteries since old fashioned alkaline batteries always explode or leak. I had used the included batteries in a pinch and sure enough, they had exploded, ruining the mouse. Don’t use the included batteries.

My favorite mouse
This thing has almost every feature I would want from a mouse. 5 side buttons are great, the switches are very durable. It’s the lightest mouse I have ever used too; making this very comfortable for long sessions; especially with the grip shape. Sadly only 1 DPI button. I’d gladly trade one side button for another DPI button. Scroll wheel feels good and is not too loud. No double clicking. Two of the side buttons work like more of a lever, than buttons. This is functional. I don’t mind it, or particularly love it. I’d prefer it to be normal side buttons. In a market where everything either has 12+ buttons on the side, or only 2 and has a cheese grater design, this mouse has been a godsend

Great mouse for a low price
Mouse is fairly comfortable, RGB is nice but not too excessive, the software works fine. Haven’t had any issues with a long use period.

Don’t expect it to last more than a couple years, its 2 year warranty reflects that exactly.
It feels great, the ability to change the cpi on the fly is great. The RBG lighting looks great in its default color changing mode. The software is pretty decent, you can modify a lot with it.Cons, just two (plus the new major con after years of use)…1. The back and forward buttons on the side are tiny as can be. It took me a good week just to get used to using them. Just saying they could be bigger in some way.2. The colors red and orange have just one shade compared to the other colors. You can tell this immediately when simply viewing the colors changing because it rushes right through red and orange. When you use the software to make the mouse just orange, it’s orange, nothing wrong with that. But when you do the same for red, it’s a light colored red. I personally wish to make it just a little more redder or darker if you know what I mean, to match my red theme of my PC theme. Just had to mention this because it’s one of those little things that just has to exist on my new mouse.P.S. The other colors are insanely GREAT looking. Especially the shades of purple, pink, blue and green. You can set a custom fade loop with these colors and it’s marvelous. I do recommend this mouse just don’t overpay for it. $30 is pretty much its top dollar(imo). Possibly $35 at most.EDIT: After 2 years and 7 months, the right mouse button chose to randomly break off (see pictures). I did not abuse this mouse at all and barely even play games with it as I use a controller for most of my game playing. When I contacted Steel Series customer support about this all they did was offer me 15% off another Steel Series product and a “very sorry” apology along with the following…”Hey there! My name is Bir and I will be doing my best to take care of you! I genuinely appreciate your follow-up and patience regarding your devices. Because we appreciate you being a part of the SteelSeries community and choosing our products in the past, and that we care about you as a customer; we’ve attempted to troubleshoot your mouse, and since we couldn’t resolve the issue and your warranty has expired, we’re happy to provide you with a 15% off coupon. My response… “So your solution to the mouse breaking is to invest more money into another one for $3 less?Their response… “Unfortunately, we don’t have a repair service at this time. Additionally, as you’ve stated, the mouse was purchased over 2 years ago which would place it outside of warranty and we would not be able to replace it. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. My response… “When will a repair service be available? Buying a product that randomly breaks in less than 3 years with 100% normal use is more than an inconvenience, it’s a faulty product. Do you care that my review will reflect this and do you care if I mention exactly what happened in my review? Because this issue needs to be known, as well as the fact that you’re doing nothing about it and that people need to expect their same product to become faulty after 2 years.Their response… “Hey there, Currently there is no known plans of any repair services in the future and I do apologize about that. Please let us know if you need any more assistance. My response… “Ah, I see. So you don’t care. Sounds about right. Well, enjoy the bad review.Their response… I’ll mark this case solved. Please feel free to reach out if you have additional concerns. GLHF”End of customer support ticket. This is as honest of a review as I can give. Buyer beware, this mouse is made of cheap plastic on the inside. Again, don’t expect it to last more than mine did because I did not abuse it at all. So I easily expect a lot of people buying this mouse are going to be using it for aggressive gaming purposes. I’d look at alternative options.Yes, it was a good mouse while it lasted and I did get used to the mouse buttons on the side. It’s just not worth it for the long term and Steel Series knows this.

Decent but doesn’t feel right
Although it has several shortcomings, the SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless is a good gaming mouse. I found the hand placement to be a little odd when using it, which made prolonged sessions less pleasant, even though its form would appeal to people who love its particular shape. The buttons felt a little strange and had a strange response that didn’t give you confidence, and the scroll wheel was mushy and lacked the clear tactile input you’d expect from a gaming mouse. Furthermore, the wireless performance was patchy, with sporadic connectivity problems that could interfere with gameplay. If you truly like its shape, it’s fine overall, but there are better options.

Iâve had the wireless version of this mouse at home for gaming, which I loved, so I decided to pick up the wired version for my office setup. First off, itâs really comfortable to use, whether Iâm zipping through documents or just browsing online. The price is pretty solid, especially for something this responsive. I havenât tried gaming with the wired one yet, but since the wireless version performed well, Iâm assuming this will be just as good. One thing Iâm keeping an eye on is the scroll wheelâmy wireless one eventually gave up, but so far, this oneâs hanging in there. Overall, itâs a smooth mouse that doesnât break the bank.

Perfect mouse for anyone, the only downside is AAA battery to change every 2 weeks in average for me.

I have the entire Steel Series suite… led mouse pad, Arctic 7 speakers, Nova wireless headphones. The gear is awesome. The mice, however, have been hit and miss. The PRIME mouse for example, was amazing until it wasn’t. It bricked from a firmware update and Steel Series support was completely useless on the matter. No live chat… just a stream of emails asking if I tried turning it on/off, reinstalling etc. The issue could not be resolved -which sucks- because: i) the Prime was primo dinero $$$ and ii) SS chose not time fix the issue and instead dedicated resources to building a new Diablo mouse.Suffice to say, I was hesitant to replace the Prime with another SS product but chose the RIVAL 5 (wired) since all my suite is SS.The Rival 5 is a great mouse. It is ergonomic, has good balance, it lights up nicely and the clicks are sharp. The ONLY issue I have with the Rival 5 is a glaring design flaw. That the silver ‘trigger’ button for the thumb… is COMPLETELY out of reach unless you have alien long fingers (which 90% of us don’t have) which renders said button COMPLETELY useless.I had read the other complaints about this issue and dismissed it.Oh well >_<
