    Controller Functionality
The controller functions exactly as it is stated. It has beautiful lighting. Wish I can play this with lighting turned off during the day. Has turbo and vibration mode available with multiple different options. Very comfortable in the hands especially for large ones.Cons: Lack of Red color lighting. Can’t turn off lighting as I play during the day. No direct HDMI connection available. No button mapping to be found which would be useful. Extension trigger attachments would be nice to slap on to this bad boy for shooters. Like the Elite Controller this should give us adjustable-tension thumb-sticks, swap thumb-stick toppers, D-pads, and back paddles to tailor this device to your preferred gaming style. Also a built in fan would be nice to keep it cool with a speaker enhancement for louder sound or music. I will still give it 5 stars as I want these cons to be included in a revised addition probably when the Switch 2 is released.

You Won’t Know Until You Try
I have to say, I got this on a whim and decided to give it a try. The biggest draw to this product was the fact that it has the Hall Joysticks and believe me when I say this, especially coming from someone who has the day one edition switch, it makes a WORLD of a difference! I tried to play using my factory setup in handheld mode and it doesn’t even come close to how comfortable and responsive this controller is. The RGB lighting is a nice extra touch, it gives me some nostalgia from when I needed a separate light on my gameboy for nighttime play. Speaking of the grip, the chunky and form factor controller feels intuitive and natural in the hand. I could play for hours and honestly have using this. I highly recommend for anyone who has a switch.

    Good Not Great
This was a good alternative to the joycons on my switch. although it makes it a little bulkier to hold it still doesn’t feel bad in the hands. it claims to have a turbo button feature that I just cannot get working but not a huge issue. the RGB lighting is good and kinda cool to look at it. If you want something different that stands out from the rest then this may be for you

    Good for portable mode.
There seem to be a lot of Switch grip controllers like this one on the market; I guess it’s a popular manufacturing mold. Anyway, this thing doesn’t have any battery of its own; the USB connectors are only used for connecting the controller directly to the Switch (it registers as a wired Pro Controller, so you need to turn on wired communication in your Switch’s settings for it to work) and for charging your switch through the outer port. You can’t connect any other USB devices to the Switch through the bottom port, however—not a dock, not an audio device, nothing. You have to commit to playing portable mode, and you’ll have to use Bluetooth or the headphone port for any audio devices. In that capacity these are good. The grip’s definitely more comfortable for portable play than the official Joycons, and gameplay functionality seems solid. At this price point I wouldn’t expect the controller to be super-long-lasting, but it seems to be well-built enough for what it is. There’s also a portable-mode stand and slots in the back for carrying game cards on the go. Overall, I say thumbs up, though this specific product is a dime-a-dozen online right now and you can find a bunch of them here being sold by a bunch of different manufacturers that are all pretty much the same controller.

Keep in mind you can’t use NFC w/this controller!
The very first thing that I realized when first reading the manual for this controller and inserting the Switch into it caused a bit of disappointment; since this controller is essentially a wired Pro controller and must have the wired communication option enabled to use it; therefore, you cannot use amiibo with it. However, I soon realized that it was more of a slight inconvenience since you can still turn on your disconnected Joy-Cons, set them as the primary controllers, use the amiibo function, and then press a button on this controller to set it back as the primary controller – all without having to take the Switch out of this device. Therefore, this also means that if you go traveling and wish to use the NFC function, you’ll need to be sure to keep your Joy-Cons with you as well. To be fair, however, the very first paragraph on the product page does mention to turn on “Pro Controller Wired Communication” first, so it does imply that amiibo functionality will not work (though it would be ideal to also clearly specify that NFC functionality won’t be available).Aside from that, I’ve been pretty pleased with this controller so far. The lighting can cycle between 7 different modes (cycling RGB, pink, cyan, green, blue, light fuchsia, and yellow), and you can change the brightness for all the solid colors by 3 steps (the brightness button does nothing while it’s in RGB mode). If you don’t want any lighting, you can turn it off by holding the RGB button for about 3 seconds. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of constant extra lighting (especially since I’m concerned about battery longevity), so I keep it off normally. Note that the A/B/X/Y buttons will always be lit up while the controller is on, however, and the brightness setting does not affect them.I do like how this controller has larger grips on the sides, not to mention the texture on the back. I have larger hands, so it’s a more comfortable grip for me and it helps my hands not feel cramped; especially after playing for a while. Furthermore, the trigger buttons are all larger than the standard Joy-Con size as well, so it’s easier to distinguish between R/ZR and L/ZL. The joysticks can also tilt about twice as far as the normal Joy-Con joysticks, so it’s nice to have that extra precision. I haven’t yet used the turbo function since I haven’t yet played a game where it would be useful for me, but it’s nice the feature is there – with it, you can choose to either toggle on “manual turbo” (where the button will keep pressing and depressing constantly while you have the button pressed down) or “auto turbo” (where the button will keep pressing and depressing constantly even if you’re not pressing the button down). One other nifty feature is that you can activate the turbo function on multiple buttons at a time. It’s also easy to modify the speed of the Turbo function by simply pressing the Turbo function and the D-pad at the same time – up to increase the speed, or down to decrease the speed.Another convenience of this controller is how it has the four game slots on the back, so not only do you have the normal game slot in the Switch console, but you have four additional ones on the back of the controller to hold the cartridges. Keep in mind that they are just slots to hold the cartridges, however – they are not connected to the console. So, you’ll still have to swap the cartridges into the Switch game port. Still, if you tend to travel with your Switch and only tend to play a few games, you can just keep them all in the console/controller and not have to worry about keeping a separate game cartridge container handy. One last note is that the controller itself is extremely light, which was a bit surprising for me when I was first taking it out of the box. However, keep in mind that it doesn’t have its own battery since it uses the console’s power, therefore it doesn’t have the extra weight that would be there if it did have a battery. If anything, just by feel, it really does seem like this controller is no heavier than the two Joy-Cons on their own! Therefore, don’t be worried about the bulkiness of this controller potentially causing it to be heavier. If anything, it’ll be a more ergonomic grip with the same weight as if the standard Joy-Cons were connected.Overall, the only way I’d be happier with this controller is if it somehow had NFC/amiibo functionality, but again, it’s just a minor inconvenience to switch the active controllers to the disconnected Joy-Cons to use the amiibo and then change the active controller back to this one. Therefore, I highly recommend this controller – especially if you have larger hands and/or want a textured grip!
