I tested the top 5 reasonably priced headphones and here is my review so you don’t have to
Ok. It was Black Friday / Syber Monday 2024 and I figured why not drop some money and help everyone else figure out which headphones are the best. I did not test anything $600 or more. These headphones were mid level, where most buyers are. With incredibly pricing, some of these were downright a steal!I am going to break them down into a few categories (Sound Quality, price value, bluetooth app Connection, comfort, style) and give you the results on each category. I could not test longevity since I just got them all, so I will leave that for other reviewers. The headphones I tested were the:Beats Studio Pro XSony WH-1000XM5Technics WirelessBowers & Wilkins Px7 S2eBose QuietComfort UltraThe overall winner for those who don’t want to read why is…………. Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e. Second Place…… TechnicsSound QualityWinner: Bowers and Wilkins PX7S2eRunner Up: Technics WirelessComments: This one was hard to pick a winner. Bowers and Technics were dang near neck and neck. You can’t go wrong with either. I had to go back and forth 10X to finally figure it out with all the songs I played. Some songs, Technics was better, some Bowers better. What it came down to was the immersion of sound. I felt Technics had the better highs and crisp voice sounds so if you are going for vocals, I would say Technics, but Bowers had a better feeling of overall broad balance of sound, lows and immersion. The Bose and Sony were 3rd and 4th. Beats last. Beats are great headphones, but they just didn’t have the stable / predictable sound that Bose and Sony had.Price ValueBeats Studio Pro X ($159)Sony WH-1000XM5 ($298)Technics Wireless ($172)Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e ($249)Bose QuietComfort Ultra ($329)Winner: Technics WirelessRunner Up: Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2eComments: For $172 the technics are hands down the best value / bargain of any headphone I have ever had. I have heard they have issues breaking on the hinge, so I can’t comment on longevity, but for sound quality and price, there is nothing close to the Technics. I got them on sale, so not sure if they are going to be that price forever. My review on this would change if the price went back up.Bowers and Wilkins at $249 was unreal for the winning headphone. What a great deal. Beats are nice gifts, but nothing I would own now after reviewing these others. Sony was way overprices. Bose, utter disappointment for their pricing. Bose is a solid 8 across the board but never a 10.AppWinner: Technics WirelessRunner Up: Bose QuietComfort UltraComments: I felt the Technics were the best overall app. Super easy for the normal user. Lots of easy sound options to choose from like bass+, vocal, treble+, dynamic. No weird screens. Just easy. I felt Bowers really dropped the ball on the app here and their app seemed a bit complicated with no pre settings to choose from. This was a bummer. Bose is always a steady 8, but never a 10. Good app, but not incredible. Just good and dependable. Sony, meh. they should change their name to always over complicate everything, but if you get it figured out they rock. Beats did a decent job.. Nothing I will remember.Bluetooth ConnectionWinner: All of them. I had zero issues with any, so they all get at least one spot on the winner podium.ComfortWinner: Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2eRunner Up: BoseComments: Bowers felt the best for sure. They just fit awesome. No doubt about it. Clearly the winner. Bose is a distant second. Beats felt really good actually so it took 3rd place. Technics is fourth but a bit stiff. Not quite as comfortable as the others. Sony was shallow so your ears hit the speaker cloth, which dropped to last place. If not for that, Sony would be number 3.StyleWinner: Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2eRunner Up: BeatsComments: Bowers hands down looks and feels like quality. Winner for sure. Beats colors are rad and they look amazing. Everyone compliments beats colors so they take runner up. Technics looks kind of cheap but they are not and this frustrates me as they have such a great brand, why cheapen them with such a cheap looking stainless design. Everyone loves the new flat colors and quality builds, not a headphone that looks like an outdated stainless steel refrigerator from the 2010 era.Final thoughts. Overall, Bowers is the best overall headphone, but dang, Technics is really an audio guys headphone if you want to hear certain highs and distant lows that should be your choice. Bose is a 8 out of 10 on everything, never a winner on anything. Sony was a disappointment to be honest. Beats is fine for style but lacking in the areas that matter the most.Long live Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S2e this time around. Good job.

FINALLY A GREAT SET OF HEADPHONES!
So I have been waiting for these for a few months now and I can say these are excellent headphones. I also have owned these which I will compare them to:Bowers & Wilkens PXSony 1000 MX3Master Dynamic MG20So first off these feel well made but not overly heavy like the B&W PX, and not as light or cheap feeling as the Sony’s. The app works well has a lot of features and does not force you to turn on location. You don’t need the app but it is nice and works well. There was a firmware update that applied pretty quickly and they actually described the update and what it added/fixed which is nice as most companies don’t really tell you. The voiced turning on/off prompts are nice, very clear and what’s cool is you can change the prompt language as well. I set mine to japanese and I like the voice, lol!The headphones are more comfortable than the Sony’s and the PX’s over time, my glasses didn’t dig in to my face and the clamping force is pretty much spot on. Inside the ear cups there is clear large letters for Left and Right which lets you put them on much faster. With the Sony’s I had to search for the small L/R text and was always annoying. The PX isn’t to clear either on the left and right positioning. The PX I had I gave away as one of the volume buttons stopped responding and I had to adjust it from the device everytime. Bowers & Wilkens support is terrible and weeks of emails they still refused to help me solve the problem. I considered the PX7 but the carbon infused plastic they use on the frame is a poor choice and will snap on impact as it is very brittle and not made for flexibility. I am a Mechanical Design Engineer and can tell you that was a terrible material choice. You can also look at the reviews and see how many people have had them snap. They do sound good though just like the PX but the new ones build quality is poor. The Technics has multi device connectivity which is great as I connect to my phone and PC at the same time and its a smooth swap when calls come in. There are 8 mics (4 for NR) and the call test I did were well recieved my my friends even in breezy area was very clear on the other end.The battery is the biggest draw here and I actually got more then 50 hrs on the first session as I did not have noise reduction on max. You can also choose your level of ambient noise in, there are lots of settings in the app. There are physical buttons for volume/power/pairing which is nice. I am not a fan of touch interface but you can also set up the touch style functions you want through the app as one of the earcup outer panels is a touch interface. The sound is very good for my use, they require high end input to appreciate them and I do not have that so best search other reviews for high end stuff. I watch movies, audiobooks, and PC games and its great for my needs probably more than I need. The Master Dynamic MG20’s I returned through RMA, for $500 I expected great stuff but it has this stupid auto off feature thet turns off the headphone after 10-15 minutes of use if it doesnt detect movement. I mean If I am sitting and watching TV or on the PC or even plane I’m not really moving around alot and it was so frustrating as they were very good headphones otherwise especially the build quality. These also have a stupid app that requires your location to be on.Anyways for the price these are great, they are not cheap, but they are not price gouging either like some brands. The tech is cutting edge, battery life is the best on the market and they look good in an office setting, public or anywhere. I hope this review helps people with their decisions.

Pros: The headphones 🎧 is very comfort, nice noice cancellation and ambient sound, very clear sound quality, mid range is wide.Cons: the bass isn’t as good as Sony xm5 and sennheiser momentum 4. Lots of mid sound and triple sound, but the bass is very lacking. Compare the bass with Bose QC45, the bass of EAH-800 is still better than it.Overall sound quality isn’t very accurate, lots of mid range sound blowing around your ears… the bass sound was just like you walking on the floor. Please carefully consider my comment before you buy, I would go for Sony xm4/5. Since Sony xm5 has a smaller speaker lol, I would still go for xm4 for sure. But xm5 isn’t that bad even it has a smaller speaker. Thanks for viewing my review though:)Hope this helps 🙂

These headphones are super. Personal preferences will always skew an opinion when it comes to sound, but some objective points in their favour are great weight, roomy and well centred earcups, premium feel (if you’re okay with the use of plastic), great included case, and an app experience that beats most of the others I’ve used. You simply get a lot of control with these from customizing how button behave, to turning off features, to even scaling the strength of your ANC. That alone is huge as I have trouble with the pressure created by other cans I’ve worn. While I had no issue with Sony’s XM4, they felt just a little too cheap. These headphones were on sale here for dramatically less and take it up a notch. No regrets! Great to see Technics hitting it out of the park–part of the desire to get these was just how impressive their newest earbuds were.
